Just a word of caution if you're on Verizon with unlimited data. If you try to purchase a phone with the Verizon Device Payment Plan, there's no way to keep your unlimited plan when buying from the Apple Store. That's unfortunate, since Verizon DOES allow this and you can do it no problem at their own stores. But it's easier getting a phone from Apple. 🙁

I think most Apple Stores had a lot of stock yesterday. Just keep checking each day because they should be getting more shipments.
Loving how much better the battery is. My 6s plus would be dead just from standby since the time I woke up lol.

Question on the upgrade program. Does att charge me a activation fee on my next bill? I was under the impression they see this phone as unlocked and I'm just using it on my line. I currently have a iPhone 6s Plus on a at&t next installment. What I was looking to do is sell my 6s plus on eBay & use that money to pay off my 6splus. And then continue on with the Apple installment program via the citizens 0% loan with a iPhone 7 plus if I can get lucky and snag one at my local store for reservation.
I would assume there is no activation fee, I'm not getting the phone through ATT.

FYI: Last night I went to an Apple Store and the girl helping me actually interrogated me a bit and asked me how I got the reservation if I was not doing IUP. Me being an honest person said I was pointed in the right direction on an Apple forum I participate in, and she then said you're exposing a loophole in our system and you don't qualify for purchasing the phone and was turned away. I didn't make a scene so I just left.
This morning I was able to reserve another 7 plus for pickup at a store further away but I want to make sure I'm successful this time. I have verizon and I qualify for 2 year contract pricing. Should I be successful in doing this and have others received the subsidized 2 year contract pricing by using the IUP link?

I guess it depends on the employee helping you. The "majority" of the people here, including myself, was able to reserve an iPhone using IUP link, but paid in full-price without any questions asked by the employee.
Try your luck, I'm sure she was one of the very few that actually cared.

I did and it wasn't even an issue. It didn't even look like they knew I used the IUP reservation.

Sunday morning at around 8am I reserved a black Plus 128 AT&T model and picked it up at 11:30 that morning at the Towson Apple Store.
EDIT: I just want to add that I upgraded using my existing Next plan. When I mentioned to the employee about IUP because I was considering switching to it, he told me I couldn't do it in store since I had an existing balance with AT&T Next. I said no problem and then had no issues going through with the Next upgrade.
the guy I bought from -- I just said hey is it okay if I buy full price. he goes yep.

It says right on the reservation that you can switch to another type of payment plan other than IUP when you get to the store. I think you are right, some of the employees are just misinformed.
I think the issue is that you're supposed to be coming from an iPhone Upgrade Program, and then from there you can continue with another IUP or buy the phone at full price. A lot of people, like myself, are using the link that was meant for current IUP customers. Anyway, I'm off to my reservation now so I guess we'll see what happens.
Why is it a problem??? Its the same thing whether you go whit he device payment plan at apple or at Verizon. I guess i won't be reserving a phone at Apple then because Im not giving up my unlimited data or buy another phone outright.

I need to reserve another plus for family. Hopefully better stock will appear tomorrow.
Could be the fact that they made less of them for some reason, or it is the most popular model because everyone assume it's the only unlocked iphone. I wanted a t-mobile one too and it was impossible to find one in entire LA and the cities around it, so I ended up getting fully paid off Sprint and I am using it on T-Mobile as we speak.

The amount of horror stories of not getting them is weird. The guy at my store literally asked me if I was gonna use my att next plan, pay outright, and after a few minutes finally asked if i was interested in the iPhone upgrade program

I was able to reserve one yesterday thanks to this thread and my appt was for 12:30 pm Sunday. So I headed there with my wife and was a little late (12:45) and the place was hopping. SW suburban Chicagoland. There was a line of about 20 people but I went right to the front and showed my reservation code but the apple dude told me I had to wait just like those other people in line. I would've but we had to be somewhere and it was definitely going to be at least an hour or more wait so I said forget it. I thought maybe we had priority since I already picked out the phone etc and saw stories here of people being in and out in 10 mins. Was I expecting too much? Today there are none available anywhere.

Expecting a little too much. I get it, you reserved it so all you need to do is go in and get it.
However, the reason there is a line is because there are no Specialists to help you check out. Think of it like this...
You go to a grocery store. Sure, you know the food you want is there so you go to the store. Well, when you get your food, you've got to wait at a checkout for the employee to scan your items.
That's the same thing as what's going on here. If there were more Specialists, then there wouldn't be a line. You also got to remember that those specialists still have to check out people who are there for things other than an iPhone 7/7+ as well.

If you're using a number currently on ATT and you go through the Apple Upgrade Program, you WILL be charged an activation fee upon pickup of the device. They're not gonna let those activation fees go regardless of where you get the phone if you're upgrading.
Now, buy the phone outright and DONT upgrade, you're golden...
