If Apl does not watch it (pun intended) a similar scenario could be in play in September 2017...can you imagine what carnage would happen should Microsoft redefine mobile with a Surface Pocket the day before Iphone Pro launches? Won't be pretty to say the least...and at this point Apl could not pull it even if they wanted to.

As a guy looking forward to the Surface Phone, I can tell you to lower your expectations.

it will be the very best hardware and software and like all surface products will redefine the category with new form factors and (hinge) ...it'll sell outright and OEMs like Samsung will develop copies like they did Galaxy book . Apl will caught with it pants down and look around at a crumbling eco.

Hahahaha......oh are you serious..... have you not seen the last attempts by Microsoft to make a phone? And you think they will come along and outsell the iPhone :D:D

Not to outsell it but age it out by replacing it in people's minds and eventually cross its market share in a few years

Won't be a "phone" as that's too limiting

Also they are not Apl, I expect more in reality than I expect. For instance I was not enamored with a Surface AIO then they launched Studio/Dial exceeding my expectations by a significant factor.

Translation: "we're going to continue to raise our prices"

TVs get better technology each year and they come down in price... Dells are cheaper than they use to be, and they put current processors in them... The mac pro was released with processors that were almost 2 years old (if I remember clearly) and they want an arm and leg.... (now I still bought the last mac pro... but thats not the point)... lol

Now give me a new one to buy and hate myself for it...

If that's going to happen then it's going to have to be a MASSIVE game changer just like the iPhone but even more so. With it being Microsoft I just don't see that happening.

It will just surface line always has been since the limited release table, gamechanger is apropos

...or Apple dropping the ball, believing more in their ego than reality... have you looked at the state of the Mac? Is it really that hard to even consider that RIM with BlackBerry or Nokia, Xerox, all those big players have ceded their ground and become nothing more than copy machines, burner phones, or obsolete all together. Apple hasn't put any distance between them and the competitors, if anything there wheezing to stay with the pack. All the speculators, market watchers, economists, and even Apple themselves downplayed the projections for the iPhone 7-it was only as big as it was because the Galaxy's were prone to explode... You are foolish to think Apple is really king amongst the peasants... if anything Apple might be emperor but the senators all have knives and ready to strike.

I think Apple is king at the moment, however it's possible that another company will come along and change that, I just don't see it at the moment. The iPhone 7 Plus is a great phone, I upgraded from my 6 Plus and the portrait mode alone was worth it. Yes other companies have stepped up thief game in terms of design, Samsung in particular but there still no where near the iPhone in terms of reliability, quality of the OS (Samsung's Touchwiz is a big no no) and so on. Of course this is just my opinion. Apple sells hundreds of millions of iPhones and I don't see them being easily toppled. The iPhone 8 later this year will probably cement that I think, especially if the rumours are all true, but we will have to wait and see.

The Surface is not a game changer, it's popular among a certain market but it's hardly king of the market.

I still think the Mac Mini is done (Not that it should be). It's been overly ignored for far too long. Apple likely will place emphasis on the iMac, iPad Pro and Mac Pro (Hopefully).

That would be a shame. I am planning to get a computer for my son - 7 years old. The Mac Mini would be perfect. Notebook is too fragile for the little rascal...

Ok Tim, sure. In his defense, he has only been saying it for 4 years.

Exactly.. No updates on Mac Pro, Mac Mini for the last 3-4 years. In Computer time... They are obsolete. Not to even talk about the design of the Mac Pro that was a complete disaster.
Event the iMacs were not updated for over a year. Or the latest disaster of the latest Macbook so called Pro...

Many pros, are already switching or building clones... So Sad...

Apple hardware (desktops) became so bad and out of innovation that the Microsoft Surface Studio are looking sexy....

Your lucky son I think he would be extreme pleased with the base iMac....:)

So far it's on track to destroy Mac and ipad with itself and variants, I think same will happen to iPhone primarily and Galaxy to an extent

Your saying that sales are on track to beat the Mac and the iPad? I'm sorry but that's not true at all. Don't get me wrong Surface sales have grown, but it's not outsold the iPad or the Mac.

Has the Mac mini ever been more powerful than an iMac? I don't recall that ever being the case. Seems like the missing product is a powerful mini for people who are pros but don't really need a pricey Xeon workstation. People have been building Hackintoshes instead, not that I agree with using one for work; far too unreliable.

Look a Mac and Ipad market share heading south...will continue to do so as 2-in-1 and Studios, Books, Cloud Arms take over add in Iphone to the declining pile

Ipad may be "king" of tablet sales a metric surface does not participate in nor does its variants, ipad sales are basically against android tabs

You have to compare all variants to see the southward trends (*not just surface) ..the plan is on track pick apart apl eco one by one..apl is under assault that's why so many are upset here

My point is that it'll be a mobile device that runs well in continuum and falls short in the area the iPhone excels at.

You don't seem to fully understand its going to be Windows Professional running natively on ARM running on at least a Snapdragon 835 class chip...no Continuum needed in fact its the opposite direction taking windows and adding a mobile shell not W10M adding a desktop shell. Continuum will still be further developed as that the ultimate future and realization of UWP after windows in about 2028. WoA is an interim measure to bypass the app issue for now and a good decision on their part.. it took some serious coding ninja to get windows to run on ARM at this point 64-bit arm Windows will use WoA to emulate x86 ...WoA is similar to Wow32 or Wow64

Expect an explosion of lower cost ARM Windows devices.... Surface pocket will set the high bar
....

Sorry Tim. You're about a thousand days late and a thousand pounds overpriced. After 14 years with Apple, I'm on my way out. Put Apple's money where your mouth is and show genuine, long-term, no nonsense support for creative professionals and I'll consider buying another Apple product. But right now, you are just a disappointing, untrustworthy CEO with a bad track record for supporting power users.

And you're ignoring that it will be horrible as a mobile device. WoA cannot bypass the lack of mobile apps.
