I went to apple.com and picked the configuration I wanted. I then chose the store with availability (which was the closest to me) for in store pick up. It asked for some account info and then I paid in full prior to tomorrow.

Ah lucky. My store always pops up as unavailable.

But I tried experimenting with this and selected an 7+ 128GB Matte Black Verizon - clicked on "Check Availability" and it says the phone can be picked up at Apple Store, Garden State Plaza NJ. So once I click on Check Out, I'm no longer able to select the Pick-Up option because it says "Unavailable for pickup at Apple Store, Garden State Plaza". At first I thought someone already ordered it but I checked again, phone is still available. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
 
Just reserved an iPhone 7 Plus 128gb MB in Bay Area! bunch of stock already available. Do the regular check out then choose pick up. Don't use the IUP reservation link, that one only updates at 12:01am.
 
I know of 3 options for Pickup and Reserve: 1. Apple Store App 2. Apple.com Store (then selecting "Pickup Check Availability" while checking out) and 3. From the Reserve and Pickup website. Which one are you guys having success with?

I don't understand. They all show up as Unavailable for Pick up when i add to cart and click on checkout?

Edit: When I am selecting my configuration, there's an option at the bottom that says Pick Up Today. I can see that they are available. But when I go to checkout the pick up option is no longer available.

I'm selecting the Verizon phone. I get redirected to the page where it asks for verizon account details but I ignore that and click to checkout. Is that maybe why?

It could be.

Why don't you just choose pay in full then. Your card won't be charged until you pick up your phone. And from what I've heard so far people have been changing payment options after they arrive physically in store.

It could be. I included my AT&T info and then paid in full. My CC was charged already and I was able to continue with in store pickup at my preferred Apple store.

Yeh, I checked in case someone already got it but it still always shows as available.

West coast just updated - barely any 7+'s in my area (AZ)
 
Weird, going through the apple store checkout on my phone, the cerritos store went out of stock in middle of check out. (I was sooo mad)

But then i tried the IUP reservation link for the same store, and i got my reservation in!

128GB, MB, Plus! Woo!

never any jetblacks, has anybody ever reserved a jet black this way before?
Just want to add - the dedicate iphone reservation site was showing availability of the model I want (tmobile 128 gig black), but then when I went to select it a web page would pop up saying no reservations are being accepted. Instead, I went to apple.com and went through the entire checkout process the old fashioned way, and in the checkout process selected pickup and could check out. For some reason the systems seem to be separated (at least when I tried a few minutes ago)
 
So Are you in IUP already?
I went to the same apple store today around 1pm. The apple specialist insisted that she can't sell it to me because I'm not in IUP yet. Then I asked another guy, and he told me the same thing...
When she scanned the reservation QR code, it only says trade in on her device. She didn't know what to do next and canceled my reservation. Does any one know what I should tell them to make it work?

Hi, the FAQ's of the IUP reservation clearly say that you can upgrade to full payment upfront, so I just showed her that, she sent me to the longer queue (the one with loads of Chinese people in it), about 2 hours later when I reached the specialist just gave her my reservation email & she got the device, I made the full payment & I was out of that place.
 
A bunch of pluses showed up tonight all over California, was finally able to reserve a black plus 128 for in store pickup tomorrow. Just checked and there's still stock at many stores for all carriers, move fast!
