Hey guys this is my first post to the forums, I ordered a 42mm White sport and a 42mm Space Gray sport, my order went through at 2:15am (central time). I got the May 13th-27th, but just this afternoon I was charged for the white sport band and am now in "preparing to ship" and I have not received this email. I cant believe some people with the 4/24-5/8 are still in processing?? Thoughts?

Everyone bought the black band so there is a huge shortage for it vs the others.

It is unclear if this email is intended to reassure customers that their Apple Watch pre-orders may still be delivered on April 24, or to acknowledge that the shipments will not be finalized in time for Friday but will still be delivered within the original April 24-May 8 estimated window.

I dunno. It seems pretty clear to me that they're saying your watch may likely arrive after the 24th. If they were trying to reassure, it seems likely they would have just said "by the 24th." ...that said, who ever knows what Apple really intends. Lots of misinformation this time around.

Not exactly thrilled about this. Waited up EST until 3:00 a.m. Had my order placed by 3:04 a.m., and it's still processing. Great.

This email is probably a cry for help from the store team, and was only sent to people who have loaded the order status page more than 360 times in the last hour.

So no one will have a gadget that they've never had before and don't actually need... for a few more months. BFD

It's like children whining that they can't have cotton candy at the carnival till after lunch..................

It sucks that I woke up at 3am est to order this watch...getting an order confirmation email at 3:04 and now seeing tons of people who ordered way after me get their watch shipped out first. It sucks that apple is seemingly punishing me for spending more money with them (went with SS with BSB as well as a separate Milanese over Sport)

They aren't punishing you in any manner.. You're buying a product along with something like 1 million others. They're working their hardest to meet this higher than expected demand and people are giving them way more grief than they deserve.

Maybe Apple should release a PR statement about how sorry they are for making such a popular item.

Hey they bragged about the new customer experience. They knew ther would be a Hugh demand. I ordered within 3 minutes of the launch ( and that a t midnight) and it's sold out for launch day?
No one expected huge initial demand. The iPad and iPhones sold like a measy 300k in the first week. Now a device thats more expensive and more unnecessary is somehow to be expected to sell 10 times that amount during the pre order phase. No one couldve predicted that. Hell most were saying the watch would do modest sales if lucky....but no one was considering it would blow the iPhone and iPad launches away 10 times over. The iPhone 6 only sold 2 - 4 million in its first weekend.

Most people didnt even know they wanted a watch. Maybe Apple shouldve been more tight lipped and not sent out any emails at all until preparing for shipment phase. They are being bombarded with customers who keep asking over and over again about their order status that didnt change from 5 minutes ago.

Not everyone has received one or the other.
Others haven't been updated at all.

Apple confirmed earlier today, that some would arrive sooner than expected,
but then some might come later now? Seems very un-Apple.

Apple gave delivery windows when orders were placed. Some may get them earlier. Apple never said people will get them later than the delivery window shown when placing the order. Not confusing.

I don't know, I think it is unclear. The date range they always gave was 24th-8th, so I don't think they could have suddenly promised everyone the 24th. I called apple earlier this evening, and they told me it was meant as a "product intro" to give the customers about to receive the new product links to their guided tours and such. That smells a bit like B.S. to me, but still, the email is definitely not decisive... it could have been meant either way

I don't think apple expected the black to be as popular as it has been. Californians like weird bright and shiny things while a lot of the rest of the country prefers more muted colors it appears.

good points

This is by far the most misleading email of the 21st century.

There I was sitting with my iPhone next to me (since I don't have an Apple Watch yet) when the screen suddenly flashes on. I look down at the beautiful retina display, to see an envelope soaring through the sky. The mail icon. It's an email. From Apple!

Oh how long I have been waiting for an update about my pre-order. It must finally be shipping!!! I swipe to open the email, and am asked for my fingerprint. After a few failed attempts, I'm finally in. The mail app loads in the email and I excitedly start to read.

Slowly I realize that not only has my Watch not shipped, they decided to remind me (even though I just checked 5 minutes ago) that it has in fact not shipped yet.

Thanks Apple

Anybody that's done that seriously needs to get a life.

These are all excellent points and I completely agree. That said, the email was definitely a miss. I guess it's point was to just say, "Relax, we promised by the 8th, you'll get it by the 8th," but something with more clarity and more personal sounding could have gone a long way. Felt a little tone deaf to me.

My guess - and it's a guess - is that most of you lucky peeps will get a shipping notice tomorrow for delivery Friday or Saturday.

I think yet another obstacle we should consider is the sheer volume of deliveries this creates - and if it's FedEx etc I'm pretty sure that creates a strain on their operations.

Basically the success of the Apple Watch has wide ranging implications that go beyond Apples control - like it or not.

And all of this in context that the watches themselves function properly right out of the box #!!! Meaning no serious synching or operating issues. ugh.

UPS shipping

I initially got a UPS shipping email stating that I had a delivery from Apple for Tuesday, April 21. However, today this is what I got.

A Void shipping label.

38 SS w/black sport band, confirmation email received at 12:03am. Just got the UPS notification, it's being delivered on the 24th. San Francisco Bay Area, coming from UPS' Rialto location.

Just received this email.

Space Grey Sport with Black Band.
24/4 - 8/5 delivery.

Friends who ordered in later delivery windows in U.S. have theirs as status "Preparing To Ship".
Nobody that I know in Australia with "Preparing To Ship" status though...

Anyone on here from Au with theirs Prep to ship?

Im an aussie too and still no update from a zero hour order.

Wait hold up! I'm a "Californian" and I ordered the SS with a black band...

Clearly you shouldn't speak about what Californians like or don't like since you aren't from here lol!

Btw -- just a note to let you know that some of recent histories biggest trends started in California #!

Just look at those OP shorts you've got on. We were wearing those 30 years ago bahahahahaha!!!

Hey all just so everyone knows...

I bought two SS BSB, one 42mm and one 38mm within the first 5 minutes of it going on sale.

My 38mm one has moved to "preparing to ship" just a few hours ago.

My 42mm one is "Still processing"

I received the dreaded "we are working on your order" email for my 42mm order.

Not good.

I think this really has to do with a delay with steel black sport band batch specifically. Seems like everyone is in the same boat for this model, size and band selection.

Yep, agreed. Totally a pattern emerging.

Not to add to the flurry of wild accusations and blind guesses that is basically 95% of these forums (not to mention selfish indignation), but, if I were to assume anything, I'd assume that the BSB was a much more popular option for the 42mmSS than expected, and supply chain is adjusting to compensate.

If I were to assume.

Just got my UPS shipping notification live in California ordered the 42mm Classic Black ordered two only got one :( but coming from the Apple warehouse in Mount Juliet, TN. Friday 4/24 delivery date.

Strange I usually get my stuff from the Rialto location. :/

While the black sport band model seems to be the culprit here, I got the 42 SS w/ Classic Buckle on the first wave order and my status is still processing but have yet to receive this email (knock on wood).

I ordered the stainless steel 42mm with black sports band (about 3 minutes after preorders began) and got the email as well. The only reason I care about getting it on Friday is because I do YouTube and want to make an unboxing video. Hope this isn't ruined...

So what you're saying is that Apple is now promising to deliver my watch in the exact same time frame that they have been promising all along?

Man am I angry about this.

that's beside the point. those with late shipment dates (ie may and june) are getting theirs prepared for shipment when some of us in this scenario are getting the shove around.

plus, it wouldnt hurt for apple to stop playing the "el mysterio" card and just give people factual expectations. everything at present appears to be some form of lucky draw system.

Also just received email from UPS My Choice indicating a delivery scheduled for Friday 04/24. No detail on "standard TRACKING lookup" using the number...just shows a shipping label was created but...when logging into MYCHOICE.. I can see that its from "APPLE LO15 NPI RIALTO, CA, US" at 3.10lbs.
