Yes

I went through the process with the Iphone 8 and imported the information from my contact in the last step and it keeps giving an error that my name must be alphanumeric characters only... tried it 5 times... that'll be the thing to screw me
Now I’m confused.

I was just told by a Verizon rep that I have to have a post-paid account in order to pre-order the iPhone X. Is this true for the Apple Website?
Yes because you dont have a account to login with or put in for it

It's never worked like that before. The Apple Store always goes down completely while they update it so there's no way to stay on that page and refresh. You'll have to start from scratch. Myself and others are getting to that point and then favoriting it and that will bring you back to that step a lot quicker.

Favoriting helps to remove color, capacity and carrier steps. Only step left is carrier check and Apple Pay afterwards which I’m sure plenty will choose this method.

Yup... done this last 2 iPhone launches.

Instead of dealing with Apple Store lines or waiting until UPS or FedEx to deliver. But the last couple of times I’ve dealt with UPS, which has been a smooth process.

It’s much easier for me and everyone at the UPS CC get a kick out of everyone coming in to get their new iPhone. Last year I was the first one to pick mine up.

Exactly! should speed things up a little bit at least.

So if I'm on AT&T do you think it would be quicker to order the AT&T version or T-Mobile? I was thinking T-Mobile because it would be two clicks and you don't have to through the account verification process. But someone brought up that bots might be going after the T-Mobile version because of the same thing.

For those Verizon users, do u have to pay the $30 activation fee or upgrade fee every time u purchase a Verizon model iPhone from Apple which links to your phone number? Just found out I have to, unless I'm getting the sim-free model. Can I bypass the activation fee by using my current Verizon Sim card instead of the new SIM to activate the new iPhone X?

I was like the 2nd... in my area we had about 6 or 7 lined up to get there iPhone.

I honestly think it’s the best method... a member on Macrumors advised me of this.

I am wondering this exact thing. Right now the plan is TMobile model first then ATT as a back up.

Yes. That is my plan unless I see something change with the TMobile purchase process.

One thing I’m optimistic about.. is Apple is providing 4 different carrier options and 8 different model selections. And I think those who are buying it outright through T-Mobile to eliminate carrier check... going to go super quick!

It always excites me when I get up to the counter and everyone waiting around ask if it’s the new iPhone. My UPS CC said they get between 50-100 people on launch day picking theirs up.

SO I just talked to my local Apple Store and they said if you buy the phone on pre-order and then pick it up in the store and bring your old phone in they will credit back the money from the trade in back to your card you used to make the purchase.

Now here is my question, when buying if I use the Black Apple Pay button will it still allow for In Store pickup or will it make you ship the phone. I know that if you choose "other payment" option instead of the black ApplePay button you can choose in store pickup or shipping....

Should still be able to choose store pickup

I have a single Verizon Line, and will be pre-ordering through the Apple Store APP.

When I did a dry run with an iPhone 8, after verizon account verification I tried to add 2 phones to my basket.. I got a message saying you can only have 1 carrier activated phone in the bag at a time.

Anyone know if this means I'll only be able to order a single phone, or if I have to do it as two separate transactions? Any experiences from last year would be much appreciated.

Why not simply do this yourself right now? That is far easier and will teach you more than someone typing it out here.

Go in an choose an iPhone 8 and select the iPhone Upgrade Program. You can see all the steps and questions. It won't actually do anything (like credit check) until the final step where you complete the order so feel free to play around and learn the process.
That's not what I'm inquiring about. I'm specifically asking about the iPhone Upgrade Program and the steps you take on pre-order night after you've received preapproval. The only other individuals to perform this were the people that completed it for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Because right now the system is not letting it to be shipped to a different address than the billing address. I just changed the address for the primary shipping and went through the process ordering the 8 and when I get to the billing screen it has the shipping address as the billing address and it won’t let me edit it!!!!

So you are changing the billing address of your credit card? I've never had to do that before.

Or are you saying that AT&T's billing address needs to match the shipping address?

I think you have to go through the process again for the second phone.

Like verification, etc...

Can someone tell me the process for ordering through the Apple app with ATT next? I just want to know what to expect since my brain probably wont be working at 3am.

Thanks!
