Blablablablabla...
I didn't even bother reading the article. So sick of this crap. We had to make such major changes for my business because of Apple disgusting neglecting. Switched to Windows, don't like it, but at least it works and the computers are powerful. I miss mac, but will never come back because of the garbage we have to put up with.

Even if you had stuck with Apple hardware you would have had to make major changes because so much of the Apple software no longer works well. UI design is now so bad, and feature degradation so rampant, that the majority of Apple's own software is no longer appealing.

I love how you blame Tim. Even under Jobs the Desktop was rarely updated.

That's not remotely true. In the last 10 years of Jobs' tenure:

  • Countless iMac G3 updates
  • iMac G4 with multiple iterations
  • iMac G5 with multiple iterations
  • Intel iMac (06, 07 redesign and 08 update, 09 redesign, 10 and 11 updates)
  • Mac Pro (06, 07, 08, 09, 2010 updates)
  • Mac mini
  • Intel Mac mini (06, 07, 09, 11 redesign)

"You will see us do more in the pro area," Cook said. "The pro area is very important to us. The creative area is very important to us in particular."

Cook's comments were directed towards the Mac, Apple Watch, services, and iPad, but may reassure those who are worried that Apple is abandoning its desktop Mac lineup, especially the Mac Pro.

Apple Watch Pro...

Come to me Ryzen Mac Pro

That's quite possible given Apple's relationship with AMD on the GPU side.

I'd welcome it, but I also kinda want to see some Ryzen benchmarks from systems in the wild, rather than those from system's that AMD made available to the press. Still, Ryzen does look promising.

"Don't think something we've done or something that we're doing that isn't visible yet is a signal that our priorities are elsewhere," Cook also told investors.

"Expect us to do more and more where people will view it as a laptop replacement, but not a Mac replacement - the Mac does so much more," he said. "To merge these worlds, you would lose the simplicity of one, and the power of the other."

The first quote (paragraph) is the most retarded thing I have ever heard him say.

The second quote is the first thing I ever wholly agreed with him on, that I heard or read.

He must regiment the Macs, All of them, to be released regularly on an annual schedule or ASAP according to Intel processor updates; that's the only prudent method to increase Mac sales figures. What has transpired is braking the Mac revenue.

The 2013 "trashcan" Mac Pro was a mistake. I'm sure they went back to the drawing board to come up with something new, that's why we've not seen an update to it.

I agree. I think they ran into more thermal issues than they foresaw and they were unable to solve them in that form factor. I think they've tried to solve them (that took two years), then they tried to come up with something better than the old form factor (that took a year). They either are going back to the old form factor or they've finally cracked the issue, but in a new form factor. I think they never got the trashcan to handle the thermal issues in current top level GPUs.

Personally, I think they should take the trashcan form and make the "headless" Mac that folks have wanted for years. While the thermal issues may be insurmountable when using current high-end GPUs, they could use lower-end but still desktop GPUs and make a very nice looking and very powerful desktop Mac. It could be the replacement for the Mac Mini.

I have definitely been on the critical side of people judging Apple but I am willing to wait and see what this statement turns into. If another year goes by and nothing is forthcoming, or the upgrades are fluff and window dressing then I'll be willing to join the pitchfork brigade.

The hugely expensive secondary market for the classic MP should be all the proof Apple needs to see that tons of Users in that arena don't care if the computer is a work of art.

If they bring back the original design or something similar with the same degree of expandability, I'll order one the day it goes up for sale.

Oh. I'm with you on this. I'm so bored, I will buy Nokia 3110 and go totally retro. Every update Apple makes slows down the devices and features are removed. I'm sick and tired. Which Windows laptop would you suggest?

Wrong thread?

Well actually the classic MP is a very nice looking case as well. Just as much a work of art as the trashcan. But I do think it is proof that it was a very good design. I wonder how hard it would be internally to just swallow pride and release that old case with new internals. It must be hard because they should have done that a year ago. They've lost customers and 10s of millions of dollars of profit by not releasing a Pro machine in 2016.

Tim Cook is the master of smoke and mirrors. He had turned Apple into a lifestyle company. Really what it comes down to is as soon as a better "status" phone comes out, Tim is dead in the water. He has done little to move the company forward. Really. He's brought us the Apple Watch and "Pro" mobile devices. I think investors see that and know that as soon as there is a real challenger to the iPhone, they'll be jumping ship. Not an all at once thing, but you'll definitely see it.

Just remember that BB was the darling of the phone industry at one point and look how quickly it was unseated.
