well right now its the 2 gig plan on the new line, i don't know what else to do other than try over

You would need to return the phone and cancel the line. Then start over. Why keep a new line that doesn't have UDP.

----------

So even if you can't get a new UDP line, it seems that you can at least buy the phone at subsidized price, activate it for use on your old UDP line? Sort of like a free upgrade

That's assuming Verizon doesn't stick you with a line at some point in the near future but who knows.

I just placed an order for store pickup tomorrow. What the heck nothing to loose if it doesn't work I'll return phone and order online.

Heck maybe I'll get lucky and they'll let me take home to activate.

damn! I'm really frustrated, i did the sim swap thing with the unlimited line and it said it was activated except it really wasn't when i switched back the sims it said not activated. I called verizon and they activated it but its on a 2gb plan now, they obviously did something on their end and didn't tell me if they just selected a different plan when it clearly was on the unlimited. not sure what to do, its still showing up unlimited on verizons site maybe just return and try the in store pick up...

----------

they told me at first that it wasn't activating because they didn't think i would have gotten the phone this fast from apple, maybe if i had waited and let the system do its own thing

I'm confused. You said they put you on a 2gb plan, but it says unlimited on verizon site. How is that possible? How did you verify you were on a 2gb plan if Verizon is showing it as unlimited? Could you please elaborate?

Ordered another today for store p/u. Wife picked it up with no issues. At work so haven't activated yet but my Verizon shows another UDP line. I'll update when I get home about activating.

Be the heck ready to loose your unlimited data plan

I ordered on apple. Com, up in store, did the bb method, lost my udp, returned phone, now waiting for an answdr if i can get my udp back. Do some research .

I did my research and ordered by adding a line to my exisiting plan of 3 UDPs. Was able to active this morning finally after the heavy hit on Verizon activation servers. UDP intact on new line.

I would like to hear the exact steps you took that didn't allow you to activate your phone with the UDP.

Research?? 1. This thread is about adding a line on apple.com not bb method. 2. Adding a line has no effect to current lines. 3. I've already done it.

Hi imeyers/bornblind,

Right now I have the following 3 lines showing up on verizonwireless.com

1. Iphone 5S- Under 2 yr UDP contract
2. Samsung Galaxy S3- Month to Month, UDP
3. New Line- Added from #2. Says UDP, however I did not turn the Iphone 6 Plus on yet.

Am I safe to turn the Iphone 6+ bought from Apple.com, or do I need to use a sim card from phone #1 or phone #2, and use the sim card from #3 into #1 or #2.

Thank you very much in advance.

I'm not sure if you need to do the sim swap thing, that is just what I did because I wanted the new phone on the old number. So my experience is just based on sim swap. But if were to do it, the easiest would be from new 6 sim to 5s phone and vice versa.

I can't tell you for sure, but I would activate with the sim that came in the phone if your Verizon already shows it as unlimited.

Ok, thanks for the info!

Looks like the "safest" option would be to use the Iphone 5S sim in the Iphone 6+ and the Iphone 6+ Sim in the Iphone 5S.

I think I might just try that since that has at least been "confirmed" to work, whereas using the same that came with the Iphone 6+ with the same device hasn't been confirmed yet.

I'm still following this thread and over at Slickdeals.

4. Writing this to let you know others have used your "method" with success - yes, you now have a "method" named after your screen name: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=70593402&postcount=5555

And, I'll be trying it out in the next day or two.

Here I wrote the method up in easy to follow step-by-step instructions:

The iMyers Method is for those who already have at least one UDP line on their account. It doesn't work for everyone who has a UDP line, notably those with very old plans or special discounts.

1) Add a new UDP line via Apple.com and select ship-to-home*;
2) When you receive the new phone, do not turn it on or plug it in;
3) Remove the SIM card that ships with the new phone;
4) Remove your current UDP line phone's SIM card;
5) Place your current UDP line's SIM card in the new phone and the new phone's SIM card in your current UDP line's phone; and
6) Turn the phones on.

* if you select pick-up in-store, you will need to convince them to let you take the phone home unactivated. YMMV if they will let you do this or not.

3 other people besides iMyers have confirmed this works - DroidBricker, Silow and YouNameIt.

As far as I know you can order only 1 add a line at a time. At least it limited me to one but once you complete Order on first you can purchase again.

When you say complete, do you mean activated the first line successfully?

Thanks for the follow up. I have 3 UDP lines in "family" plan in an account, and can take on a 4th with no issue. I took note of the add-a-UDP line in both threads a few hours before pulling the trigger, but won't get all bent if I can't add a line with UDP.

As for walking out of the store as has been described, I would take the "NYer tack" as I'm from that State - visit the store when it's suitably busy, be assertive but not a jerk, and be very clear about what you want. That I'm 6"7" and 250# helps me get my point across as a customer, but I tend to be very respectful unless I don't get what I want as a customer - and be prepared to walk out. I can always point out that other customers have been allowed to leave with an unactivated iPhone 6 and expect the same treatment afforded those customers.

I'm avoiding the weekend crowd but will look to arrive in an Apple Store around the lunchtime rush... Cheers!

Thanks iMyers/Jules

Took the "safest" route and used the Iphone 5S sim in the Iphone 6+ and vice versa and all three lines are showing UDP as of right now.

Will continue to monitor over this and next billing cycle but fingers crossed!

but won't get all bent if I can't add a line with UDP.
I wasn't able to add one and neither were 2 of my friends who would have added lines and let me AOL them. I AM bent out of shape about it, lol!

That and the fact that Best Buy still has the 16GB iPhone 5s for $200 has put me in a foul mood! I need to get my upgrade done with so I can move on with my life.
