I called UPS this morning and finally wrestled out of the rep that indeed my iPHone 5 has left Louisville and is headed for Orlando. She said that it was on a "trailer", not a plane because it's traveling between US locations. She also confirmed that the 10:30am delivery time is guaranteed. Then she said that I could submit a same day will call request. I told her that online the first will call date is Sept 24 and she said that's because the same day will call option only becomes available once the package has reached its destination. She said to keep tracking and to submit the request once it arrives in Orlando. Just passing it along in case it helps any of you.

If they keep the date as 9/21 ok.
But If they could not deliver until the end of the day, there is a open door for possible following days. It sounds like the commitment is not delivering before 9/21 and no wording for the next days.
Mine is coming by UPS Next Day Air Saver which says deliveries by 3 pm. My week 36 phone had already been staged in Nashvile. Those getting phone UPS Worldwide Express directly from China do get guaranteed delivery by 10:30 according to UPS site. I can wait a few hours but it would have freed up my day to have a 10:30 guarantee.
I guess my phone wasn't on the flight that left at 3am today. There is another flight from Louisville to Portland Oregon that leaves at 4:16pm EDT and arrives in Portland at 5:25 PDT. All phones coming to people in the Portland metro area should be on this flight, IMHO...
Yeah, your right, the new message seems to say UPS is no longer committed to deliver by the end of day Friday, just that they won't start delivering until Friday. Who said this is good news?
Yes, I took that with a grain of salt. However, I have had UPS stop a package from being loaded onto a truck and held at the facility instead. Nonetheless, I'm not going to request a will call because I'm afraid it will mess everything up. I'm going to call into work late and will wait until it's delivered, hopefully by 10:30.
I thought there wasn't a second flight to Boeing International (seattle ups hub), but I was wrong. There is a flight at 4:02 pm today KY time. I think iPhones coming to the greater Seattle area will be on that flight.
It means that people that are seeing a 10:30AM commitment will actually receive it by then instead of "by the end of the day".
It doesn't negatively impact everyone that had by the end of the day or just 9/21 as they will still receive the phone on 9/21.

Does anyone show delivery dates after 9/21 but before 10/5?
If not, why not? Why would orders placed before roughly 4am EST arrive 9/21 & orders placed a few minutes later be delayed 2 weeks until October 5? Isn't production a continuous pipeline, so new batches become available every day? It does not make sense that there would be a full 2 week gap in availability.
Does that mean the 2 week jump to Oct 5 is just a rough worst-case estimate, and some phones will actually arrive every day after 9/21, even if they said "Available to ship: 2 weeks/ Oct 5?"

Mine showed that for about 5 minutes, then the location scan went away. No matter, if the UPS rep I spoke with can be trusted, they've left Louisville and are on their way to their final destinations.
Those poor, poor UPS CS people. Stop bothering them. We'll all have our phones tomorrow!

My package displays the same status! I think there's just a delay in processing the scans.
My best guess is that the phones are in Louisville now. My status shows its still on time for a 10:30 delivery, so I won't be surprised if it suddenly changes to out for shipping early tomorrow morning. LOL!
Production is continuous, but i'm sure the factory ships out in bulk, so that may be why theres a 2 week gap. Just guessing.

So here's a scary senario... You wait patiently for your 10:30 delivery, 11 AM rolls around nothing. You check the front door and see a tag timed 5AM saying sorry we missed you, see you Monday... if I had a 10:30AM delivery.. I would be up all night just in case
