Thanks to many of you, today a lot of us were able to get our hands on a matte black 7+ using the IUP link.

Any of you settled for the matte black because that's the only black available, but really wanted the jet black?
I've settled for the Black because that's what I wanted. Jet Black looked nice. But damn if there was ever a scratch on it, it's going to drive me insane.

I looked at both this week and still prefer the jet black. Also like the regular black but I figure with the upgrade program, I don't need to worry a ton about the scratches on the JB model since I can upgrade next year. I will say though that picking up a black plus today was super tempting. I'll probably give it a week or so to see if I can find a JB model.

Picked up my 7+ 128gb black that I reserved this morning. I still can't believe I got it. Even the apply employee was confused how I got one. Payed outright but had to have the manager come over to confirm because the employee had no idea what was going on. It felt pretty weird being the only person walking out with a plus haha. Thanks everyone for the help!

Checked out the jet black while I was in the Apple Store. Man is it ugly. Looks like a piece of plastic and had scratched and fingerprints all over the back

I've settled for the Black because that's what I wanted. Jet Black looked nice. But damn if there was ever a scratch on it, it's going to drive me insane.
Before the ordering process began i was torn between JB and matte but ended up preordering matte. That's what I picked up today and I am really happy.

HAHA funny you said that. There's going to be a thousand hate forums in 1 month after people's Jet Black models are all scratched\scuffed\grimy. Even with a case the bottom edge is going to get super scratched. If 24 hours on display in the Apple store ruined it, I can only imagine what users phones will turn into.

Has anyone else noticed the really odd nuance in the Apple Store? At least at my local stores, they no longer use the security stick-on cord they used to... so people grab the phones and walk around with them... really strange... seems like they'd walk out, even though they're useless to anyone.

The ones I was at had the words and whatnot attached.

But yes in the next few weeks/months once everyone gets them, it is going to be a TON of complaining about how easily it scratches and whatnot. I was one who wanted it until I saw it today, (48 hours?) later just from all day usage.
 
What a Day!

First of, a big thank you to everyone on this thread. You guys are the reason I got a 7plus today!

I've been up till 4am 3 nights in a row trying to get an unlocked/sim free iPhone 7 plus.

I use Cricket pay as you go and very much wanted to keep it that way. NO contract.

Anyways i reserved a 7+ Rose Gold 128GB Verizon using the IUP link this morning for 6pm today.

Got in at the apple store in Boston at 5:55pm, spoke to an Apple staff who asked me to wait for a specialist.

I told the specialist i wanted to buy the phone outright and he said he couldn't to process my reservation until i showed him the email confirming my reservation where it says you can pay via other payment methods - in full etc. Thank goodness for fine print!

In all i got my 7+ and its unlocked (i put in a UK t-mobile sim, At & T sim & cricket sim) all worked fine. The Apple guy did stress not to turn on the phone with the Verzion sim still inside else it locks to Verizon.

P.S- Still cant use the 7 yet as my cases, screen guard havent arrived yet :(

[doublepost=1474240093][/doublepost]To summarize. You cannot reserve a att phone and then put it into the IUP on t mobile. UNLESS!! You create a new account with att and activate the upgrade plan. Then the phone is unlocked so you can use it on t mobile. I'm doing it right now. I'm going to cancel the ATT account and ATT said it will be $0 charge to do that within 14 days. Obviously I don't recommend doing this unless you are crazy like me. But it does work!! Woo!!
Didn't work for me, but it was because of Verizon which lock me from switching devices. I got all the way to verifying my verizon account but got flagged and need to call verizon. They would not allow me to upgrade even though I was not upgrading through them. And that is way I have TMO. Glad it worked for you.
 
Anyone else notice that the IUP reservation page is down? Now showing the same message that the other reservation page has been showing ("check back tomorrow after 12:01am")

Not in my store. Every one of them had the cords on them.

Does that every night. It will come back about 12:05-12:10 and even then it takes awhile for all the states to show up. Also try 8AM in your time zone.

Just drove 2+ hours to pick up my iPhone 7 Plus 256GB Matte Black. It was kinda a problem though..... I am on T-Mobile and wanted to purchase the phone outright so I reserved an AT&T model. But they made a fit about how I reserved an IUP phone but wasn't an IUP customer. The Specialist flat out told me that IUP customers have priority over everyone else. I was pissed, but eventually they let me purchase it outright. I popped my T-mobile sim in before booting and it works perfect

The apple employee I got was super nice. He asked me how I wanted to pay and if I was using the att next program. He didn't even mention the IUP until I asked about it. I ended paying full price since the phone tied to my account is still coming Tuesday.

Wow. I had no problems. I wonder if they'll make it more difficult for us trying to do this at next launch.

Whatever. The Apple Store rep typed that link into my phone. If we're not supposed to use it, they should say so in advance.

I'm just pissed that IUP customers get priority and a "red carpet" roll-out. If Apple wants IUP to be a priority program, OK, but then advertise it as so.

Exactly! When I was in store Friday, the Apple rep Airdropped me that link and told me to try again at midnight.
