Shippers can request items be held at sort facilities until a given date. For instances like this, I say earliest you get it is Wednesday, but I feel like you'll get it Friday.

Scheduled Delivery:
Friday, 09/21/2012, by 10:30 AM

Oh man would it be awesome if it came by 10:30AM!

For those of you who have "Still Processing", are you also scheduled to have yours delivered on the 21st?

I don't understand why Apple doesn't just allow them to deliver early if it arrives early. It would space out the number of people trying to activate all in one day, and make some customers very happy.

Seriously, what's the point of forcing UPS to hold them? It seems like a lot of extra work...

I have a friend that works at the sort hub in town.. maybe he will go through the thousands upon thousands of packages, find mine, and give it to me early  lol

Ditto!

People queuing makes product launches interesting and therefore newsworthy. If people could get their gadgets before launch day nobody would queue.

When ordering your phone, there was an area to put in your phone number. You can use your phone number for the reference number on ups.com and it will show all orders connected to your phone number.

Experience has shown that, everything considered, it optimizes customer satisfaction overall. Apple likes customer satisfaction.

I wonder if the Holiday Ship phones are ones that were originally destined for Apple Stores, and Apple is using them to help fulfill the pre-orders. That might explain why the person showing Nashville as his phones location is also a Holiday Ship person. The rest of us with standard shipping appear to have China as ours. The holiday reference might just be their way of saying hold at domestic location until said date.

No the term holiday is simply the term that apple is using for their 3 day ship offer for the holiday. All it means is three day guarantee and they tell the shipper to hold until Friday.

I have two phones on holiday, one is preparing to ship and one is still processing.

Ordered iPhone 5 Black & Slate 16GB AT&T at 12:06AM PST via Apple Store app.

UPS track by reference now shows that the device will be shipping from Nashville, TN via Next Day Air Saver (end of day delivery).

Hmmm...So I suppose this is confirmed through apple that some i5's are already in the states. Interesting. Has anyone called apple to confirm this?

All the people who didn't preorder right away and were facing 2-3 week shipping times would still have an incentive to queue. If Apple didn't hold deliveries I doubt it would have any affect on the launch.

My order can finally be tracked! Apparently it is coming from Tennessee. At most it's only three hours from me, I'm going to hate knowing its sitting there that close to me and I can't have it. Oh well, at least I know it's on it's way.

Oh wow, that's cool folks. My order says still preparing for shipment but when I go to ups and track by ref number on my phone digits, I get my shipment info. You guys are crafty!!! :D

Thanks

One of my iPhones is still stuck at the processing stage, although it shows a 9/21 delivery. I had to reauthorize the billing information the morning after I ordered it.

Should I call Apple about it?

No don't worry, same thing happened to me. Credit card got locked for the third transaction (too much Apple stuff I suppose :p) but now it has been in preparing for shipment for over a day.

You'll be fine!

Hmm I checked that UPS trick thing and it says I have 2 packages coming....that are both in China. I only ordered 1 phone and my CC was charged once. Got my confirmation email at 12:01:45 AM.
