Hi my order went through right at 12:00am (through ipad apple app) got the conf. email right after...and then this morning the applecare+ email. Mine still says processing and delivered on 9/21. Called at&t to see if everything went through correctly on their side. She said my order may be cancelled because I used my debit card(which can be used as credit) instead of an actual credit card!! Wth? Has anyone heard this? She said her supervisor said they were NOT ALLOWED to sell a pre-order to anyone trying to purchase with a debit card. She said that was the rule across the board when pre-ordering the new iphone. I did not know about this...hopefully my order still goes through!

Every preorder cycle, someone gets told this, and it enevitably causes a panic. Don't worry, debit cards can certainly be used. I've used the same card, through the same bank every time.....no issues.

That's not to say that some odd billing issue may come due to some odd debit/bank issue.....but to say that they are not allowed, is just BS.

Just got off the phone with AT&T. Placed my order for a white one. They allowed me to upgrade early with no fee. :D. Asked the rep if they were getting a lot of orders and she said they were. Sounded a bit frazzled to me. :p

My Discover card account shows the payment as processing. I know that's because they don't actually bill you until they ship. Some people become confused when they see a charge on their card that later disappears. I think that happens because when you first place the order they verify that you have the funds on the card you used.

I have been wondering about this. What if you have the funds when they check but you don't a week later or so when it ships? I only ask because I use my Paypal debit card for everything. I get cash back every month for purchases and it comes out of my bank account just like using my bank card does. Only problem (which has never been a problem until now) is that the Paypal card has a limit of $1000 worth of outstanding charges at any one given time. My order ate up half of that. It is showing as pending with Paypal, if it falls out and then some bills auto debit and they charge it again, do I get screwed if it doesn't go through? I timed this so this wouldn't be a problem, but if Apple checks and then randomly pulls the money at a later date, it could cause a problem. At no time do I not have the money but it may appear that way to Apple due to the $1000 limit with the card.

Available to ship: 2 weeks

Am I the only one in this forum who lives in the US who got this on their order status?

Available to ship: 2 weeks
Delivers Oct 5 via Standard Shipping

I've been reading through the posts and I only see people talking about 9/21 deliveries. Not only that, but Oct 5 is more than 2 weeks from now, which means they're not even expediting the shipping in any way once it goes out. What's the point of preorder if the product is going to arrive 2 weeks after it's in the stores? Should I cancel the order or might the date I was given be a mistake resulting from overloaded ordering systems?

You didn't order early enough :D

You're not the only one. It should depend on the time you got your order through. This year's window for first day deliveries was super short. Meaning either lower supply, or bigger demand.

This year definitely needed a quick trigger finger to get in the first wave.

WOW.

Placed my order on Friday at 12:11am. My order was at "processing order" until I got an email 30 minutes ago saying my order was cancelled because according to AT&T's records I was ineligible for an upgrade. Called AT&T and they said I am indeed eligible for an upgrade. Had to place a new order and now I'm in the October order range. BS!!!

Follow-up to my order. After being transferred around to numerous departments through the phone with Apple, being disconnected a couple times because of AT&T's network, and being unable to speak with a customer service rep once I finally got back through to Apple because they were "extremely busy", I just went ahead and cancelled my follow-up order on the Apple website.

Drove a couple minutes to the Radio Shack by me and was able to place a guaranteed launch day pre-order for a black 32gb iPhone 5. I also made the decision to switch from AT&T to Verizon as well. What a headache!

does anyone have "preparing for shipping" when they had a partial upgrade with at&t? the +250 price

I do, yes. Ordered 3:14 am EDT, 64GB Black AT&T with early upgrade pricing. Currently preparing for shipment. Status changed at some point Friday night.

So should I cancel? The order system should never have taken the order for something they were already out of. I take it then that everyone in this forum ordered within that 1 hour or less window?

An hour after it started was reasonably early in my book. If they were out of stock why wasn't the order simply refused as 'out of stock'?

I know you're frustrated, but that would be a bit silly. Almost no one would rather not be allowed to order at all, over getting a later delivery date. Besides, you can certainly cancel your order if the extended date is unacceptable. You still stand a chance in the store on launch day.

That's what I thought! But she swore up and down and then got her sup who said the same thing!? Weird! Anyway I spoke to apple about it and they said the billing thing didn't sound correct, but ultimately it is up to at&t. I'll just have to wait and see!:)

Certainly not everyone. There are quite a few on here with Oct 5th dates.

Did you order a cable? Mine reduced to 9/21 after I cancelled the cable from my order.

Because they never consider the item "out of stock" they simply delay the shipping. Didn't it say ships in 2 weeks when you ordered?

Are other people also still processing? I was able to purchase within the first 15 mins. Black 16 gb, att, and have yet to move past the processing stage.

Well I would actually have preferred a simple "sorry out of stock" instead of having to go back and cancel the order, and then wonder if the cancellation actually went through or not. Evidently they really had very little stock if they were able to sell out in one hour when it was bedtime for most of America.

I preordered my Iphone 5 on the apple store app through my Iphone at 3:00am EST and received my confirmation email that my order was processing at 3:01am. I am still under "processing items" on my order status and my shipping says holiday shipping. Whats odd is that I then ordered my sister and mom's Iphone from the apple store online around 3:15am and my sisters phone has now gone to "preparing for shipment"

Has anyone that ordered their phone through the apple store app had their orders go to preparing for shipment?

I guess they got disgusted and aren't posting. I should probably join them and not even look at these forums or anything else to do with the iPhone5 anymore. I just gotta say Apple handled this one very poorly since in previous years I never had a problem with ordering or pre-ordering and getting the product on launch day. They must really have had only a small amount of inventory compared to previous years since they ran out so fast when the ordering was taking place at the most disadvantageous hour. Had it been noon PDT they probably would have been out in 5 minutes.

Yep, 16GB Black ordered 2 minutes after the Apple Store came up and I'm still at "Processing". I am sure they'll all change come Sunday.
