I actually cancelled my order since I found local inventory.
I'm in Portland - where did you find local inventory? I've been scanning and can't find any inventory this side of Boise or Reno? You posted at 9:40 p.m., and I checked at 9:45 - nothing. Spill, please?

Washington square had a 128gb last night that reserved and picked up this morning and another one happened to be available earlier today. Haven't seen other models around town though.

Thanks, I just guess I'll have to hit the refresh button more often... It is the 128GB version in silver I'm looking for. Feel free to return your unopened box... ;)

If one of you guys have/can get a udp line and pre-order/store pickup 6+ (any color 64gb+ at this point - please let me know.. we need to chat. 14 days in and I'm throttled on At&t... :\

Just thought I would share my screwed up experience with this...

I managed to make an order at Apple store online for store pickup WITH UDP on a new family share line. Waited in line for almost an hour at the store until they finally got the phone. Told them to leave it sealed as it was a gift so they just did the scan activation. Failed on the Verizon end because it kept insisting that the phone was an upgrade and not a new line. The best part was that the system thought I was trying to upgrade the new line that didn't even exist yet.

They finally ended up called Verizon to fix it, which I knew was bad news. Wasn't sure what would happen, but it seems the Verizon guy manually added a new line and activated the phone. Didn't even ask what data or text plan the new line should use, just stuck me with a 2gb plan with pay per message. Going to just return the phone tomorrow. Not sure if I'll try again since this whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth.

What texting plan is everyone picking when they are ordering ? It seems some had issues when they picked plans not offered anymore over at slick deals. Thanks

Just to confirm, you already had an account with unlimited data right? I am confused what you mean when you say "on a new family share line"

I don't even get the option for a texting plan... Probably because my account level plan (nationwide family plan) has unlimited texting included.

i had the same problem. I aborted before things got too far with Verizon. My guidelines posted on Slickdeals:

I just picked up my new line after being turned down and then spending the day of perfecting my account for a seamless pickup. this bears repeating...

GUIDELINES for apple.com UDP new line: to get one YOU HAVE TO HAVE A UDP PLAN already.

1. make sure you are the primary account holder when picking up. The info that you put in when you place the order at apple.com should match the info you supply to apple upon pickup: name and DLN.

2. if you have family plan unlimited testing ignore this... if you do not have unlimited texting plan already on the account DO NOT pick unlimited messaging at apple.com. safest bet is to do PAY AS YOU GO and you can change it later after its activated at my VZW. verified problem - I tried again today with the UNLIMTED texting option even though its not enabled on my account and it failed to activate. Had to cancel the pickup, call 1-800-my-apple and cancel it there as well. It took about half a day to clear out the system to let me place another order.

3. Make sure there are no other pending orders on your account from any other retailer be it Verizon directly, best buy, amazon, etc.

4. Added for the slickdeal nubs: DO. NOT. CALL. VERIZON.
DO NOT LET APPLE REP CALL VERIZON.
I REPEAT DO NOT CALL VERIZON.

i chose the pay as you go because I know it is currently offered by verizon. didn't want to lost out on UDP because I got too greedy. you can always change it after activation.

----------

will taking a shipped order of online udp order for additional line on apple.com, to activate in store will work?

i haven't tried the shp to home activation method but if the in store works for sure I don't see why at home wouldn't. I'd give it a shot, you can always return it. If you bring it to the store I wouldn't imagine them doing anything different than what you can do at home.

i do remember one person having problems activating at home earlier in the thread. Don't know if he was an outlier or not.

Not positive I understand your question. If you sign up for a new unlimited line to get the iPhone 6 then you are basically under contract for two years unless you break it. I'm not sure if you're saying you have another unlimited line that is month to month (contract free) like I do.

Hi, OK here are my lines and this is what I wanted to do.

Line 1 udp
Line 2 udp iphone 4
Line 3 basic

I want to order a new line via apple and get iphone 6 and then put the number from line 2 onto the new iphone. Then I would like to cancel a unlimited line (the one that would have the new number) which I was hoping I could do. How is the best way to do this.

transfer line 2 to google voice. doing so will auto cancell line 2. once google voice has it transfer it back. $20 charge

You could call verizon and ask them to swap the numbers for $15 but then people will start asking questions and you risk blowing this up for everyone else. Don't be that guy.

best way to swap numbers would be involving a port to google voice

I would have to agree. Either google voice or buy a cheap burner phone from say boost mobile or something, port your number to it then you can go port from the burner back to verizon right over that new line. #

i don't think anyone with a shipped order has reported back. Did I miss one?

My shipped order did NOT work. See my earlier post for more details.

The scan activation in-store seems to be the key difference and is what triggers the new line to appear in one's Verizon account. I'm not sure what would happen if someone took their shipped phone to an Apple store for scanning though. Presumably this would work, but I don't know if the store can/will do it. I live several hours away from the nearest Apple store and cannot try that.

I'm returning my phone to Apple via Fedex and may attempt a store pickup sometime in the future. If so, I'll report back on the experience.

Did you select a texting plan when you placed the order and does it match your current texting plan?

I have a Nationwide Talk and Text Family Share 1400 plan that includes unlimited text messages. When ordering, I was not presented with an option to select a texting plan, just data.

It kind of sucks that because this is so public, we are giving Verizon all the ins and outs of how it works. Ah well.
