What the heck is Angela doing at Apple?!? This is no way to launch an Apple product. First come first serve please! Not impressed with her retail implementation here.

Removing name tags from the employees was dumb but this decision, if it was hers, was just plain stupid. Agree you 100%.

I think you'll be fine as:

A) you didn't spend a lot of money
B) You're not all about the early adopter action
C) You aren't getting jumped in line
D) You have nothing to be left in the dark about and
E) You seem to have a wonderful sense of humor ;)

It's times like these I'm reminded how glad I am that I'm not an early adopter and don't care if I have my shiny new gadget on launch day. I understand the frustration but at the same time I think people should just relax and focus on something else for a while. Good things come to those who wait. :)

To anyone trying to call out anyone that's upset they aren't getting their watch on launch day:

1) People paid a lot of money for these devices.

2) There's always been a sense of pride in being an early adopter with Apple. Literally the only way to get (a chance) on launch day was online. Most of us checked out within seconds of the store opening. Part of Apple, whether you admit it or not is the Cool factor. The having it first factor. No one could camp outside of stores for this one.

3) People in later shipping windows, with the same SKUs, that ordered later --- ARE ALREADY GETTING THEIR SHIPPING INFORMATION AHEAD OF EARLIER PURCHASERS. Supply constraints are understandable. But please fulfill orders in the order they were received, not all caddywhompus golden ticket style.

4) Orders were placed 11 days ago. Besides the initial e-mail, and now this one, there has been no communication in regards to any delays. It shouldn't be that hard to get us an actual ship date at this point, unless the launch has been botched so badly, that they have no idea.

5) It's an Apple forum. People are gonna get all pissy about every little thing. Most Apple Fan Boys (myself included) have some sense of elitism, entitlement and can get a bit emotional about physical objects. Cut us some slack. ;)

I feel your pain and have listened to exactly the same complaints BUT...

1) The watch AND its plethora of accessories is a completely different animal. In-store sales would have been a physical nightmare - and I'm talking for us line waiters.

2) With different sizes, colors and people preferences then showing people how it works would have created a realitive "in store" fiasco. Think about it.

3) My guess is that the preorder system they chose is more about seeing what versions are most popular - I know sucks for us but as a stockholder - smart of Apple to not create a failed product. My guess is they learned a lot from the 5c launch..

4). Think of the processing, distribution, and finally shipping of so many choices. I'm certain this is a MASSIVE undertaking and of course - of course at first it won't go smoothly. Duh. C'mon.

5) They are NOT launching ONE product - technically speaking so some perspective is needed. This is by far the most complicated product launch in Apple history - because of so many variants coupled with the different sizes of the watch AND bands..

Relax and breath. We will all survive

Anyone notice how ironic it is that the working Apple Store display units are SS with Black Sport Band?? Thought that should be pointed out. Also, with the Space Gray Sport, I'm sure it possibly has to do with the anodizing process.

Or those who get selected in a random Apple Golden Ticket Lottery™

I'm envious of your ability to "turn it off".
Not a gift I've been given, unfortunately

Thank you. All my friends, family, and co-workers know me as having the latest Apple product at launch and come to me for demos, recommendations, etc. To know that I got up 2:58am to order and get confirmation at 3:04am and now this oddly worded email that screams internal disorganization doesn't seem very Apple is the icing on the bitter cake. I'm having to pre-plan my response when everyone rushes over to me to see the latest apple watch that I won't have.

Oh, but by the way, while you're still waiting for your watch you are free to view all the celebrities who received theirs well ahead of you. Enjoy!

I got this email as well. I ordered 42mm SG. Ordered as soon as Apple store went live and have confirmation email at 12:03. I would love to get my watch on friday, but at this point it seems somewhat hopeless. I have stood in line or preordered every Iphone model that has come out. This apple watch launch seems somewhat botched compared to every other product launch.

All the people posting here practically freaking out over this...

1st world problems... SMH

I haven't been on the forums in a long time and I'm seriously shocked by how crazy people are getting about this. Yes, I want mine really bad too. Like, REALLY bad. Especially after trying one out at the store. But some people seriously need to get a grip.

Chill out people, I've never seen so many drama queens. We'll see tomorrow what the deal is, but I bet we'll get our watches the 24th. And if we don't? Boohoo, we'll probably have to wait until Monday. It's a release of a new product of course there will be some bumps int he road.

Sheesh, I'm usually one to criticize Apple, but honestly this happens every single release. People freak the **** out about their delivery, and then most get it the original day Apple said they would. Step away from the computer and get some fresh air. You're not entitled to anything.

It's not the delivery times, it's that fact that people ordered their Watches within 2-3 minutes of the store opening and then their shipping times showed 4-6 weeks. That's pretty dumb on Apple's part and will just lead to more confusion and discord with future launches. If people ordered a week after the launch and were told it would be several weeks or months, they would accept it but it's just crazy to say that you have to order something within 20 seconds or you lose out...

Still working on my order, WTF does that mean? Just get me my order by 4/24 and no one gets hurt!

I think you maybe didn't read my whole comment? Haha.
I don't disagree on you with most of those.

My point was "since there wasn't the ability to camp out..." Not fulfilling orders in the order they were received is killing the early adopters.

Same Email Received Here...

Ordred 42 SS BSB and confirmed at x:03 email...

Why was this sent at all... Didn't tell me anything new about the delivery window. All it did was tick me off since they can't give anything more specific than what I already know. Don't insult me by telling me look at the videos or make sure I have the right phone and version of iOS... Also don't dangle the 24th date as part of the window if you really know it's not going to happen.

I ordered some extra bands and those windows for delivery are shorter than for my watch... some were set before delivery of the actual watch... I do not have a problem waiting but when I see people receiving notices that the same watch I've ordered and they ordered later than me getting Preparing for Shipment... then I find that more than wrong.

So I just voiced my opinion with my wallet and canceled some extra bands that I liked and ordered separate.

Ordered black 42mm alum waiting just ordered 38mm

Just order 38mm with green band for daughter yesterday. Its already in shipping status. I was charged. My black 42mm, still says June

Hey, don't forget the devs who had one expedited to them by 4/24. :D

Yep, just got it as well. Really disappointing. 42mm stainless steel with black sport band. Ordered right when the store was up. Bummed.

Same here. In fact, I haven't seen a single confirmation on these forums that a 42 SS w/ BSB order is being prepared for shipment. I hope getting this email doesn't mean I have to wait another 2 weeks.

She is not in charge of the supply chain.

She isn't that's for sure, but as head of Retail (which is where the products are sold) someone has to take the blame, and it's easy to pin it on the new person.

A botched Watch launch it appears and 4-6 week shipping window on the MacBook .... Someone isn't doing their job with these last two launches.

Nothing like having two new products that people can't get their hands on. My :apple: stock should be soaring.

Confused

Yes, I received this email about 8:07 PST -- A brand new step -- Not in the list of Apple actions on the orders page -- Very confusing. It's like Apple is the NCAA selection committee...an Apple group's in an upstairs conference room, making new decisions every few minutes regarding how to manage this launch because they've never done a launch before. Who's in - who's not in? Got no idea! (confirmed early order of SS with black sports band - 12:03 AM)

I remember when the Harry Potter books were launching. Amazon would guarantee that all books arrived exactly on launch day. They pulled it off despite shipping a lot more books than Apple is shipping watches. I don't understand why Apple can't do the same thing for those who got a 24th date. If Amazon can do it then what's up with Apple!

The watch is a lot more complex than books. If there is a problem with any component the entire production system is jeopardized. Apple Watch has several new parts--force touch, taptic engine, s1, heart rate sensor, oled.

It doesn't seem like Apple was quite ready for this release. They released about as late as they could and still be plausibly "early 2015", but they probably needed until summer to really be ready to release at Apple scale.

I did read it. :). I really wrote it for the rest on here that are losing their heads over the vagueness and the lack of in store purchases.

I will say that the mistake I really feel they did make is that the PREVIEW on the 10th in store should have been followed by the PREORDER a week later.

One point I failed to mention is...

Think of how many RETURNS there will be after the 24th... As people complain they want something else.

I feel for all Apple Store employees after the 24th...

Lastly - Apple entering the "accessory" market will be a blockbuster... Accessories are a HUGE HUGE business all in itself.

ATTENTION: So I just checked all of the Apple Watches and all 42MM watches are delayed more than other so please take that into account before talking about bands!

Seriously. A couple months ago this was a product no one wanted or needed and now people are popping blood vessels because they might not have it on the 24th. Perhaps people need to focus on something else for a while. There's nothing people can do this point so why obsess over it. The watch will come when it comes.

3:03 order on a 42" SS w sport band and I got one so I hope that means I get it on Friday but I didn't get the email till 11:00 P.M
