I ordered via Apple's mobile store and I received my AppleCare+ email request today...

"We noticed you weren't given the opportunity to add AppleCare+ to your iPhone. If you would like to extend your coverage for only $99, please reply to this email by September 21st."

weird. I am in "preparing to ship", but have not gotten that email. Was it after that when you got your email?
 
I've tried both my phone number from my billing info, and the order reference number. I put them both in the "Shipment Reference" box, didn't fill anything else in, clicked Track but it just errors.

Like I said, mine looked just like yours 5 minutes earlier. Last year I never got ANY tracking information right up until delivery. That was due to AT&T though.

It makes no sense, mine was one of the very first to go to prepared for shipment on friday. :(

I get panicky when others are having status updates and mine isnt :p

Don't get panicky, it's not like they're all entered in at once. They're probably being scanned in on some production line.

exactly. Tracking numbers can take a day or even two after they ship to show up online.
 
Why is the processing taking FOREVER?

After some heavy convincing on my part, I finally convinced my parents to let me use our final upgrade on the iPhone 5, and my Father will take my iPhone 4 that we bought solely because of the $99 value.

Anywho, last night a little after 11pm Eastern US Time, I, after having to reset our billing password, I finally got it to do the order. I had set it to send the confirmation email to my iPad, and have not received it. It has been 8 freaking hours.

What's taking so long? Is it because nobody would have been at Apple for the last 8 hours? Is it because they don't have enough to tell me our info is good? What should I do? Our card is valid, and doesn't expire for 2 years and it has more than the $212.93 for the phone, so it's not qthat.

This is my first iPhone pre-order and it went very smooth for me. To all the other customers who have October delivery dates, I wish you the best of luck and hopefully it will arrive sooner than anticipated.

WAIVED UPGRADE FEE: To get the upgrade fee waived just explain to the CSR, politely of course, that you could have taken your business elsewhere but chose to stay with (Insert Provider Here). If they are being stingy just ask for a manager.
 
I'm getting upset. I ordered at 12:30 AM, got a 9/21 delivery date and everything went fine. My order status still says processing, my bank has been charged, and now I checked and my shipping went to "Holiday". I might be canceling and picking up a pre-order from Walmart instead.
 
I ordered Friday morning at 9:14 a.m. and my first email I got from AT&T said I will receive it on 9.21.12

I'm confused with this. (and believe me, I really hope u get it on launch). But weren't they long sold out by 9am? In hearing they sold out in an hour or 2. So how would anyone get on launch if they ordered after they were sol out?

Woohoo, order still says preparing for shipment but UPS just returned this!

I entered the primary phone number on the account as the phone number being upgraded returned no results. The order number also returned not results.

So glad I'm not relying on ATT, Verizon, or Sprint to get it to me on time. I'd be terrified using best buy, Walmart or Radio Shack.

When are people going to learn that when the phones are selling for 4x on the secondary market that the associates at retail stores have the ability to "not get the shipment they were expecting" and keep them for themselves?

Not saying it happens everywhere, but it happened to 2 people I know who were first to preorder the 4 (at bb and the shack).

Hopefully no one that ordered that way reads this thread, don't want to cause undue concern, but I really think this is the only way I'll ever preorder.

In fairness AT&T has been great to me, but I'd never trust their dates. They have too many shenanigans in the past with "having" and then "not having" enough.

Too bad UPS is unlikely to deliver early.

Still glad I can track it though :)
