Can anyone confirm if the Best Buy method mentioned at SlickDeals is still working? When I try to buy an iPhone 6 at BestBuy.com as an upgrade to an existing line, which is the "Best Buy method" described at SD, there's a warning box on the very first page that advises people that VZW has eliminated unlimited data and that people who upgrade will be put on a 2 GB plan automatically. Is that a new warning that ends the so-called Best Buy method, or is that a bogus warning that doesn't actually come true at the end of the process? Thanks very much.

EDIT: I just noticed that, during the checkout, it says "Verizon Wireless - Keep Existing Plan." Does anyone know if this still happens, or does the earlier warning prove true? (From a contractual standpoint, does the fact that it says "Keep Existing Plan" make it binding on VZW?) Thanks.

My orders for new local pickup orders are getting cancelled by Apple. I'm getting an email that states:
=============
Thank you for your recent Apple Online Store purchase. We are unable to
process your iPhone order as it exceeds the quantity limits per
customer.

As a result, we've cancelled your order and you will not be charged. We
apologize for any inconvenience.
=============

This is after only 3 orders. Anyone else getting this?

Someone on the previous page got the same message. Said he was trying to add a 3rd line. Perhaps Apple has caught on to this loophole.

yes

When I was at the Apple Store, the phone wouldn't activate and the Apple rep had to call into Verizon. I figured they would say something about the plan but they said it was because I was picking it up in a different state from my billing address and just verified my ID and then it activated. I am wondering if the Verizon rep changed the plan at that point without notification. I still have the original email where I placed the order and it shows Unlimited iPhone as the data plan.

that's your problem right there. when verizon is called then it's a no go. you should return your order.

see my tips for a seemless pickup:

Is your account individual lines or family plan? I tried to order a 3rd udp individual line and wasn't allowed to on apple.com :/

Apple only allows you to buy so much in a certain period of time, how much have you bought from them recently?

Just tried adding a 3rd line and got the message... cannot add Lind maximum number reached for this account type. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Yeah that same thing happened to me. I called verizon and talked with the credit/activation department and they fixed it. It was pending orders or something hanging in their system. The girl told me that it had been happening all day. Here is the number I used to call them: 866-338-7390

The email I got came from Apple though. Were you getting the exact same email from Apple or did your call to Verizon resolve something g different?

I was in the Apple Store picking up a phone and then decided to get another line will this UD thing is still going and that would have been line #4. So I went to one of the demo macs and started another order for personal pickup and it just said "you have exceeded the maximum number of lines for this account type" or something along those lines. Was not an email just right on screen. So went out to my car to call verizon and after about 4 different people I got to the credit department and they cleared it right up. Walked back in. Made order and it went right thru.

Move one or more lines to a subaccount.

How do I do that? Also, this order isn't officially canceled right now. I bolted just before they were going to call Verizon and just checked. It's still available for pickup. Will I have to reorder or will the scan work after I move a line to a sub account?
Edit: Another option would be to AOL a current UDP line, freeing up this UDP line. How long will my account reflect 4 lines if I were to do this?

Sounds like you had a different issue. My email came directly from Apple after my order went through.

Yes, I did have a pending activation actually. I had ordered another iPhone from the Verizon store and was waiting on it to ship. DO you think this could have been the problem?

Also, the fact that someone obviously changed my plan to 2GB so discretely has me asking, what's to prevent them from doing this again or to all of the unlimited plans activated in this manner?

return the phone and try again.

you need to read my guide for a seamless transaction. if the screen pops up for call-in activation then it's a no go. best to cancel at that point.

I just got off the phone with Verizon. They just kept telling me that, sir we do not offer an unlimited plan. They suggested that I take my confirmation email which states unlimited iPhone into the verizon store, although the rep admitted that it couldn't be added even by store manager.

do not pester verizon with this issue anymore. do NOT do as the rep said or the issue might get elevated and catch some manager's attention.

bring phone back to apple store and demand a refund. you have 14 days to do it.

So I made a thread on HowardForums regarding porting numbers.

I want to give my brother the new unlimited line, and my mom can go on tiered data cause she doesn't need to use data as much.

Is this even possible? Are numbers locked down on contracts. My brother just renewed his contract for 2 years to get the iPhone 6 subsidized. Would this prevent him from porting over his number?

I know I was told to use Google Voice, but I am still unclear on the instructions on how to do it. I just don't want to mess it up is all

One more line for me and I'm done exploiting verizon

hi, few questions,
1.did you aol to someone?
2.if yes, how long did you wait after activating the new line before aol?
3.also, when you first did the apple.com add UDP, did you have a single UDP line or were you on family share?
4.did you have the phoned picked up at the store or shipped to home?

thanks

1 yes I've done it with multiple people

2. You can do it immediately but mine weren't immediately. Some were definitely same day though.

3 I have two accounts. One was a family and other was a single

4. All were picked up at store. I may do ship to home for my last one if I can't secure a plus via store pick up soon

Did you do the aol at a corpora store or on the phone. Also, are you activating these lines by using the phone that was purchased on the lines or are you transferring without ever activating a phone on the line.

All done via phone. I've only activated one line as that line I'm keeping for myself but all others weren't/still aren't activated on the phones ordered with as I'm selling/have sold the phones as well.

So all you did was let apple scan the device which added the line on your account? Did your my Verizon show only the line with no phone attached to it? Just want to make sure I don't run into any issues when I transfer. I haven't activated the phone since the box is still sealed. What happens to the sim that's attached to the line that's in the sealed box? Thanks in advance for answering the questions

"3. I have two accounts. One was a family and other was a single "

1. did you do any of the added apple.com UDP lines on the plan with the single UDP line you have.
2. also, when you AOL them, are you leaving the sim the phone came with in the phone youre selling?
3. if you dont mind sharing, how much are you selling the iphone 6 with UDP line for?

thanks so much

Every time I get an error message that tells me to try again later. I entered the phone number with an UDP, through the Apple.com site, with Safari.

What am I doing wrong? Did they close it?

I successfully performed an in-store pickup today after having previously had an activation failure with a ship-to-home order. Nothing on the account changed between the attempts. They scanned my email, scanned the box to activate, and sent me on my way after I declined assistance in setting up the phone. The new line immediately showed up in My Verizon with unlimited data. I swapped sim cards with a preexisting udp line, activated, the swapped back. Everything shows up correctly in my account and the new line works.

before your ordered the new UDP line from apple, were you on individual UDP line or family share?

I was on the Nationwide Talk and Text Family Share 1400 plan at the time both new lines were ordered and activation attempted. The only difference between the two orders was that one was shipped (fail) and the other was picked up in store (success).
