So, I'm missing something. Sorry, long day.

If I have the option to add a line with an UDP, why can't I just activate it? Why the need for SIM swapping? Once activated, one can swap SIM's as desired anyway...

As was just posted you may not have to swap sims after all.

This is all brand new. The first person to report an in-store pick-up had a failure. Then the next person had success with a SIM swap.

We aren't Verizon insiders (obviously) so all we are doing is trying to figure out how it all works given what others who are actually doing it are reporting works or doesn't work.

I believe my original issue was that they had tried to activate it in store and I never knew it wouldn't work that way. So that's great to know. I'm doing ship to home and then I'll add more for store pick up

so I'm thinking I'm just going to try to activate my phone with the provided sim, as phoenixmac says, rather than attempt any imeyers method or sim swapping, yea?

But I thought the problem was the scan activation didn't work?

That's what I mean. As the other poster said (unless I'm mistaken) during the time the scan is also when they activate the phone and so I'm assuming others just told them not to scan to activate and did it themselves at home.

No iMyers said they did the scan activation.

apple.com allowing me to add new iPhone to Verizon account with unlimited

No iMyers said they did the scan activation.

Than what is everyone talking about that they didn't allow them to activate in store and did everything at home?

If my issue wasn't that than maybe it was just because the servers were burdened. I don't know.

They didn't let the Apple employee turn on the phone. They just did the scan activation and then they signed for the phone and took it home. When they got home they took it out of the box and turned it on.

Idk why it didn't work for you. That is the confusing part.

That may very well have been it. The problem likely was the Apple guy involved Verizon.

when mine arrives just to be safe I am going to activate the iphone with my old sim and activate the new line with my old android phone and hopefully I'll still have the UDP on the new line

Same here I suppose.

I don't know because the issue started before verizon was even involved. He called Apple support first after error messages.

And it wasn't the regular apple support but a certain number

OK, well I suspect the servers were overwhelmed and then the problem was that people started calling support numbers and that effed everything up b/c then the Apple people started calling Verizon and that was all she wrote.

If it doesn't work via ship to home than I'm blah I'll call it quits. Maybe lol

I think as long as Verizon is not involved in the process, everything will work out.

Here's my situation... I want to get the 6. All our phones are under contract, but I still can add a line onto our legacy plan and I have Unlimited iphone available. Can I buy the phone under contract with a new line, put my SIM that's under contract in there, and give someone else the unlimited line under the Assumption of Liability? Again, I only want the phone, not necessarily the plan or the line. Basically, can I unload the line? Is there an interest there from people especially with it being under contract and unlimited. It would mean no throttling.

Yes you can do an aol to someone else

So you can just AOL on one line? It wouldn't be the whole thing, correct? It wouldn't do anything to the line itself and as far as the rest of my legacy family plan, it wouldn't change anything, right?

Won't change anything at all

Yes, you can do an AOL for just one line. It's a very simple process too
