What specifically did you say? I too am currently waiting for my 3rd representative. Are we referring to the $36 fee?

I ordered 32 GB Black Verizon at 12:48 PST, and I got an email that says delivers 9/21. My current order status is still processing items with a 9/21 delivery date. I am a bit worried they might flip flop my shipping date to later since my order got in so late. Really hoping this doesn't happen since I have to send my 4S to Amazon on Wednesday. I traded it in before the announcement to get a nice trade-in value. I can handle going without a phone for 48 hours but not 2 weeks.

They undoubtedly already shipped a lot of phones to the USA already. Yours may be in that bunch. Mine didn't leave processing until Thursday last year. And it arrived on Friday, just like they said.
No the bulk of the Apple pre-orders have not shipped. Expect them to start rolling on Monday with Shipment Notification emails arriving Monday evening for US orders with tracking numbers.
Note: It will already be Tuesday in China and still lots of time to get millions of units to your door by 9/21.

I was one of the lucky ones who preordered the 4 and received it a day before launch. Like many of you I skipped the 4S. No question about it, the iPhone 5 is what I was waiting for. I ordered mine via the iPhone app between 12:00-12:01 am PST and my order is now showing "preparing for shipment".
For those of you that are still waiting for "preparing for shipment", I say take heart, your status will change and your new phone will come. For me, I am trying to enjoy these days prior to holding my new technological marvel in my hand. IMO we are in for a real treat with this model.

Sorry if I was unclear. I didn't mean that they shipped to customers in the USA. I meant that all orders don't ship from China during launch week. They definitely have been manufacturing iPhones for at least a month, and already imported them into the USA.
I was one of the "2 weeks" people - ordered 7:30 EST
2 weeks doesn't mean you get it 9/28, apparently - 2 weeks means 10/5, according to the website.
Not enough to make me camp out at the store, but enough to make me wish I had set an alarm for 3. Bah.

I tried two agents. the second one said she could do it and credited my account $48!! sneaky bonus $12
I finally got them to credit $36 to my account. Ha, nice job on the $12.
I also read here that someone got ATT to credit their account $250 for an early upgrade fee, which I cannot seem to find anymore. Does anyone know if this is true?

Really? Some people have nothing better to do, I guess.
I'm assuming you mean 5th Avenue as there are several in Manhattan. I tend to go to the Upper West Side or Grand Central stores. 5th Avenue is almost always a zoo, even when there isn't a new product for sale. Its main advantage is that it is open 24 hours. The UWS has far fewer tourists, even though it is still pretty close to touristy areas. Grand Central is right inside the station so has a higher percentage of commuters and locals. It will be interesting to see how they handle crowd control there. They just can't handle a big line the way 5th Avenue can since it would hinder access to the ticket booths.
Just as an FYI, TRACK BY REFERENCE NUMBER WORKS NOW. Go to UPS and search by either your phone number or order number.
