Alright, so I just found out information after caling UPS multiple times. Basically UPS has an agreement with Apple not to deliever any iPhone shipments before 9/21. It doesn't matter if your iPhone has shipped woth standard shipping or Next Day Air you will get it on 9/21 not before. Currently iPhone shipments are being placed in stragic locations. The most popular one is UPS Worldport in Louisville, KY. You may not have seen a scan for Louisville but iPhone shipments from Addison,IL are en route to Louisvlle, KY and will be held there most likely for a day then make there way to local hubs. You probably haven't seen the scan for Louisville because they didn't scan it. They probably have the iPhone shipments in a tractor waiting. The main reason UPS is placing iPhone shipments in stragic locations is to avoid delievering them ealry. I have worked for UPS in the past and trust me they can get a package from LA to NYC overnight.

I'm starting to get the sense that the overwhelming # of i5's pre-ordered is going to cause major logistic problems for people getting their phones on the 21st. Someone start a thread up title "Where the F is my iPhone!" If your i5 isn't confirmed in the Louisville be later tonight, you can probably kiss a friday delivery good-bye. Status updates for delivery will start to push out further and further from this point forward. (i hope i'm wrong).

Relax, UPS can get a package anywhere across the US overnight. I use to work for them. Not all iPhone that have arrived at Louisville, KY have been scanned. The shipments are being held there. That is why people aren't seeing their shipments being in transit. UPS doesn't want to deliever early.

At the moment Apple still owns the phone. Apple probably considers the phone to be in the staging process. Its assigned to your order for record keeping and inventory control purposes until they charge your credit card. Then you own it.

The charge hit my credit card yesterday (the last day of my statement cycle, no less), but it still lists as "preparing for shipment." Anyway, I know it's arriving on Friday since I found the tracking number.

Just checked UPS with my phone number! Still in China! It'll be next day air to the states! I drive for UPS so I think I may be the first here in the USA to get my phone! Lol I'm gonna get it off the truck at 745 in the morning! Lol 32g black n slate!

My iPad made it from China to Oklahoma overnight. If your "i5" isn't confirmed out for delivery on 9/21, then I'd kiss a Friday delivery goodbye.

Last night I did the search on ups and found it.
Days b4 would not show up.

Mine is in NASHVILLE, TN US.

I called ups and asked y does my next day air show 3days left?
Put me on hold and told me apple is holding all shipments for shipment on friday.
I told them it not this phone your talking about and was not and item from apple.
They told me the shipper is apple so we have to hold it.
Or call apple and have them release the hold.
I told them the place I perched from must have drop shipped it from apple.
lol looks nothings working to get it sooner.

Repost of this:

I feel like it would be good to keep a running overall summary that can be posted and updated frequently. I'm probably not the person to maintain this as I will be in rural Alabama/Mississippi tomorrow and not very available.

Updated OP as ColdCase suggested.

If anyone else has suggested edits/additions, please let me know.

We all knew this. Why are you annoying them? I hope they spit on your iPhone. :p

Finally, an informative post. Thanks for this BostonR.

Again, apples and oranges. And yes, they DO have an idea how many they are getting.I saw on the screen that they had 12 originally and only 2-3 left to fill, including mine.I will get mine 1st thing Friday morning.

I have experienced on previous orders and I can tell you, they have no idea how much inventory they are getting for any one model or to what carrier. It's always worth a shot, but that deposit guarantees you nothing. As example, I did the deposit thing last with a 4s through BestBuy. They did not get the one I wanted in and of course said they would let me know when it was available however I ended up having to go to another city to get one on launch day...my local BB called me 6 weeks later.

Good luck.

My store only had 12 total, and 3 still available when I left.I called this afternoon at 455 ET and they still has 2 Verizon available,no Sprint or AT&T.
There is a new ordering system this year.I saw what is available on their screen, otherwise I would not have cancelled both my orders for 10/5.

Careful - I've heard RadioShack tends to overstate the number they'll have on release and people who think they have preordered are still empty handed while waiting on a new shipment. I hope it works out for you but it's something to look into for anyone else reading.

I was only offering my previous experience with third party (yes not RS but my local RS wouldn't know a battery from a flame thrower). I do hope you get yours on Friday and look forward to your post stating you did.

Cheers
