Apple.com Preorder Status Thread (merged)

guys, your package isn't moving and has been sitting in IL, KY, etc. cause (taken from UPS' website)

Why isn't my package moving? The packages are being staged in key locations and moved on a coordinated schedule for delivery on the shipper's planned release date, Friday, September 21, 2012.

There are scanning glitches in the system, sometimes packages are mixed some time duplicated. Sometimes the search adds items. Do the both have the same reference numbers? I think its just a quirk.

Very interesting! Same situation here. My building in NYC usually gets two UPS deliveries a day...one in the morning and one around 7pm. I'm REALLY hoping my phone gets on the morning truck!

I read on here that you have to have an iOS 6 backup to pull from for your iPhone 5. An iOS 5 backup won't work for restore. I'm just relaying a post from the iOS6 section. Sorry if that's incorrect

Phew. This makes sense. I was curious about that as I've never seen a 'processing' charge appear and then vanish leaving the funds in its place.

I'll check up on it again later this afternoon to see if it has been taken away.

Yeah. I don't care really what time I get it. It would be great if earlier but if it's later okay. As I have the day off of work since I'm having utility work done in the morning.

Yep. I have speedway and home depot authorizations & charges do this on my CC all the time. Authorizations are either $1 or show up in the correct amount. Eventually that authorization disappears and the actual charge shows up.

Don't worry, apple will be glad to take your $ lol :)
 
This kind of answer seems to get a lot of flack around here, but I was able to pre-authorize that UPS can leave it at my door right from the UPS website... Maybe that's just me though.

Still not listed as "Shipped" from Apple so I can't pre-authorize anything with them, but I was able to last year.

Edit: Also, I haven't been able to see my serial number on the support profile at any point. That's making me kind of nervous.
 
Does anyones order still just say processing? Mine briefly switched to preparing for shipment on Monday then back to processing ever since. It says deliver by 21 on the Apple site.

Yeah...good steps. Call Apple and UPS complaining about a package that hasn't arrived before it's supposed to.

What is wrong with people? :confused:

Case-Mate.com The case for my iPhone4 came from there, I customized it with a picture I took. I just ordered a case from there to hold me over until they come out with more. Good tough cases without a lot of bulk.

I dunno, I had to use my ATT family plan master phone number. There are a few here that, in past releases, never received any info prior to the box showing up on their doorstep.

Recently the only thing showing up on the shipping reference section is a phone number and a 10 character code. So just search phone numbers. Hopefully Apple will release tracking numbers soon and that puts your mind at ease.
 
My phone departed China at 4:32 PM to Illinois....... where there are already several iPhones staged. Gotta love it.

I used an icloud backup from an ios5 device (that was even jailbroken) to a fresh ios6 install no problem the other day.

LOL...leave them alone. Just because you don't see a scan doesn't mean it's not moving. Additionally, despite what UPS is telling you, our phones are being held in warehouse locations until they are ready to ship on Friday. This means they may sit longer than usual.

Last year I didn't get a single scan update until the iPhone was delivered. Everyone needs to stop overanalyzing this stuff. It should be just for fun, nothing more. Don't read too much into any scan or lack thereof.

NOW we all know why Apple hasn't changed our status to Shipped.

Are you also having something else shipped? Perhaps you pre-authorized a non apple phone shipment.

I don't think I've read here of anyone thats found the right tracking number that doesn't also have the phone SN. Just wondering out loud if you are tracking what you think you are tracking.
 
Presently I am unable to print a signature release authorization as my status on apple.com hasn't changed. Will this option be available for the iPhone 5? I will be at work during the day and would like to have it left at home. Would it be better to change the place of delivery to the local UPS depot?

When Apple changes your order over to "Shipped" it should give you the option.
