Has anyone successfully transferred one of these new lines? I have a friend interested in one but I don't want to risk losing my UDP to hook him up.

Your phone number and contract are tied together. You cannot sign up for a new unlimited line and simply transfer your old number to it. The old number has to be ported first which will then end the contract and then I believe you can port it over to the new unlimited line you just opened. Hope that makes sense.

Wont I be able to just go into myverizon and switch phone numbers?

So here is what i want to do, line 1 has a iphone4 and i want to get a iphone 6

Say Line 1 has a number 1234, order a new udp line via apple and get a number say 5678. Cant I just put the new iphone 6 after I activate it onto 1234 and the new line (5678) onto the old phone(iphone4)?

That method will work fine. My explanation was for a different situation. My situation involves not wanting to keep an additional UDP line and possibly canceling a line that already has UDP (month-to-month without contract). Basically all you are doing is switching phones on your lines which is allowed.

i will probably need to do the same, move my number from month to month line to new udp line? please keep us posted of how you done this. thanks

So essentially say after a few months I realize I don't need it,couldn't I just cancel my old udp that is and still would be month to month? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can return it as others on this forum have had success doing. I only know of one person on here saying that he did ship to home successfully and used the new sim. I've heard from others on here that people on slick deals have done the same.

ok thanks. i'll try the store return. the apple website says you can't do that with the phone but it's worth a try.

Is apples 7 to 10 day shipping estimate pretty accurate at this point for the Iphone 6 ?

ordered mine on the 15th, it shipped from ZhengZhou on the 20th. supposed to get home delivery this thursday.

Not positive I understand your question. If you sign up for a new unlimited line to get the iPhone 6 then you are basically under contract for two years unless you break it. I'm not sure if you're saying you have another unlimited line that is month to month (contract free) like I do.

are you going to activate with your current sim or the one included ? Good luck

apple.com allowing me to add new iPhone to Verizon account with unlimited

Lol, seriously though, AOL's are safe? I don't want to go through the trouble if they're not.

Safe indeed outside of human/rep error/maliciousness

I just SAW my account and it said I had to keep my data plans until 9/2016 LMAO

Yes, I had a 6+ on order in status "processing" with the add a UDP line option. Just cancelled the order and was within 5 minutes able to start a new order. Added a 6 with UDP line and chose in-store pickup this time, worked great.

Just checking back in to say everything worked perfectly for me. The Apple Store employee did have to do a scan activation on the new iPhone 6, but as soon as I got home I swapped out sims between my old (UDP) and new (UDP) phones and kept both UDP when I turned both phones on.

I really can't believe this has been this easy, honestly. Why on Earth has Verizon not axed this yet? Oh well, I'm sure as hell not going to call them and ask.

Thanks OP for this post!

I have been able to do this twice now, each time with in-store pick up. I'll try to explain the steps below, hopefully it helps and clarifies things a bit for those who are trying store pickup.

1. Added an additional individual line with an iPhone 6 (line #2) to my individual line with iPhone 5s on UDP (line #1)
- went through the web portal, chose the 450 minute plan --> iPhone unlimited data --> 250 text messaging plan (also a grandfathered feature)
- at the store, the rep just scanned the device and activated the new UDP line, without opening up the new device
- after i left the store, line #2 is shown activated on my Verizon account, with the unlimited data and 250 text features on the line, but without a device attached to it
- went home and used line #1's SIM to turn on and activate the new iPhone 6
- used line #2's SIM in the 5s, waited a bit for it to activate and receive signal
- swapped the SIM cards back, and both lines still showing unlimited data

before going through the in-store pick up process again, I converted the 2 individual lines on the account into a 700-minute family plan.

2. Added an additional line to the family plan with a 6+ (line #3)
- web portal didn't ask me to choose minutes, only data + text features. chose iPhone unlimited & 250 text again
- went through the same steps as #1: picking up the phone in store with a line activated without a device attached to it, then activating the device at home

Curious, would anyone here be interested in taking over one of the unlimited lines (for free, contract end date 9/23/2016)?

Sorry a little off topic, How did you merge the 2 individual plans to nationwide family plan?

thanks! this time with the one included. i'm month-to-month udp with 2 other tdp lines. want to replace one of my tiered lines that's out of contract with the iphone unlimited line.
if this thing is still going i might replace my month-to-month.

not sure how the sim swap works unless people are giving up their existing line (and the number that goes with it) for the new one (and new number).

So there is a poster on Slick Deals who got a new UDP line and when he/she tried to get a rep to switch numbers b/t the UDP line and an old TDP line, he/she lost UDP on the new line. He/She put in an inactive pricing request to try to get his/her UDP back on his/her BRAND NEW UDP line.

Well if Verizon didn't know about this before, they do now.

I'm confused why is some swapping sims if its activated when they do the scan? Or is it just to be safe. Can it be done without swapping sims?

Yes it can be done without

I'm pretty sure verizon is in on this more than we know trying to accumulate those 'hungry' iphone customers with unlimited megabytes
