Presently I am unable to print a signature release authorization as my status on apple.com hasn't changed. Will this option be available for the iPhone 5? I will be at work during the day and would like to have it left at home. Would it be better to change the place of delivery to the local UPS depot?

Thanks

Marc

I don't think anyone knows for sure. The phones aren't officially shipping yet and folks have been getting conflicting answers from UPS staff. From what I hear, you will be able to pick up your phone Monday unless your local office has weekend hours. You can't pre-sign.

Can we bold that and show it flashing across the top of this thread to end all these questions?

No No, we need 10,000 posts...

I dunno, I had to use my ATT family plan master phone number. There are a few here that, in past releases, never received any info prior to the box showing up on their doorstep.

Recently the only thing showing up on the shipping reference section is a phone number and a 10 character code. So just search phone numbers. Hopefully Apple will release tracking numbers soon and that puts your mind at ease.

I don't think any of the Canadian customers have been able to successfully find their tracking info. But my two carrier (Rogers) phones are waiting at the store to be picked up on Friday. For once Rogers trumps apple. Weird.

Just leaving Korea where my phone was exchanged out for a yellow tint version......

On Apple.com, I still see preparing to ship

On support.appple.com there is a serial number.:D

UPS.COM says deliver on 9/21 before 10:30AM.:D:D:D

My iPhone is a cross upgrade, so I have to call AT&T before I even turn it on or my wife's phone will shut off and she won't be happy about that. Plus, I need to get off this flip phone.

So, that's why I'm hoping for the earliest possible delivery.

Now, to reprogram my brain so I get off this yearly upgrade cycle. Its annoying me (3GS-4-4S).:(

FWIW I talked a friend that works nights at the UPS hub in Louisville and she said some iPhones have been there since at least Monday night. I told her to pick mine up for me but she said they aren't allowed to touch/distribute the crates until Thursday. I don't know how they could do it Thursday if they have to be shipped clear across the country though.

THURSDAY??? aarrgghh, mine has been sitting there since 12:07am yesterday. Well good to know when to expect some movement. I'm in Central FL, only a couple plus hours from KY, so I guess I can expect it'll arrive at UPS here by early Friday morning and go out on the truck for delivery. Thanks for the info.

I'm always hesitant to trust the "friend of a friend's cousin's next door neighboor, whose brother's cousin's teacher, knows the guy at UPS..."

Woo!!! I got a delivery estimate, used to say 3PM (end of day residential)... Now: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1348068885.163509.jpg

I read on here that you have to have an iOS 6 backup to pull from for your iPhone 5. An iOS 5 backup won't work for restore. I'm just relaying a post from the iOS6 section. Sorry if that's incorrect

Whoever posted that is full of it. Unless they changed something in the final release to make iCloud not be backwards compatible (doubtful) it will work fine using an iOS 5 backup on iOS 6. The reverse however, is not true. You can't use an iOS 6 backup on iOS 5.

Before I updated to the first iOS 6 beta seed I backed up with iOS 5 and was just fine restoring from that backup after iOS 6 loaded.

Here's a quick question...

When ordering Apple wouldn't let me change the shipping address to be different from the billing address. I was able to change it the next morning though. Got an email confirming this.

When tracking via UPS, it shows the destination as my billing address (of course it only shows city, but that is different in this case).

Any thoughts on this, other than it sucks for me?

No, I know for sure. 100%. Apple Requires a signature at time of delivery when shipped UPS. The signature release sticky is only to release packages that do not require signature requested by the shipper. They are for, for example, apartments where it is not safe for the ups driver to release the package as it could be stollen so he must obtain a signature even when not required by the shipper. Where as a house in a nice neighborhood, the risk is low and may be able to be placed out of sight so the UPS Driver will leave the package when then shipper does not require a signature.

Apple(the shipper) Requires A Signature be obtained at time of delivery. Therefor Your UPS driver may not release this package without a signature in person due to APPLE'S Request!
YOU(or someone at the Address) HAVE TO BE THERE!!!!

A lot of people on here are driving themselves crazy for no reason. First of all the phones won't be on any planes until tomorrow, to be overnight shipped. Secondly, if your date says 9/21, you WILL get the phone 9/21. UPS is backed up, their updates are very far behind. Whether your tracking says Alaska or Kentucky it means nothing. To track the phone for the fun is understandable, but to actually stress about it is really ridiculous. The only people that should be stressing on here are peope with no tracking number or a pushed back delivery date.

Hence why I am stressed. Mine says deliver on the 21st but no number yet. :(

Will people be stalking mailboxes for these things?

Mine has looked liked that for 2days. I'm sure it's just a glitch.

If it's a 16gb model (i.e., shipping from U.S.) you can sign up for UPS My Choice (free) and reroute the package to where you would like. If it's a 32 or 64gb model then you can not change the shipping address since it's an international order.

read through the thread....for the iphone it is by the end of the day...so the times are useless.

Probably an estimation based on previous deliveries to this location. It may be the time usually hits this area of his route. Ofcourse with the additional volume, especially if your at the end of the drivers route. Your delivery time may change possibly up to 1-2 hrs. Every Apple Delivery will require a signature slowing the drivers day down. Hopefully for the driver & everyone else left waiting on his route you will all be looking out the window waiting, anticipating and be ready when he/she comes to the door!

I don't think Apple is allowing ANY redirects if you go through UPS.

It is a 64Gb. And, Technically I changed the address with Apple. Am I just SOL?

Again talking about something you don't know jack about.
Keep spreading misinformation....seriously just quit posting you newb!

You can not presign or leave a note etc. with UPS for your iPhone delivery.

No need to yell. What you have described may be the case THIS year, but I can tell you for certain that with the release of last year's 4S, I had the option to presign (with UPS) from the Apple site once the phone order status changed to shipped.

Mine says deliver on the 21st but on Apple.com still says processing and no shipping yet. Will I get it on time?
