Wow you got lucky TWICE: 1) VZW didn't auto switch you to a 2GB line when you called about activation and 2) that the apple store was able to update the activation date for you.

Similar to Campguy I got my iPhone6+ early via ship to home last Friday (originally scheduled Oct 14-21) and couldn't activate it. I worked through Apple Support for 6 hours over the weekend including doing an iTunes restore but no luck. Finally decided if I could get lucky with Verizon asking for a tier 2 tech but they added the account as a 2GB line. Even then the phone still wouldn't activate but I immediately asked to cancel it and return the phone. Called apple to initiate a return on Saturday and said I wanted to return in store on Monday and the support woman said sure sounds good, I'll send you a return shipping label in case you change your mind on going to the store. Turns out that was a bad idea. Found out in the store on Monday that her ordering the return label blocked me from doing a store return. Called Apple support to override which they did (force canceled the return label) but still no dice after waiting 10 minutes and trying multiple times. Decided to try again today, still not working in their system. Was on with apple support another hour while in store, going to try one more time tomorrow with the help of their ISNT team ("there super special hacker team") to fix the system. Then I will make sure to call VZW to get someone on the line to talk to the store manager to confirm the return and wait the 72 hours to try and do a store-pickup on Monday.

Note to anyone wanting to return an apple.com order DO NOT REQUEST A SHIPPING LABEL, just take it into the store and they should be able to help you.

I think key is to have same messaging plan on the new line which is existing ony our current calling plan. The activation date needs to set correctly. Problem is Apple shows ship date couple of weeks in future but they ship in 2 weeks so first place is to go to Apple Store and get activation request sent from Apple to Verizon, wait for 24 hours and then directly try activating phone. I think this would work without having to call Verizon. I called them for number porting and not even once they got clue about UDP on new line. If Apple sends activation request then line would get automatically added with UDP on it to your account. Verizon Credit department simply performed this step manually (pushing line on my account).

I have a 1400 minute Nationwide family plan with 5 lines, all with UDPs. All these lines have the talk txt and data discount.

I have a Corp discount on only 1 of my lines. Were you able to use your same discount across all lines, or do you have multiple employers? I'd love to get the discount on my other lines. Just trying to understand how to do that.

So if you have 5 lines on a Verizon nationwide family share plan, you can simply create a subaccount and the new UDP line from apple will appear in the subaccount automatically?

I'm not sure about that. I had 5 lines and the sub account was automatically made for me and I lost the udp on the iPhone I had just picked up. Maybe if you already have a sub account before ordering or activating then it might work.

Yes you need to create it by calling in prior to trying the add a UDP via Apple.

I have 2 dumb phones on a sub account, 5 UDP lines on my regular account; if I order an iP6 with UDP it will show up on the sub?

Just cover all your bases and move 2 lines to your subaccount. I don't want to be responsible for a fluke

at least for mine, the discount is applied to the primary line. and if it's family share plan, discount reflects the talk and text.
but data part... not so sure.

I have a corporate discount on the base plan and the 20 dollar per line discount on 5 lines (talk txt data 20 dollar discount). This is why I am hesitant to transfer any of these lines to a subaccount. Whenever I have had to involve verizon in a change to one of these lines (i.e. moving from a data capable basic phone to smartphone a few years back) the discount has dropped off. It took months to get it back and I suspect now it would be impossible.

20 per line?! each udp is almost free then.....

Ouch move with extreme caution.

Yes - that it is the beauty of AOLing a UDP line - you can then turn it into your own UDP line factory.

But there is no 450 minute family plan. Minimum minutes is 700 on family plan.

Is that why I am not getting the option to add an unlimited data plan? I have a Nationwide 550 Family plan? Forgive me for not reading through the entire thread. I'm confused as to why I can't add an unlimited line like everyone else. I have an old family plan with 2 unlimited data lines.

Can someone post the price breakdown for monthly single Unlimited Plan ? I only have Family Share Plan. Need to know price after I do the AOL.

Quick question - if I'm selling a phone that's on a new line, how do I make sure that the person getting the phone isn't automatically on my line? Do I need to add a new device to the line via the web first?

Would like to offload the phone still sealed in the box if possible.

My understanding is that you do an AOL of the line, and they have to activate the line once you do the AOL. Then, when you sell the phone, the buyer will have to insert a new SIM card, because the current SIM card (inside the phone, inside the sealed box) is tied to a number that is on someone else's account, and it simply won't work.

So either physically meet up with the buyer with a sealed box, unseal it in front of them, and remove the current SIM, or say in your eBay description that the buyer will have to insert a new SIM in order for the phone to work.

I like the idea of the seller removing the SIM, that way you can ensure no issues.

let me know what you think, and what you end up doing

It depends on your state's taxes. For me, it comes to about $47/mo to add a UDP line to my nationwide family share plan.

----------

Can't you just stick a UDP onto a verizon ipad can call it a day?
No. Here is the situation - 2 UDP lines, 1 wifi only iPad. Cost is $85/mo for 700 minutes + unlimited texts + $40/mo per UDP line ($10 line access + $30 UDP) = $165/mo. If my mother could use her iPhone as a MHS, then the iPad has unlimited data, too for no extra charge.

If we do it your way, then the iPad can be a MHS, but my mother's iphone needs its own data plan so that would be another $40/mo = $205/mo. Plus I would have to buy her an LTE iPad.

I can't add one, either. If you have an older plan like you have and I have, you can only add lines through Verizon.

----------

2nd old line in process of BB method of getting on contract (phone is enroute), contract extended already
But you still have a pending order on your line so you can't add a line until you complete the BB method.

I can understand if it's not about the money but it's sad to see these plans going for so low on ebay now. Instead of everyone working together to make these more valuable, it's just a race to the bottom. :(
It's not sad for the buyers and that is how capitalism works. Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them.

Verizon Nationwide Talk & Text 450 - $59.99 monthly

Verizon Nationwide Talk & Text 900 - $79.99 monthly

Verizon Nationwide Talk & Text Unlimited - $89.99 monthly

+ $30 for the UDP data plan.

I have 450 Minutes for $39.99

250 texts for $5.00

and UDP for $29.99

Total cost (before any discounts/taxes): $74.98

You could also go with a pay-per use text msg plan and pay $69.98.

It's not about the money to me. It's about the potential of network congestion. With all this flood of unlimited data user there's going to be some 4g abuser in the bunch slowing down network for the rest of us. It's like having a nice day at the beach and suddenly the whole place is just too crowded with people to be able to swim leisurely or play freesby without running into someone.
I'm in, now shut the door so no one else can get in!

----------

now verizon, that is a greedy company, will have many more unlimited data users, lets see them try to throttle us again, mess with the FCC and loose so many new customers. its a win win for all of us.
Exactly - the more on contract UDP lines that are out there, the less willing Verizon will be to eff with us b/c that would be a lot of subsidy they paid and will lose if they have to let us out of our contracts without paying etf.

----------

just got restricted by ebay.... prob not far behind with verizon and apple......
what do you mean got restricted by ebay?
