Mark, question re adding a line to a family plan,,,,

My line is an UDP month to month with an upgrade available. Wife's is a 2 gb line no upgrade. If I add a new line and pick the Apple UDP, and port over the wife's phone number onto the new UDP, what happens to the 2 gb wife's line?

She is still on contract til this time next yr.

thanks.

Apple estimates the activation of your phone to the time they think it will arrive. So, if they think it will arrive later in the month, the activation may not work until then. There are 2 stages of activation, the lines being added/work order being created (apple estimates this), and actually activating the device on the line. (Won't work until part one is done)

Any chance I can do this over the phone and tell the rep what you just said?

To be clear, Apple themselves have to contact Verizon about activating the line? Or do they just need to revise the activation date to today, and then I can contact Verizon?

Why would you want to????

I'm trying to imagine a scenario where I purchase a UDP/phone. I AOL the line, and then am unable to sell the phone.

I know it is not likely, but I'm just curious if I would be stuck with a $300 iPhone that I wouldn't want.

Not really sure. Just saying what other have said. I wouldn't risk losing your data plan... Personally I'd wait

I'll buy the phone, you definitely won't have that problem. Returning the phone within the return period *should* cancel the Verizon line.

I'm also imagining a scenario where there is an eBay dispute or something...or where someone says they didn't receive the phone...who knows. Though in that instance I'd probably be out of the 14 day window anyway.

Maybe better to sell in person. What do you think?

You could sell in person, or even to me. I buy and sell phones through PayPal and have many references from this forum as well as my ebay account

I had a Nationwide Talk/Text 450 - single line.

I was actually able to convert it to the Family plan with the VZW CSR without adding a second line at the time. So I currently have a Family 700 shared plan with only one line at the moment.

Originally I was unable to see an option on apple.com for the unlimited iPhone data when adding a new line.
Interesting, thanks!!!

As far as I know you need the Any Mobile Talk and Text plan for that.

The cheapest Any Mobile Talk and Text family plan is $85/mo for 700 minutes, unlimited text and each line is another $10/mo plus their data plan if any. So for 2 UDP lines it is $165/mo.

I believe the plan code is 0711 and you cannot go below unlimited texts.

So it has to be any mobile talk and text and not just talk and text?

Ugh nvm. I know

Very real risks so face to face cash is the best way. If you're not a feebay powerseller you'll get hit 15% between fleabay (10%) and paypile (5%) with a 180 day charge back risk

The buyer could literally smash the phone (by accident or on purpose) 4 months into owning it and still do a charge back

Yikes.

Does anyone know the process when/if the iPhone you pickup at an Apple store is defective? I activated the new UDP line and everything went well and see it on my account. But then I tried clicking the home button on the iPhone and it doesn't click. What happens when you return it? Will they just swap it out with a new one without messing with the line? Or will they have to cancel the whole line? Does anyone know the time frame for the line to be canceled and out of your account? Trying to move these things as fast as I can :). Is anyone else surprised at how long this loophole is lasting? It's great supplemental income! ;)

They should just do a replacement in this scenario. It will not affect your Verizon account.

Is This True?

Verizon AOL department says if you split a UDP line off of a family share plan into a subaccount it will no longer have UDP.

apple.com allowing me to add new iPhone to Verizon account with unlimited

That representative is incorrect or mistaken

I'll bet you my iPad's battery lasts 20 times longer than your phone - I will be away from a "plug" for two days.
I just use these things:

http://www.motorola.com/us/accessor...series/universal-power-packs-slim-series.html

You need a margarita (yes, I remember), and I need my Irish whiskey - they're different, but they get us where we need to go... :p
I need 5 margaritas to get to where I need to be!!!!!

We? As in VZW users, b/c that's what I need...
Yes!! Verizon is getting a GIGANTIC Nexus in about 2 weeks!!!!

After tiring of waiting for local stock, I used Best Buy to upgrade one line and then Apple.com to add a line with UL data as I did last week. There's been a change to the flow of the Apple.com ordering process...

After choosing what I wanted for the account and entering in my credentials, Apple's site gave me one option for a plan to add to - the Nationwide 700 Talk/Text Family plan others have mentioned above, which is different than last week (and earlier this week when I almost pulled the trigger). The account I wanted to add to has a 1400 Nationwide plan, with 4 lines. I clicked through on a second run - I closed the first session and cleared out all of the caches/cookies, then tried again.

Maybe picking nits here, but the change was enough for me to comment here. Now it's waiting time for the ship-to-home order from Apple, and I'll cancel the order if I can find a local option.
