I have a Sprint account but need a CDMA phone to use on another carrier. I believe if I pay full price, you should get an unlocked X...

Does anyone know if its a problem to "Buy as a new iPhone on an existing wireless account" and just never activate it on Sprint? Immediately activate it on Verizon or a different carrier?

I never had my credit checked before so what information would they need? A credit card? Or ssn, income, etc.?I’ve never put a freeze on my credit so I should be good right? Is that something I should do after preorder? Sorry for all the questions I’m new to this.

When you opened a credit card, get a loan, etc, it's standard process to pull a credit check. For Apple, I believe the website will ask for your SSN, birthday, home address, and annual income. I highly doubt Apple will let you enroll in IUP without a credit check first. The credit check is pretty fast...maybe 5-10 seconds..

Good luck.

I'm an existing IUP and finished the pre-approved qualification - I had to enter my social, bdate, income, etc.

My question - do I need to unfreeze credit? Because of the Equifax hack, I had frozen my credit. If I get pre-approved message from iphone, then I should be good to go?

thanks,
i got preapproved and as far as I can see I never had the credit pulled. I have like three services that notify me as soon as an inquiry is done and I never got anything when I got preapproved.

I’m pretty sure it’s locked to sprint.

Thank you so much for all your help. I definitely feel more prepared now knowing what information will be expected. I want to be as prepared and ready as possible at 3am. I don’t want any surprises if I can help it. It’s going to be a long night. Lol.

Good luck to you as well.

I use T-Mobile but want to buy a Verizon at full price on Apple.com to help maximize resale value down the line, and in case I need the bands for traveling.

I can do this without a Verizon account on apple.com right?

Thanks guys.

Guys I have a very important question, so if the shipping address in the Apple Store app on the iPhone is under my name and my home address but I’ll be paying with my brother’s credit card which I set up in Apple Pay, should I expect any issue with the checkout? We have the same address and my shipping address is the same as the billing address of his credit card as we live together. The only thing different is his name obviously

I wouldn't think so. Not exactly the same, but I've ordered, say, pizza with my contact info only using my fiancee's credit card. I don't think you'd have a problem.

Great. I feel like there was a time when you could do that. Guess I'm stuck with a T-Mobile phone.
They’ll verify a vzn address/account. Presumably you can find someone who has vzn and isn’t getting a phone and use their login? You could also wait for the fully unlocked one to come out in a month or so ;-)

Thanks for the reply, can anyone else please chime in on this?

Hi there, I have a couple questions.

1. I just read somewhere that people are saying you will only be able to pre-order one X per Apple ID. Anyone happen to know anything about this?

2. I went through and favorited the two phone configurations I want to pre-order but was confused about what to select for the second phone when it asked if it was going to replace the phone I was on or add a new phone to a plan. I will be upgrading two lines. Does anyone know from past experience how you go about using two different line upgrades when using the app.

Thanks so much and good luck to everyone!!! :D

Yes you can do that. I just talked to Apple customer service twice and they said if you use the pay in full option on any carrier then you get an unlocked phone. But of course you need to choose verizon or sprint to get the CDMA + GSM version of the iPhone x unlocked, choose the ATT/T-Mobile version to get GSM only unlocked. Any other payment options are locked to the carrier. I personally am buying the Sprint version of the phone since my friend is letting me use their account details, so that I can activate on my family's Verizon account. (I have some family issues so this is my way of going around the account owner). I'm just gonna pop the SIM card from my iPhone 6 plus into the X and then I'm ready to rock and roll. And for whom it may concern, please be aware, if you go the pay in full route/swap sim in, remember that if you have an insurance plan for you phone through your carrier(like Asurion) you might have to update the coverage to cover the X since its a different phone/more expensive.

If I create a new VZW account, order the X tonight thru Apple (they do an account verification) and wait for the confirmation email and then cancel my VZW account, does Apple check the account before shipping or will I be OK? Or will Apple cancel the order Before shipping?

I've seen a couple of comments to the effect that people were told that there was such a short supply that they were going to limit it to 1, but nothing official. It's always been 2, but we will find out for sure in a few hours.

On second thought I stand corrected you’re absolutely right. Even if you finance the sprint phone, when you’re done making payments they unlock it, so it makes sense that if you buy it in full it comes unlocked.

If I buy the X straight out from Apple will I still get an activation fee from ATT? Plus it’s not clear to me how much Apple gives you for your old device if part of the upgrade program?
