Did you choose unlimited text plan? Did your line show up in Verizon account before you activated it?
if you chose unlimited texting at apple.com but don't have it on your nationwide plan you may want to try calling verizon, adding it to your account (30$ feature for all lines) before you try activating the new iPhone

----------

Today I received my phone ordered from Apple.com with new line UDP. While ordering I choose unlimited text which seems to get me in trouble. Also I requested my landline phone number to be transferred to this new line. I just now got email from my landline phone company that my account is cancelled which means number is now ported to Verizon but line is not yet activated. Now if I decide to return the phone because I would not get unlimited data plan then would I be able to get my phone number back to my landline company? How to make sure my transferred number is not lost during this process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

see above.

let us know how it goes lol

I'm on a call with VZW, started by my calling Apple. I got my iPhone 6 today, ordered on 9/21, and I couldn't activate it today. I had nothing to lose and I am willing to return it, given that it won't affect my existing lines with UL data.

So, I'm on hold with a Level 2 Tech. I told her that, if this does not go well, I'm prepared to cancel and return the iPhone 6 tomorrow (it's almost 6 pm local time).

Here's the problem that has prevented my activation today. After waiting up 2 hours after delivery to see if the device would be tied to my account I did call VZW to find out why the activation didn't "take". One VZW rep told me that there's no record of the number Apple provided me with. So, I called Apple, who transferred me to the VZW Level 2 Tech.

The Level 2 Tech told me that Apple set the activation date of the mobile telephone number to 8/16/14 - two weeks from today - 8/2/14, the scheduled delivery date. She told me through the course of the call, the Tech indicated that she might be able to revise that date to today, and asked for the number that Apple tied to the iPhone, and later asked for whether I'd bought the device on contract or at full price (on contract) and then the IMEI and ICCID numbers, which I passed on to the Tech.

I did get the iP6 activated, but with a 2GB data plan. I'll be getting the device removed, order cancelled and return the handset. My other reason for calling in was to get the "pending activation" removed from my account - which could have lasted two weeks or so, according to the Tech. So, that's my story.

My two Best Buy orders had the "your order has issues" email last night, so I cancelled those too...

So, not a good day for me. I'll try again soon to order a new line. I thought I'd offer this as an explanation of what's going on on their end. FWIW, the Tech did say "be sure to not order from Apple...". I will try again from Apple, and if I get the UL option I did 10 days ago I'll be sure to get one in the store...

It sounds like maybe too many things were attempted at once..

try actually going through the motions of adding a line or activating a phone but don't go thru the entire thing at vzw.com

Yeah, it lets me go all the way to the final step on the website. Also, over the phone they'll let me get all the way to the final 'say yes', and even in store an Apple employee can use their handheld thing to go into the account and start selecting stuff for a new line. On the website though it immediately errors out after typing in my phone number with an error saying I've reached the maximum number of lines.

Edit: Also, interesting enough if I select 'upgrade current line' it comes back and tells me it needs a billing password to access my account, but if I select add a line the website immediately comes back with the error instead - so it makes me think the problem is in Apple's system then?

Nah, not at all. You've missed the point of my post. The phone wouldn't have activated for 2 weeks, according to VZW. The phone didn't activate and couldn't be activated, so there was nothing to lose on my end. VZW offered to "push up" the activation, so they "gave me a new number", which led to the plan losing UL data - the number of minutes, number of texts, and amount of data were all wrong too.

I just got off the phone, and I got what I want. The order's been cancelled, and I'll be returning the handset at a local Apple Store. My "pending activation" hold has been removed from my account by VZW - I already attempted to order a "new line" and I can again add a UL data line, and I'll wait a day or three to look for a local pickup (there aren't any for VZW just yet).

IOW, I got to the bottom of why my activation didn't work - no thanks to Apple here. As to the number of orders, I have several accounts with VZW - so if that's what you're commenting on, no, and I'd indicated earlier in this thread that I have multiple accounts (which is unrelated to the subject of this thread). My BB adds were flagged as were dozens of others as commented on in Slickdeals, AC, and elsewhere. As JulesJam noted earlier today in Slickdeals - it looks like the jig is up...

The Ducks are on soon, so I'm out of here... :D

Gotcha!

How do you have multiple VZW accounts? Or just sub account?

Somebody just offered me $75 for one of my unlimited lines... Are you kidding me ? have a good evening everybody

Multiple. I run a small business - we don't qualify for a corporate-liable account, so I have several personal-liable accounts. My accounts have a mix of individual and "family" plans - and grandfathered the F&F option which is cheaper than paying for UL minutes sometimes...

If you'd check out that Slickdeals thread, I've experienced what other posters have reported - that Costco is activating iPhones before shipping and BB is reporting "there's a problem with your order" - so the gig's getting outed IMO...

For me, FWIW, I was able to push through my order activation so that I could order another iPhone from Apple - and I checked right away to see that I can order a new line with UL data, but I'll have to wait until one shows up locally - soon, I hope...

My question though is you're only supposed to be able to have one Vzw account per person, how did you manage to get more then one? I'm not judging, I'd just like to do it myself!

I called Verizon and added the unlimited text plan to existing two lines for $20. What I was told was for new line I would need to add this feature after the activation.

I sold a new Apple UDP line last night and the person I sold it to is in the process of acquiring it as a new individual line for himself. I just got this text, (I cropped the first line showing the phone number)...is this normal, does it mean the AOL is going ok?

I have only done one AOL before and never got that message

Yeah I've done about 5 so far and I have never received that message. That looks strange. The only messages I get is the Verizon emails saying that the AOL is in process and a follow up saying that the AOL is completed.

Are you selling them? If so where? Is anyone holding onto them for the market to recover or just unloading them?

that doesn't sound right unless you had a 1000 text plan before for $10 which would make the Unlimited texting feature $20 more.

they should have changed your "nationwide talk" to "nationwide talk and text."

check your plan name on vzw.com

I am holding on to mine till all the not so smart people sell them . Then again I just have one for sale and I am not buying 10 to 20 of them just to flip :D No way am I letting this special rate plan go for less than $350

You are right actually it was $30 for all lines and they have added that one. My activation did not go through and Verizon saying the number porting has not yet happened and once it happens, I will see the number in my account and then I can activate the device. It can 3 days for number to port completely. But I have very few hopes that it will go through. Let's see.

STI resolution while trying to pick an iPhone with unlimited data. Apple Store employee said we have to call and I decided to cancel my order. Waiting for the representative on the Apple hotline.

I placed the other last night

My issue might be because of myself though. I called this morning to give one of my friends an unlimited line and I did the AOL thing. He called Verizon and said there's a pending order so I decided to go pick up my iPhone. Well then that error came up and I decided to cancel.

Just got off the phone with Apple. Says it would take about 48 hours before I can order a new line again. Wow. Does it really take that long ? I thought that's only for upgrade people
