When I was at the Apple Store, the phone wouldn't activate and the Apple rep had to call into Verizon. I figured they would say something about the plan but they said it was because I was picking it up in a different state from my billing address and just verified my ID and then it activated. I am wondering if the Verizon rep changed the plan at that point without notification. I still have the original email where I placed the order and it shows Unlimited iPhone as the data plan.

Verizon rep screwed you

That is strange because the first phone I got was out of state. I live in CA and I picked it up in NV and everything went fine.

I just got off the phone with Verizon. They just kept telling me that, sir we do not offer an unlimited plan. They suggested that I take my confirmation email which states unlimited iPhone into the verizon store, although the rep admitted that it couldn't be added even by store manager.

Return it and start over

When I try to add a line, after I put in my ID info, I see this message:

Based on the information you provided, you will only be able to pick up your iPhone in an Apple Retail Store.

Verizon may also require a deposit in order for you to purchase a new iPhone; deposit can only be paid in an Apple Retail Store.

Is this an indication that the apple rep will have to call verizon for activation?

No they shouldn't have to

It's a relatively automated system

Out of curiosity, prior to this, did you potentially have any pending activations hanging on the account such as from having previously used the Best Buy upgrade method on an existing line? I was unable to activate a ship-to-home order and realized the pending activation may have been the cause. Unfortunately I'd already shipped the phone back at that point. I'm going to test an in-store pickup tomorrow and will report back on what happens.

put in a phone number that has an udp into the first part of the eligibility checl

I am putting in my dads number. He is the primary account holder. However he has a dumb phone. When I put my number in, it won't even let me log in to dee what I am eligible for.

Pick mine up yesterday here is how it went.
The apple rep tried scanning the box and it wasn't going thru she tried a few times and said sorry she has to reboot her scanner it's not working. Tried again still not working. Then ask to see the email confirmation. She scanned the bar code off email confirmation then the iPhone box finally went thru. I ask if I can keep box closed she said since its a new line she has to open and make sure it's acativated. She open it turned it on and I left. I checked my account and I have a new line with unlimited data. Now just have to get ride of that line.

That reply of mine wasn't elaborate, but IKWYM. What I tell my clients about "worth" - it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Several weeks ago, these lines were going for up to $800, then VZW made their network optimization changes and the going rate seems to be about $500 - all minus the 12.5% eBay/PayPal "taxes". After 10/1, they could be worth less - if VZW starts throttling, and VZW stops offering the 6GB legacy UL data deals to existing GFed data subs. Two years ago, I bought some for $200 a pop and still have them.

To be honest, Cricket is starting to look like the best deal out there now, and that's who you're competing with if VZW starts throttling UL data users like myself. If you want to sell, do it now.

The best offer I have so far on craigslist is $250 and I am located near Soho. Is ebay better than CL? I am worried that a buyer can stop the payment after the line is transferred. (I have never bought or sold on ebay).

Phone not activating

I need some help here. I added a UDP line and purchased an iPhone 6 for ship to home. I just received it yesterday, but when I try to activate i get this message "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable". Not sure what to do. Anyone received this message before? I don't even get to the part where type in zipcode or last 4 SS#. When adding the line I did choose the unlimited text option. I have a feeling this is why I having the activation issue. These are the steps I did using the original sim that came with it.

Choose language
Choose Country
Choose WIFI
Get error message when trying to activate

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I just realized I'm most likely screwed. Gonna go pick up my online order but a device on my account still says it has yet to be activated.

I've had this issue since Tuesday and been on the phone with Verizon many times "escalating" this issue to be fixed. It's now Saturday and I still can't change features on the website without one of my lines devices saying it has yet to be activated.

I didn't do any bestbuy methods or anything, this is a regular tiered data line that's being difficult after renewing contract for 2 years for the iPhone 6. Just being destroyed by Verizon.

Yes, I did have a pending activation actually. I had ordered another iPhone from the Verizon store and was waiting on it to ship. DO you think this could have been the problem?

Also, the fact that someone obviously changed my plan to 2GB so discretely has me asking, what's to prevent them from doing this again or to all of the unlimited plans activated in this manner?

The genius' little iphone isn't showing online confirmation activating the phone. Thanks Verizon for not correcting the activation issue for me in a timely manner

After what seemed like an eternity. It went through. I was allowed to take it sealed so I don't know if I should still do SIM swap. The new line was added to my account and says unlimited

hi, BEFORE you added the new UDP, did you have a single UDP on your account or a family share plan?

Almost to the Apple store for my 2nd UDP line, will report back! Hopefully the AOL goes smoothly later today; that's the only thing that has me worried.

Damn and all I did was Edge up on Verizon's website and my unlimited data is still there. The entire ordering process was less than 7mins. And I got my phone on launch day. I ❤️ You Verizon ###

I picked up an extra UDP and have my current UDP, my wifes UDP and this extra UDP which I may give to a family member. Apple did the scan activation and I see the new line under my verizon, however there is no phone associated with it. Can I perform the AOL the way it is or do I have to activate a phone on the line prior to doing so? If I do have to put a line on there, whats the best way to put a phone on the line so it shows a phone was on there without me having to open the new sealed iPhone (that I plan to sell).

Worked for me. Unlimited line in my account with a 64GB iPhone 6 Space Grey, did iMeyer's to be safe.

Now time to learn how to port/change numbers. while I refresh Apple Store for a 16GB Gold for my mother

Didn't go through. Scanner had an STI error or something when they tried to activate. :(
This would have been a 6th line on my old Nationwide Family plan, not sure if that has something to do with it or not. Bummer.

yes, it did. You can't exceed the maximum number of lines on a plan.

Move one or more lines to a subaccount.

Looks like prices have dropped on eBay a bit. I didn't see whether you're out of contract or not - out of contract (and therefore eligible for an upgrade) are going for $400-500, so about $350-450 after the fees - and then there's the wait for your cash to be released. So many flakes on eBay and oh-so-poor seller protection now. And about $200-250 for on-contract lines.

UL data lines will get throttled at some point and there's so much more that will be known after 10/1. Keep in mind that the other "plus" for an UL data line is still eligible for the Data Max plan - 6GB for $30.

Oh, for those reading this thread, I called in to check in on the Data Max plan for UL data users - I was told by my rep that the 8GB for phone and tethering data is still an option, but the 10GB option has been pulled. Read into that what you may, but I'm reading that the thumbscrews are being tightened...

The $250 might be the best way to go - be safe, too. If you're out of contract still, push for 3 bills. $50 extra is a cheap night out in Soho (I'm from LI, I'd rather head for Chinatown...).
