I have a question for everybody I recently purchased a UDP plan via the Add a line method with the Apple store and also a 5C. I would like to sell both. Can somebody please walk me through the steps. I am very confused about the Sim card and whether it will be activated to the number if I sell the iPhone in the box. Do I need to act the activate the iPhone on the account first and then sell please can somebody walkwalk me through the steps after reading 50 pages of this thread my head is spinning. I'm just not sure of the exact steps. Thanks for all your help in advance

My advice: activate the phone and take the SIM card out. How i did all mine. Just makes it easier. Won't really lose value anyways.

Hi, I'm having trouble adding new UDP line and was wondering if anyone could help me out. When I proceed with the order, I get warning message saying I may need to make a deposit in order to place the order. When I click checkout, I'm only left with pick up option but all the stores says unavailable. I don't know if the supply is still short or if the system is glitched and is not letting me add UDP line because of deposit warning. I think I read somewhere that there is issue with credit but I don't know why that would be the case since I've never had overdue bills. If someone could help me out with this situation, I would be grateful.

Stock is low at most stores. I don't think you're experiencing anything out of the ordinary

What model are you looking for and where are you based?

I was just testing to see if it will work but I tried gray iPhone 6 16gb. I'm based in NJ.

Try other colors or color/memory combinations. 6+ is all sold out. 6 is hit and miss depending on the color/memory model you want.

I think there's a site that will notify you of stock in your area? Some other users here were using it. I never figured out what site that was though

Good luck!

Set alerts and use a tracker like istocknow.com .
Protip - Go through the add a line process and put an iPhone in your cart so you don't have to go through the entire add a line process again, you can switch the phone in your cart to one in stock before checkout.

oh haha I thought iPhone craze would've been over by now Thanks I just checked and one of them is available. Btw, is it okay to pick up in-store instead of shipping? Because that is the only option I get.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Pick up in-store seems to have the best success rate. Shipping has worked for some and not for others.

It's actually better to pick-up in-store when you do the DesertSilver Method b/c of the scan activation. Your line is created right away rather than the time activation that is hit or miss with ship to home.

The key things if I am remembering correctly is that you have to order the same texting plan on the line as is on your family plan and activate over cellular data. Is that correct guys?

Chill.

Some forum posts aren't making or breaking this whole thing.
By your logic, this thread should never have been made at all.

HEY VERIZON, BIG BUG ON APPLE'S SITE, YOU BETTER SHUT IT DOWN QUICK BEFORE YOU GO OUT OF BUSINESS! :p

Why make their job easier?
They probably don't care, but rather having 3 people to investigate this loop hole, bug, what have you for 3 days.
Now it's a one day job for one person.
You may not need any more lines/phones. I am far from that lofty goal of thirty.

is there anything I should avoid them from doing? or anything that I shouldn't do?

Most folks here canceled in-store if the scanning didn't go through. Apple reps will suggest to call Verizon, and users here would just cancel the order to prevent it. Not sure if they were successful after that.

Many folks would just add a new line + new number and pick up in-store. Apple rep scans it and everything goes smoothly. You can take the phone home and activate it there. Doesn't need to be in-store. New UDP line shows up on account and you're all set

If you run into problems and need to troubleshoot, you'll need to go through this thread and see if anyone has had similar problems.

Probably no one made it easier than me when I explained exactly what the problem is - upon query by Apple's system to get the info on your account, Verizon's system is returning all of the feature codes associated with your account when it should be withholding the feature code for UDP. THAT is what needs to be fixed. It's pretty simple code to write, but would require some testing to make sure it was implemented without effing something up.

Reporting success. My first in store new UDP activation failed. I returned today able to successfully activate the line in store after they scanned. Issue the first time was that I had 5 active lines. I went back today with 4 active lines. I chose UDP, along with pay as you go text.

Question for those with extra UDPs, can you suspend the line temporarily for a few days to months IF you don't plan on using it? Would the UDP remain? I recall reading some where that some people are hanging on to their lines but suspending them in the interim.

Don't quote me on this but it shouldn't affect UDP 180 days is what you can suspend a line per year I believe.

Just checked, option still available for me.

Ok, so I:

1. Order through apple.com for an in-store pickup.
2. Pickup the phone, don't let them activate it, and take it home.
3. Take out the sim in the iphone and put in a new one

Problem- I don't have a compatible sim (currently have a Galaxy s3). This is what someone else told me in another thread-
4. Go to Verizon.com and go to activate a phone, enter the phones serial number (on the box) and request a new sim card
5. Wait for it to ship, pop out the old sim, enter the new one, and I'm all done?

I've been trying to keep up with these threads. Still don't know what "AOL" stands for. I just want to make sure I got it right before I screw up and am stuck on 2 GBs forever. Thanks!

Is it necessary to choose pay as you go text if you have unlimited texting on all of your family plan lines?

No idea. But I originally had the 250 message for $5 plan for my other line. You can always change it I guess.. esp since theres no pending activation or anything.

Do you currently have unlimited data? You need to have that first. Does the option for unlimited data show up on apple.com? If not, it won't work for you. That option is the only way that you will get unlimited data.

Question for all:

Currently have a single line Nationwide Talk & Text 450 plan, month-to-month, UDP. I do not see the option for unlimited data when I add a line at apple.com

Is there any consensus that it seems to work more for people on family plans as opposed to single lines?

If so, would it make sense to convert my plan to a Nationwide Talk & Text shared plan (700 min) and activate an older phone for the second line so I could then use this method to procure an additional UDP line?

Thoughts?

Anyone?
