Yeah, I am on chat with Apple now. Seeing if I can come up with a remedy
This absolutely stinks and I would be fuming!! I don't know this works anymore. I used to work at a large online music retailer ages ago just outside Philly, folded in 2001. But If UPS, FedEx, USPS any carrier failed to deliver, there were no nonsense investigations...we, the company were ultimately responsible and would rectify it immediately. Apple chooses these carriers..therefore the responsibility should be solely on Apple. It's a phone you purchased for well over 900-1000K total..Apple has more money than God to replace it immediately and they can deal with the carrier and the lost phone.

Ok, I’ll be that guy..

1000K!

The first million dollar iPhone!

How do you block numbers easily now?

As mentioned, the block function.

Or, can use an app. For example, I am currently using the Hiya app. Has dramatically cut number of spam calls. Only ones leaking through are the spoofed numbers that are the same first six digits of one's cell number, and the odd number or two that are not yet in Hiya's database (in those cases, I block the number and report it via the Hiya app).

ADD: another thing that can be done to ease spam, but might be a pain to initially set up: silent ring tone for default, and then assign a tone to your contacts that you do want to ring. So, if the number is not in contacts, phone will not make a peep. Still interrupts music, video, etc. but with a blocking app and this, no disruptions.

Nuclear option is to put the phone into a 24x7 do-not-disturb and use Favorites or some other Contacts Group to organize the callers you want to get through. Downside, phone makes no noise except for callers on the approved list (no text, e-mail, tweet, etc).

Wow. Mine still says preparing for shipment. And I ordered Friday at 9:48am. Lol. I’m happy for you! Hopefully mine changes today sometime and I get mine Monday too. A little bummed mine is shipping after people who ordered later than I did. Haha. But oh well. I get to anticipate longer and that’s over half the fun right? :)

Yeah it’s honestly insane that mine is showing up first. I’m almost always in your shoes, where I wake up at 2am to order on launch day then watch people that lazily woke up around 10am and placed an order and they get theirs first. Try tracking by reference number on Fedex, enter your phone number with area code.

Yeah, I swing between furious and depressed.

Anyway. HA! thanks for the laugh. Much appreciated atm.

Apple opened an investigation. Offered either a replacement or a refund. I rolled the dice and selected replacement. I should hear from them in 48hrs about what comes next. Apple rep says the investigation process should take about 4 business days. UPS said theirs would take about 8 business days (so likely week after this coming week they might get back with me).

I understand it's UPS that screwed up. But "it only takes one" as they say; to sour the whole experience.

I'm listening to a melancholy Beck album (Morning Phase) to soothe myself :(

Nothing - thanks for the link tho. Been checking UPS by reference and Fed Ex by reference. 3 days preparing shipping now. lol. Oh well, I'll look at the positive side - next Tuesday I should have a phone. I'll try not to be offended if it still says Preparing for Shipment tonight. :p

Also an old trick to ONLY have the number in your contacts call you. Few settings to have to tweak however.

Other apps mentioned here.

Yeah, the national Do Not Call Registry (US) is worthless. The FTC and FCC refuse to actively prosecute (or even follow up) on reports of abuse. At best, that is a placebo... and about as effective. Also, you have to renew your number every few years. Really? List the numbers forever. Then take some legitimate action. Spoofing is also a major problem... thankfully, I have a landline (with the ringer turned off) for that. I get very few spam/robo/solicitation calls on my cell.

Those 70 or so numbers that I mentioned were accumulated over about 8-10 years.

The DNC list really is a big joke and when sites mention it...forget it, I ignore that stupidity. Some of these idiots hitting my cell phone leave VM's claiming they are from the IRS and I'm being sued and I need to call them back (yeah, sure...) Or "My Google Listing is out of date." Shut up!!

Spoofing US, even local numbers is out of control..many of these come from overseas from computers. I have a landline also..which I will finally be getting rid of in Dec. Old number I've had since the 80s, it's absolutely pointless now. That number is like a email account where you get 100+ spam emails per day. The number of Robocalls hitting that number now has become unbearable and my ringer is always off on it also!! I literally get 8-9 per day on that line.

Am I the only one that has his phone on mute 100% of the time? If it is important, they'll leave a voicemail, if they don't and they call back more than once, bam blocked. 99.999% of the people I contact are via Telegram, SMS, or email. This includes work.

Spam calls are incredibly out of control.

100% mute crew. I have an Apple Watch, I don’t need my phone to ring or vibrate.

It was little strange, about 2 minutes after I activated the new phone. I get a call - from some unknown number - Nothing all that new really, been getting hit with these annoying robo calls now :mad:

BOTH 6+ and 8+ phones rang, even though my iPhone 6+ said "No Service" I guess it does take time for these to fully br removed from the network.

Crazy! I had the opposite. Kept trying to call my mobile number from my landline to test, and neither phone would ring. At least it all sorted itself out!

My wait is over, my iPhone 8+ Gold 256gb (AT&T) was just delivered via FedEx. The final details. I placed my order at 11:38pm CDT on Sept 19th. I used the Apple Upgrade Program for the first time. Original estimated date of delivery was Sept 26th but it delivered today. I am in Northwest Florida.

I preordered mine on September 15 for store pick up at the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade store. Went last night during my window between 7-7:30pm and it was a breeze picking it up.

I bought the gold iPhone 8 Plus 256gb. I love it! :) Now I need to sell my iPhone 7 Plus.

Can you get one from Apple? like at the store or something.
Not sure how that works if it's an apple.com order. Maybe if Apple investigation follows through and agrees that it's lost, maybe they can request it for store pick up. That might work if the Apple store is near you though.
