What is confusing and frustrating for people is that Apple doesn't seem to be fulfilling orders in the order in which the order was ordered.

For example, I placed my order 90 seconds after midnight and I'm still stuck in "Processing". People who ordered the exact same model 5 minutes after me are being "Prepared for Shipment".

Obviously, the supply is constrained which is understandable, but if Apple fulfills these watches out-of-order, people are going to be pissed.

Thank you! I couldn't agree more.

worried

I ordered a 42mm Steel Classic Buckle. I Got my order in super fast and got the 24th delivery date. They have billed my account and I'm stuck in the preparing status with no tracking number. I have not received this wacky email.

I have read tons of forum posts and the only conclusion I have is that most of us who ordered a "42mm Steel Classic Buckle" are in for a much longer than average wait. If only I had know I would have picked a different band!

Just received this email.

Space Grey Sport with Black Band.
24/4 - 8/5 delivery.

Friends who ordered in later delivery windows in U.S. have theirs as status "Preparing To Ship".
Nobody that I know in Australia with "Preparing To Ship" status though...

Anyone on here from Au with theirs Prep to ship?

Btw I did receive the email...so frustrating...but yet people with June estimates are getting shipping notifications. Makes no sense at all. Order was completed at 3:02 am...come on apple.

Yeah, this is exactly my problem. Well worded.

I was on within seconds of it all going live, and never saw a 4/24.
No one I've talked to saw it either.

OK so basically no one was ever promised they'd for sure have the watch on the 24th.

People spent a lot of money on this product.

The fact that Apple is the richest company in the world doesn't help.

It's the frustration that comes from purchasing something from a company that should have their **** together.

Functioning quite normally myself, but I get where you're coming from.

Well if it's Not shipping yet you have not spent any money at all , cancel the order and move on . They never promised a 4/24 date to anyone they gave date ranges .

Now don't take it the wrong way I want my on launch day too but at this point it happens when It happens

When I got the email I didn't take it as a bad sign I took as it we are working on your order to me meaning they are trying trying to get it to me on launch day

Tomorrow is another day and you can still be charged and can still be shipped sign the are using next day shipping . On my iPhone 6 plus I never got any info and i got it launch day . They night before things changed while I'm sleeping

I remember when the Harry Potter books were launching. Amazon would guarantee that all books arrived exactly on launch day. They pulled it off despite shipping a lot more books than Apple is shipping watches. I don't understand why Apple can't do the same thing for those who got a 24th date. If Amazon can do it then what's up with Apple!

Really? This is why Apple can get away with stuff like this because they know people will turn their heads the other way when something like this happens.

I'm a big fan just like you but this whole Apple Watch launch has been a mess. I didn't preorder one or even plan on buying one but some here ordered minutes after preorders opened and received this email. What a joke.

It really is joke, don't get me wrong, but I can't be mad when I don't control the situation. Apple knows what they are doing and I trust them. Like most have already posted, this doesn't change the original window of 4/24-5/8, it just is an assurance that we have to wait.

I know that I was getting frustrated not knowing why my order is not being prepared for shipment when you have all of these planes coming from China full of watches. But, the email showed the Apple is aware of the frustration and is doing what they can to "ease the pain."

Yep, just got it as well. Really disappointing. 42mm stainless steel with black sport band. Ordered right when the store was up. Bummed.

That was me also, same configuration and same time ordered, and got the email of death tonight. Oh well I will have it soon enough

I agree, and this was my first thought as well...it's a childish thought though really...especially once you consider the fact that they have created so many variants. There would inevitably be configurations that would be uber popular, and those not so much, but with all the marketing and forecasting resources that :apple: has it should have figured that out and produced adequate quantities. If they didn't, I imagine there is a team that is at the very least getting a stern talking to.

To anyone trying to call out anyone that's upset they aren't getting their watch on launch day:

1) People paid a lot of money for these devices.

2) There's always been a sense of pride in being an early adopter with Apple. Literally the only way to get (a chance) on launch day was online. Most of us checked out within seconds of the store opening. Part of Apple, whether you admit it or not is the Cool factor. The having it first factor. No one could camp outside of stores for this one.

3) People in later shipping windows, with the same SKUs, that ordered later --- ARE ALREADY GETTING THEIR SHIPPING INFORMATION AHEAD OF EARLIER PURCHASERS. Supply constraints are understandable. But please fulfill orders in the order they were received, not all caddywhompus golden ticket style.

4) Orders were placed 11 days ago. Besides the initial e-mail, and now this one, there has been no communication in regards to any delays. It shouldn't be that hard to get us an actual ship date at this point, unless the launch has been botched so badly, that they have no idea.

5) It's an Apple forum. People are gonna get all pissy about every little thing. Most Apple Fan Boys (myself included) have some sense of elitism, entitlement and can get a bit emotional about physical objects. Cut us some slack. ;)

Well put Jason. Totally agree...

Ordered 2 Watches, 1 minute apart, using 2 different Apple IDs (one watch for me, one for my bride as an anniversary present). Received confirmation email for mine, which I suspected would have higher demand so I ordered first, at 2:03am (Central US Time)--used Apple Pay. Received confirmation for the second watch at 2:06am, paid by manually typing in credit card info. On Monday, the SECOND watch I ordered moved to "Processing for Shipment" while mine is still…"Processing Items."

My watch: 42mm Space Gray Sport w/Black Band.
Bride's watch: 38mm Sport w/White Band.

Clearly a case to be made for shortages of the 42mm Space Gray Sport w/Black Band. Why else would a watch I ordered a few crucial minutes later ship FIRST before the 42mm Space Gray/Black?

What bums me out the most about this is not that there's a delay for my watch; I'm actually pretty juiced to see my wife use hers & see how she likes it; I'm disappointed that I took a day off of work to wait for the delivery. I've done this for iPhones & they always arrive on the day "promised." I don't trust our neighbors, as they're gone all day at work too so I have to take a day off to wait for the delivery (my office closes at 1pm, so not going to risk a delivery to my work place & see the truck pull in/then leave when the door's locked).

So now I'll have to petition for another day off when  gets around to shipping the watch I ordered. I'll live. I'll be fine. Am not angry or rage-y. Just kinda scratching my head here--not sure what happened, other than Apple's supply not meeting demand…I guess.

Apple on Wednesday emailed select customers that pre-ordered the Apple Watch to reassure them that the company is working on their orders and will provide them with specific delivery dates and tracking information when available. Apple appears to have sent the email to customers with Apple Watch pre-orders that have yet to be prepared for shipment ahead of Friday's launch.

Call me crazy, but this email doesn't reassure me at all. I understand the delivery window, but it doesn't mean I'm happy about it, or the way the pre-orders were handled. I've been disappointed in past product launches not to get my pre-order on launch day, but at least I had an expectation of when I would be getting it, not waiting until the last minute wondering if I was quick enough to get mine on launch day. I'm excited about getting my watch, but this whole launch has left me with a sense of disappointment.

I have three holds for AppleCare+ on my credit card that showed up Monday and I only received an email for my Aluminum Black Sport Band order so my eternally springing hope is telling me this might mean my other stainless steel order might actually ship since I didn't get an email for it...but I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Take this with a grain of salt (as most should with Apple support calls currently; But the rep I spoke with momentarily after receiving that email stated that most are being built and shipped on a first come first served basis. Again, I'm not sure whether to take much stock in that. The 42MM Space Gray Sport I ordered at :01 with an :02 email has yet to change status. Naturally, he reiterated the date range, and assured me that no locations are reviving preference over others.

Also ordered a 42MM Stainless Steel with Link, but we all know by now not to worry about that one at the immediate time.

Only time will tell.

Yeah, if we're not going to get it on launch day, just tell us. The e-mail says 4/24-5/8. But do they really mean that? Tell us it's going to be 5/1-5/8. Vague is not reassuring.
