So my two orders are about to ship. Here's a breakdown of my situation---

Line 1 UDP (upgrade eligible) --- Ordered an iPhone 6.
Line 2 UDP (upgrade eligible) --- In holding pattern.
Line 3, 4 Dumb phones (not eligible) --- Nothing to do.

I ordered two iPhones. One on Line 1 and the other by creating new UDP.

Just fielding suggestions on how to go about activating...

(1) Activate new UDP straight up. And activate line 1 via BB method.

OR

(2) Activate via iMeyers (swap new UDP and Line 1) --- Kill two birds with one stone?

Thoughts?

Some people are saying that it only works with in store pick-up. I've not seen a successful home delivery yet.

As far as activating in the store, it has always worked just fine for me with the sim that comes in it. The store has to scan to activate the phone.

But yes the other line you should activate with the BB method, by swapping sims...

Remember the upgrade glitch from last year late September (5s hadn't been out long and Note 3 preorder was still going)? These things just remarkably happen at around the same time.

They probably don't care anyways because they know they are going to throttle the hell out of us. (I'm only semi sarcastic here)

So I'm probably going to order online today from Apple.com and hopefully pick up an iPhone 6 opening a new unlimited line. Obviously if there are issues with scanning the phone that involves Verizon I will not finalize the purchase. If for some reason it turns out that the line is not unlimited once I activate the phone at home can I return an opened phone and also cancel the line without penalty by returning the phone back to the store? Thanks in advance.

Yes

Many of the news outlets reporting on the planned throttling indicate that it's only for users who have already met their "minimum contract term".

Since it seems possible to add the line and transfer the number through Google/Boost, I will go ahead and order an unlimited plan tonight once the online inventory updates to do an in-store pick up.

Wish me luck all!

transfer line 2 to google voice. doing so will auto cancell line 2. once google voice has it transfer it back. $20 charge

You could call verizon and ask them to swap the numbers for $15 but then people will start asking questions and you risk blowing this up for everyone else. Don't be that guy.

Ok thanks, what happens to the phone calls and text I would be receiving during the times it was going to google voice?

Wish I could get a solid answer on this. I did the ol' dumbphone swap a year ago and my contract renewed after I had been on month to month with my two unlimited lines for the better part of two years prior. I just want to know if they're going to throttle unlimited contract or just the unlimited out of contract users. Really debating adding a third line just to get one more phone lol.

My concern with activating new UDP is that Line 1 currently has a pending activation. Worried that it won't allow me. However, since I ordered that new UDP first, I have already been assigned a new phone number. So maybe I can get away with all of this by activating the NEW UDP first and then BB method Line 1.

Or should I BB method Line 1 first? My concern with this is that the pending activation will not fall off after SIM swap?

My understanding of the reading is that will only be throttling (network optimization) if you are on a month to month unlimited plan, have reached I think it's 4.78gb and only if the current tower that you are on is overloaded. Even then they are only supposed to slow you down a small amount until the stress comes off that tower and then your normal speeds return. So it's only on demand and for short periods, not like att where you hit 5gb and they slow you down to edge speeds no matter what until the end of your month. I'm not too concerned about this. Seems much fairer than att way of doing it, of course that's assuming they follow what they said they are gonna do.

My credit card was charged so I guess I am a couple of days away from trying it:D In other news a user on slickdeals activated a new unlimited line that was shipped with the included sim and it worked great.

This should make your ilife easier. http://www.istocknow.com/us

Thanks! I almost got a 16gb plus but someone snagged it before me. Plenty of i6 128gb available but don't really want that. I'll see how quick it updates.

decided to pick up a 128 gb regular i6 to make sure I get the new UDP line. I'll just sell the phone and pick up a full price retail i6 plus when available. waiting for the email to go pickup

On my way to pickup iphone6. Has anyone picked up theirs with a social security card as their secondary id? All I have with me is my DL and SS card.

Question for those of you who order apple.com and pickup instore and the line didn't succeeded and so returned back to apple store. Do you guys have to call verizon after returned the iphoe back to apple store? Or it will automatically taken off your account? How long would verizon's system update that we have returned the phone back and so we can call up to terminate the line if their system doesn't automatically take it off. Thank you.

you need to call 1-800-my-apple to fully cancel. when you can place another order online is when it has cleared the system. it happens pretty quickly.

I called Apple after Verizon told me that they still not seeing the phone returned and Apple rep said that give Verizon a day or two which I find weird as others told me it should cleared right way. Right now, I still see that line on my Verizon online account so not sure what to do next.

The only other reason I can think of that my ship to home order wouldn't activate is that my successful use of the Best Buy method (from a separate iPhone 6 order that arrived the same day and was used on one of the existing lines on my account) resulted in a pending activation being stuck on that line. The pending activation could be blocking the addition of the new line.

Looking at my Verizon account online, I can see that the old device still shows up on the line that the BB method was used on. Any thoughts on how to get rid of a pending activation after using the BB method?
