Placed my order for the 32GB AT&T at 12:50AM thru Apple.com (would of been earlier, long story). My status is "preparing for shipment" already.
 
Pre-ordered my white 32gb at 3:25am ET day of launch, and everything went fine. Got an email an hour ago saying my order was canceled because of a problem on AT&Ts side. After getting transferred back and forth from both Apple and AT&T, I was told that Apple's website enabling customers to select "invalid" data plans, and when AT&T goes it process it, it gets rejected. Not sure what they're talking about. I just selected my same phone plan and grandfathered Unlimitied Data. The email from Apple said to reorder it and they would "process it as quickly as possibly." I highly doubt I'll still get a phone on launch day now. Though I'll probably just try and pick one up from the store. So annoying!

Happened to me too. I ordered at 12:01am on launch day. Everything went through fine. Then I got the dreaded cancellation e-mail from Apple an hour ago which stated "While processing your iPhone order, we encountered an issue with your AT&T account. According to their records, the phone number associated with this order has been recently upgraded. As a result, your iPhone order has been canceled [sic] and you have not been charged."

DAMMIT!! I resoundingly qualified for an upgrade. I called AT&T and they confirmed as much.

Now no phone until October :(
 
I guess they got disgusted and aren't posting. I should probably join them and not even look at these forums or anything else to do with the iPhone5 anymore. I just gotta say Apple handled this one very poorly since in previous years I never had a problem with ordering or pre-ordering and getting the product on launch day. They must really have had only a small amount of inventory compared to previous years since they ran out so fast when the ordering was taking place at the most disadvantageous hour. Had it been noon PDT they probably would have been out in 5 minutes.

Or they were hit with epic demand...

Mine also says still processing on AT&T. I called, and the first lady I talked to was obviously not up to the challenge of finding out.

The second lady I talked to, in the E-Com department said that AT&T receives them from Apple on Launch Day, and then mails them out separately but assured me it would be here on the 21st or 22nd.

I ordered Friday morning at 9:14 a.m. and my first email I got from AT&T said I will receive it on 9.21.12

I find that hard to believe since the ordering started at a time which was maximally inconvenient. I just think there were never many phones on hand for them to sell. I'm outta here see y'all maybe in a few weeks.

Myself as well. Ordered from the App - 16GB, black, AT&T 5. I ordered within the first ten minutes. I went to processing yesterday, and I'm still there.

Since there's so many of us in this situation, I imagine we're fine ;)

Depends on the Apple rep. When I preordered my iPad 2 the order was canceled by mistake and they placed a new order for me with my original delivery date. Everything depends on the rep you get.

Thanks for the tip; I guess I'll try again. I'd really rather get it in the mail than deal with the ridiculously long lines here in Manhattan.

Sorry to hear that! I purposefully pre-ordered from Apple because I figured it'd be less of a hassle than ordering from AT&T. :(

Can't say I did. Just got the "congrats" screen on the app and an email at the same time saying my order was processing.

The order confirmation first took me to a page saying they had "received my order" and then it switched to "processing" yesterday.

No processing fee on my US Bank card; but I'm chalking that one up to US Bank - as they have the ********* online statement interface I've ever seen in my life ;p
 
I'm in the stupid Oct. 5th camp since I was too sleepy to remember I could use the app and ordered at 4am when apple.com came back. So I'm stalking this thread hoping against hope I still have a chance to get my phone next week...

But for what it's worth, I have a feeling that a bunch of people whose order is still processing will move to preparing for shipment on Mon. This is what happened with my retina macbook pro when I ordered it on a Friday. It processed all weekend and then Monday morning things began to move along very quickly.
 
Kudos to Discover-I didn't know about ShopDiscover until I read a post after I placed my order, even though I talked to a Discover rep just a few hours before ordering my iPhone 5. I called Discover and although they said the 5% cash back really comes from the vendor, so in this case Apple, Discover credited it back to my account. That's great customer service.
I pretty much only use Discover for the ShopDiscover cash back and the quarterly 5% cash back program.

I've gotten hundreds back with Applestore.com being one of the 5% cash back vendors. For my MacBooks and iMac I even got the 5% after using the education store discount as well.

Very cool that they gave you the credit even though you didn't use the link. That is great Customer Service.

Oh, I see, I thought you ordered it from the At&T Website.

I placed my order at 2:45am central time. I initially received a email stating my order was being processed and "Available to ship: Delivers 9/21".
Just now when I went to check my order status it says "Available to ship: 2 weeks Delivers Oct 5 via Standard Shipping"

Has this happened to anyone else or should I call customer service to see what's up?

one other person said they had the same thing happen. Did you ever check your order status before now? I'm wondering if you got the confirmation email, but the actual oct.5 has been on the website the whole time
 
I ordered two 64gb full price phones for Verizon from Apple at 12:40PST, it still shows processing but has changed to holiday shipping.

Yeah, I checked later that same day and it had the 9/21 delivery. I only checked today to see if it was preparing to ship and now I'm having a "WTF Apple" moment
 
I honestly think that is a good thing if everyone is seeing holiday shipping added, but is still in the processing stage. I would almost guarantee you will get it on the 21st...it just will not ship probably until monday, whereas some still with started shipping, but have the message "preparing to ship" will ship today.

did you get an email about your card or anything? I know a few people entered wrong credit card details, which may end up screwing them.
 
After an hour on the phone with Apple, a support rep contacted his supervisor and was able to get my new order to ship tomorrow, for delivery on the 21st. So if anyone else gets an email about an AT&T cancellation, call Apple and explain the situation ASAP.
