Important Note When Looking up Tracking info on UPS

I appreciate the user who posted the tip, and after fooling around with UPS I found out a small issue. Like others I ordered phones from a sperate phone number and not my own. For the UPS Track by Reference trick to work you need to put in the phone number UNDER BILLING INFORMATION .

After trying numerous times to lookup the two iPhone 5s I ordered, I finally put in my own phone number (same # in billing info) and that worked like a charm!

Hope this helps anybody having an issue looking up their phone.

P.S. My phone has been Prepared for Shipment since early this morning, so if you just got your status upgraded, don't freak out if it's not coming up.

Well I'll be....... Yup. Not my cell number. My actual landline I use for.my billing number worked like a charm with UPS.

Shipped! Tracking via UPS origined in China.

So glad I'm not relying on ATT, Verizon, or Sprint to get it to me on time. I'd be terrified using best buy, Walmart or Radio Shack.

When are people going to learn that when the phones are selling for 4x on the secondary market that the associates at retail stores have the ability to "not get the shipment they were expecting" and keep them for themselves?

Not saying it happens everywhere, but it happened to 2 people I know who were first to preorder the 4 (at bb and the shack).

Hopefully no one that ordered that way reads this thread, don't want to cause undue concern, but I really think this is the only way I'll ever preorder.

In fairness AT&T has been great to me, but I'd never trust their dates. They have too many shenanigans in the past with "having" and then "not having" enough.

Too bad UPS is unlikely to deliver early.

Still glad I can track it though :)

Ditto to all of this. Plus, I've never been able to get through on AT&T's site on the first preorder day. I upgraded the other phone on my family plan as mine is not eligible, and that person is flying out of town for 10 days at 7am on Sept 22, very tight window to do the swap. Hope AT&T gets it done for me on Sept 21!
 
I think "Ready for UPS" means just that. Not shipped yet. Calm down folks.

I am in the exact same situation! I ordered the black 16GB iPhone 5 (AT&T) and my card has the pending charge on it. I am just hanging out in "Processing" stage, holiday shipping, and delivers 9/21. :eek:
 
Now I am a little worried. I ordered at 3:15am EST from the apple website. My order says preparing for shipment with a delivery date of the 21st. My credit card shows a pending transaction. However, there is no serial number on the support page and I have tried both ups and FedEx and nobody has tracking info. I have tried the order number, my phone number, the primary account holders phone number, my home phone, and anything else that I could think of and so far nothing. Hope something pops up soon, just to ease my mind a little. :(

"Ready for UPS" means exactly that, but "Origin Scan" means the tracking barcode has been scanned by UPS.
 
Woohoo, order still says preparing for shipment but UPS just returned this!

I entered the primary phone number on the account as the phone number being upgraded returned no results. The order number also returned not results.

I had to do the same, but now see the same thing on UPS.

My wife's phone, ordered 4 minutes later, still says processing... Mine is a 64 gig black, hers is a 32 gig black.
 
After constantly trying to track by reference, my package shows as well! Doesn't seem like anyone has FedEx yet.

EDIT: Interesting, upon logging-in to UPS MyChoice, I see it is going to be delivered by 10:30 AM.

when did your order changed to preparing to ship? what model of iphone?
and did you put your billing number or cellphone number to track??
 
Both my iphone says Preparing for Shipment in apple.com
when i checked in ups.com i see my both phones...

Been about 26 hours ago and it finally worked. I ordered the Black/Slate 64GB on AT&T You have TWO options for a reference. One; Your order number, the "W" followed by 7 numbers. IF your order number has 9 numbers, you need to take out two of them for the reference to work.
Two; The phone number you use for billing information with apple.
This as as detailed as it gets, if those two options don't work you aren't in the system yet. :(

my changed to preparing to ship about 24 hrs ago...and second one about 12 hrs ago.. So i think it should show up in UPS by tonight or tomorrow morning..

Ordered in the first few minutes of preorder sale, black 32gb on Verizon. Still in Processing with 9/21 and Holiday delivery. Credit card was charged in full yesterday.

What specifically did you say? I too am currently waiting for my 3rd representative. Are we referring to the $36 fee?

I used live chat last night and all I said was I ordered two iPhone 5s today on both lines on my account and wanted to inquire about having my upgrade fees credited to my account. He didn't hesitate and told me he put a notation on my account to remove them when they posted and for me to follow up via chat at that time. I also got sent a text confirming they would be removed.

It just seems logical that those first on preparing to ship should be first to be scanned into the UPS system, or whatever courier they use. But apparently not :(
