Will favoring your selection on the Apple app help speed things up?

Yes

I went through the process with the Iphone 8 and imported the information from my contact in the last step and it keeps giving an error that my name must be alphanumeric characters only... tried it 5 times... that'll be the thing to screw me

I'm buying an AT&T at full price but was worried about the billing address. The billing address is my home address, but I want it shipped to my apartment here at college. When I practiced ordering with apple pay for iP8 it shows my apartment address as an option so I will be able to choose it. Does anyone know if this will cause an error or if I should be fine? Worth changing my billing address? I don't remember if I changed it last year but I had my 7plus shipped to my apartment then too.

Can someone who successfully completed the iPhone Upgrade Program process (preapproval then pre-order) through the Apple Store app for iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, detail their steps to completing the pre-order on the app that night? (Like physically where you go in the app.)

I don’t want to be fumbling around in the Apple Store app tomorrow morning.

According to that, it just pops up in the app, 3 clicks and you’re done

I dealt with this a few years ago. AT&T required the iPhone to be shipped to the billing address. My girlfriend lived with me but her billing address was her parents house. It had to be shipped there. I recommend changing your billing address. You can always change it back afterwards...

I have a question about buying through the Apple app.

Right now, I can select an iPhone X, indicate I want to replace my current iPhone, pick a finish, pick storage capacity, and how I'll pay, but when I get to the AppleCare+ screen, the "Continue" button is disabled.

When it goes on sale tonight, will this "Continue" simply become enabled, or do you have to start from the beginning? If it won't simply become enabled, can you bounce back and forth between the "How would you like to pay?" and AppleCare+ screen and wait for the moment when it happens to be enabled?

Is all unlocked the same? I plan on buying two - one for AT&T and another for Sprint.
I thought the rumblings were that the unlocked (or as they call it "sim free") phones won't be available at launch in the US?

If you're asking if the models are the same - no - the iPhones for Sprint and Verizon have a Qualcomm modem in them as they need CDMA support. (the AT&T/T-Mobile phones have Intel modems as they don't need to support CDMA).

Hey all along i have been under the impression that if you were signing up new for the upgrade program tonight it would be slower than just buying it outright... but I just read on imore that you in fact hold your place in line during the approval process.... just thought I’d share for anyone in same boat... and to see if anyone didn’t agree with imore :)

What doesn’t make sense then is why you would need to get your preapproval done- if your place in line is held it wouldn’t matter... unless it’s just to reduce approval traffic etc...

Guys is there any possible way that on the final checkout page when the Apple Pay terminal prompt comes up that tells you to put your fingerprint on the touchid to finish checkout somehow Apple Pay will mess up or ask for some unexpected last digits of card or anything of that sort that will throw me off from finishing the check out?

The billing address in the Wallet app for the VISA card I’m going to use is my current address and I verified multiple times and the wallet app says “CHASE FREEDOM VISA” is ready for Apple Pay

No.

If upgrading using AT&T Next, at what point does the Apple site ask for your account info to check eligibility? Seems idiotic to have people wait until pre orders begin.

I’ve noticed an odd behavior in the wallet app for my VISa card where the billing address reverts to my old address (I recently moved 6 months ago), not sure why this is happening this could potentially cause a problem for me tonight this happend twice now in the last 24 hours

Is The wallet app or Apple Pay retrieving my “old” address from somewhere else? I have my new address updated in the App Store and pretty much across the board I don’t know why Apple Pay is retrieving my old address in the billing address section in the wallet app

Quick, and possibly silly, question - how will the Apple Store app refresh at 12:01? Will the X automatically show up ready to order, or do I need to keep closing and opening it back up?

Why are folks saying billing address needs to be same as shipping? AT&T has multiple address fields on their site.

Because right now the system is not letting it to be shipped to a different address than the billing address. I just changed the address for the primary shipping and went through the process ordering the 8 and when I get to the billing screen it has the shipping address as the billing address and it won’t let me edit it!!!!

I saw an interesting tip to get it earlier - select for home delivery and then the day before, ask ups or fedex to hold it at depot. It will then be there for you from 8am apparently.

That’s what I do when preordering and I’m able to pick my phone up at 8am, since UPS and FedEx deliver in my neighborhood between 6-8pm.

I thought i read that somewhere. Do you by chance have the link for that article?

I was just told by a Verizon chat rep that I have to have a post-paid account in order to pre-order the iPhone X. Is this true for the Apple Website?

Yup... done this last 2 iPhone launches.

Instead of dealing with Apple Store lines or waiting until UPS or FedEx to deliver. But the last couple of times I’ve dealt with UPS, which has been a smooth process.

It's never worked like that before. The Apple Store always goes down completely while they update it so there's no way to stay on that page and refresh. You'll have to start from scratch. Myself and others are getting to that point and then favoriting it and that will bring you back to that step a lot quicker.
