Just tried to reserve a Black 7+ 128Gb to exchange for the DOA one my wife got today and no dice. Darn it.

Will the stock be updated periodically through out the day?

Yup, yesterday was raining 7 Plus's. I am assuming because shipping carriers don't ship on Sundays. Tomorrow's reservations may be another story with available inventory.
Good point. I didn't even think of that. Fingers crossed for better selection again tomorrow.

Thanks for everyone who provided the links today. Picked up two Verizon Black 128gb 7+ phones.

Unfortunately my wife's phone was DOA. We purchased them through the IUP for the first time.

Is anyone familiar with how this will work? Can I just go to the store and exchange it for a new one?

If they have any in stock. I'm on AT&T and reserved an AT&T 7+ matte black 128 GB today, got it home, and then discovered that there was a piece of dust under the camera lens. I immediately took it back to exchange it, but unfortunately they told me they were completely out of stock of that model and would have to call me when they got more in. After leaving disappointed, I realized that they had the Verizon version of the same config, so I made a reservation for that one using my wife's account. Another trip to the store and now I'm good to go. Verizon version works perfect on AT&T, and as a bonus, I now wouldn't have to get a new phone if I ever switched to Verizon or Sprint, and resale value should be better.

I have a feeling since they don't ship on sundays but they do on monday mornings... at 8 am today there should be some pretty good inventory. But then again that is just wishful thinking.

This!

This is the loophole for those who want the Verizon phone and have to activate on Verizon in order to leave the store with a Verizon phone. You have to cancel service within 14 days. Easy enough. Just pop in your TM or ATT sim right after and you are good.

Added bonus: Cancel within 3 days and you get your activation fee back too!

I bought a Verizon phone outright today and am not a Verizon customer. Didn't tell the sales associate that and just said I would activate it when I got home. Wasn't a problem. Got it home, popped in AT&T SIM, never had to activate on Verizon.

So I messed up my reservation today and put tmobile when I have att. I had to purchase the 7 plus full price which is not what I wanted to do. I wanted to sign up for IUP. She told me I could return it when they have stock of ATT version I want and then I can sign up for IUP with ATT. Are you saying this is not possible?

You can't buy back the phone you are returning. You can buy the same sku if you have a reservation or if they have that sku in stock.

The actual phone you are returning, no you can't. At least today at my store.

That'a what I was anticipating. Thank you.

Did you exchange it through IUP?

Yes. True for outright buys.

If you get it IUP you need to activate on that specific carrier. That's why the outright purchase is popular with this thread.

No, just bought the Verizon phone as a completely separate purchase and will return the one with the dust under the lens now.

Ah, I see. That's dumb.

Hi Im new here.
Anyone know why I get this message when I try to reservate an iPhone?

"We’re sorry, but this service is currently unavailable."

Did Apple update at 12:01 last night? No change this morning at 8. Regular non-IUP reservation page is still down.

You don't need to reserve a new one to swap a broken one. They have replacement stock at the genius bar that's totally separate.

Tried at 12:01-12:30. The only plus was a 32GB gold.

Started trying again at 8:07AM EST. says try again at 12:01.

My has been on PFS since Saturday.

Ok everyone, here is what I did.

1. Ignore the non IUP reservations page. (I don't think apple will be updating that page)
2. Go to istocknow.com and select the model you want from the store where it is available.
3. This will automatically take you to the apple.com iPhone page where you can add the phone to your shopping bag. It is on this page where you can now see that in store pick is available.
4. When checking out, make sure you select in store pickup as your delivery method.

I was not given a chance to make a reservation time. With that said, I believe reservations are a thing of the past that helped handle launch weekend crowds.

This should work and I considered doing this with a Verizon model for later use with either TM or ATT. But there's really no point if you are in the IUP. Unless you plan to travel to Asia within the year. That phone will be traded in within a year so higher resale value doesn't matter.

If you just want a phone and your carrier isn't available this is a good strategy. You just pay an "activation tax" and then cancel the plan. Phone is unlocked and you aren't on contract. You could switch every month if you wanted to.
The activation fee goes away as well

So can someone clarify the "carrier unlock" on these phones if you buy it at full price? So basically if you pay full price you can purchase any carrier phone and it will work? So for example I am on ATT, I can purchase any carrier phone at full price pop in the SIM and it will work? Seeing mixed answers on this...

Has anyone done it where they signed up for the Apple Upgrade Program online and preordered their phone online, got stuck in Preparing for Shipment, but went in store and picked it up anyway?

I have an appointment at 12pm to pick up my phone but I was wondering if you ran into any trouble when you got into the store with signing up for the Apple Upgrade Program when I've already basically "enrolled" in it online. I would still like to enroll in it but since I technically ordered one already, will they just forget about that since I can't cancel it? I know I can return it once it arrives though.

If i make a reservation through the upgrade program to hold phone, when I go in later can I just pay in full or do I have to stick to the program??

I reserved a T-Mobile phone hoping to enroll in the IUP but because my line is associated with the business account of my employer, when the salesperson typed my phone number and SS# into the system he wasn't able to locate my account (because my SS# is not on it). I asked if I could still purchase the phone and he said yes, so I did.

Managed to reserve another gold plus about 30 miles away from me, hopefully this trip turns out better than yesterday's..fingers crossed they let me do NEXT this time...
