I am an android guy mostly, though, I have owned my fair share of iPhones. Something that android users fail to comprehend is that fact that, android hardware only matters to a certain extent. What do I mean? Simple.

Until Apple does something, you average user couldn't care less. NFC was on android first, but never really took off. Now that Apple is in the game, its going to explode. Apple makes the easiest to use, fastest OS on the market packaged in the most amazingly designed hardware you could possibly expect.

Apple is farther ahead for the average user and I don't see that changing. I ordered the 4.7 iPhone, and can't wait to play with it.

These sales numbers are incredible.

You're still missing the point that 64-bit processors only have a real benefit with devices with at least 4GB ram. Most manufacturers are smart enough to know this, which is why there has never been a real rush toward a 64-bit smartphone environment.

It's well known that Apple simply did this to add a bulletpoint for their devices. Having a 64-bit processor with 1GB of ram is next to useless.

I don't think it was a bulletpoint issue. My better guess is has something to do with trying to build compatibility over time between iOS and OS X.

That is a well-thought out response, and it makes sense. There is definitely a use case for both platforms.

What bothers me is people here who simply ignore the fact that Apple has most definitely borrowed features from Samsung and Android in general, and act like Apple is the only true innovator and that everyone is taking their ideas from them.

Keep in mind the only reason Apple is offering bigger phones like the iPhone 6 Plus is because of the Galaxy Note's success. If Steve Jobs were still alive, he never would have allowed Apple to release a phablet.

Your account/post history reeks of anti-apple. Are you a fanboy or did the competition have to resort to sleazy practices by hiring contractors to post in our forum.

Either way, this is a Apple forum, why are you here? Why are you so worked up over Apple that you have to come here to 'divert' people from Apple products.

It doesn't matter though, I already gave Apple my money and so have many others. We already won.

So what your saying is 4" isn't the perfect size for a phone. About time senses have been come to. Holding out for the 6.5" iphone ++.

Right!!! Steve May have been set in his ways and slow to changing with the times but, he still would not have ignored market demand.

Really? You know him explicitly? Wow awesome. I didn't know Steve Jobs whom had a history of success and foresight would be trumped by your opinion on what he would and would not do.

no wonder corporations treat people like a herd of cows,
We think we are growing up and becoming smarter, but we are the same dumb kids that wanted a toy because others had it.
why else would any one spend 800$ on something they never saw

Or because the company has established sufficient trust that we believe they under promise and over deliver? I've never been disappointed the day my iPhone arrives.

Obviously I'm Mr. Nobody but I think Tim Cook has done an amazing job.

The only thing that sticks out is that he promised brand new products in the pipeline and apart from the Apple Watch he hasn't delivered on that as of yet.

Meh, wasn't the new MP part of that? Besides, there's time for the Apple TV, etc. Maybe beats counts lol.

Apple just got more preorders in 24 hours than the lifetime sales of most other OEM's flagship devices. I shutter to see the first weekend sales numbers. They will be massive.

Anyone else ever notice that most manufacturer's never even announce the sales figures for their devices?

There's a lot of crap flinging in here at Samsung and Android.

I must remind these iPhone users of something very important that it seems they're conveniently forgetting. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are catch-up products.

Just about every feature iPhone 6 and iPhone Plus have, Samsung and other Android manufacturers have been producing for many years prior.

It's sad when Samsung has to pay people like this jerk to come here and put up s$#@

But but but....I thought it was just rehashed hardware from 2012!

You know, from the products that were completely overshadowed by the "inferior" iPhone 5 at the time.

There will be a record breaking Shamesung commercials coming out of this.

Would be great commercial if VP of marketing with an iPhone film themselves walking up to Tim Cook's office and telling him the news and Tim Cook replies "that's great thanks for sharing.." Marketing guy replies.. 'Should we make a commercial to one up Samsung?' Tim replies 'Why? We have actual work to do then make silly commercials bashing someone else.' End scene.

Did anyone else pre-order without knowing which size you really want?

It seems like it would be an easy decision, but it wasn't. I went with the 6, not the Plus, because I know it's a size I will like. And if I'm honest, because it ships sooner. Will I like the Plus size better, or is it just too big? I think I'm going to check the Plus out in a store before I open the one I pre-ordered.

With all the bashing of Apple not innovating.. I really would like to see Samsung's next best thing. Will it be bigger screens? Or something really innovating like getting rid of plastics, interchange battery and microsd? Oh wait Samsung Alpha. Seriously what will Samsung do next? Or Wait for iPhone 6S/7 rumors and throw a bunch of stuff on the board and hope it sticks.

Good point. With Apple entering the big screen market, Samsung really has pressure on it to do something to differentiate themselves. Something innovative to make them unique. I don't think they're capable of it though. That's just not the type of company they are.

You get bigger screen, better cpu performance, better cameras, apple pay, compatibility with iWatch if you upgrade from iPhone 5, and even more things if you upgrade from 4S, so big share of these units sold are from these customers. And then you have many Android users who are going to jump to iOS or a coming back because of the increased screen size. Apple will flood the market.

The iPhone may be 30% more expensive than Sony, Nokia and Samsung flagships and 60% more expensive than competitive chinease manufacurers, but without any doubt, it is the best smarthphone you can buy right now. The only "downside" it had until now in comparison with other brands was the screen size, and thats gone now. Overall performance, quality, ecosystem, design and support, the iPhone is the best of the best in all categories.

It's sad when Samsung has to pay people like this jerk to come here and put up s$#@

I can't recall but has it been proven Samsung paid people to bash the competition online? I recall reading about it but not sure if it was true. However with all the bashing, I can't help but think this is true. I also recall incentives given to sales rep to push Samsung over Apple phones. I have seen first hand bashing of iPhone to sell a Samsung instead.

Really? You know him explicitly? Wow awesome. I didn't know Steve Jobs whom had a history of success and foresight would be trumped by your opinion on what he would and would not do.

Market demand moves all or falter..

Look at Netflix-if they didn't change their business model, they would be history

A lot of people are scoffing at this, but it actually does take a ton of bezel to make one iPhone screen. First, the bezel silicate has to be mined, in one of the bezel mining sites in Canada, China or Chile. Then it gets transported to a bezel refining site. Bezel refining is a multi-step process, requiring removal of mineral impurities, followed by separation into the actual bezel and other chemical components. The pure bezel then gets formed into bezel bars for transport, which end up at a manufacturing facility for making the "wafers" from which the actual iPhone screen bezels get cut. The point it, the raw bezel is very impure, and needs to be highly refined to get usable screen material. It actually does take about one ton of raw bezel material to make a single iPhone screen.

I just read this in the narrators voice of "How Do They Do It?" And imagined the process being done.

Imagine how many more Apple would have sold if it were not for that Samsung advert in the post before!

1.2 B smartphones were sold in 2013, so 4 M iPhone 6's in one day represents somewhere around 0.33% of all the smartphones likely to be sold in 2014. If Apple were able to maintain that every day for 301 days, they'd end up selling every phone in the world for that year.
