Tried to login (from www.icloud.com or the Windows control board) - tells me to use my MobileMe-account (unused for years) - doesn't work - and blocks me from creating an iCloud account.
Waited for a chat (took hours) - and the chat tells me that iCloud doesn't work with Windows.. i.e it doesent work with iTunes for Windows (10.5.2)!!
Just tried to login again - same (negative result) - seems to be a good moment to leave the Apple "stuff" behind

You might want to wait until later on. I managed to complete all of the functions to move my accounts to iCloud by 9AM Eastern Time. The problems seem to have started about 10AM...

everything worked just fine for me yesterday to transition from mobile me to iCloud but email has been not working all day today?

I am been receiving on MAC OS X a repeated prompt for password. It has been going on now for about 3 hours.

The good part is that iPhone (iOS 5) is still working...

http://www.icloud.com mail is also failing to connect...

These all appear to be capacity issues... this only started happening once the West Coast woke up... OK - maybe not woke up, but at least got to their MAC.

I'm having the same experience.

Repeated downloads make no sense

Apple brought this upon themselves by making the upgrade process so onerous. I had two MacBooks to upgrade and two iPads to upgrade. The software make no provisions for me to use the same download file for multiple systems. I had to download almost an entire GB for the Lion and iTunes upgrades. It took forever while I was sweating that my home internet account was going to get throttled for overuse. After I downloaded that GB I had to do again for the other MacBook. Then I had to download another 700 MB for each of the iPads. The worse part is that I had two copies of the .ipsw file on my older macbook which has a hard drive that is almost full anyway.

There has to be a better way!

Ever since upgrading our iPhone 4 to iOS 5, we've had tremendous LAGS and DELAYS when typing text, such as typing the text in this comment field right now. These delays are ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE in Mail, where it sometimes takes 10 SECONDS for Mail to process what we're typing. This is tremendously annoying, and makes our iPhone 4 completely unusable!! Why did you do this to us, Apple?

I too have had horrible Lags on my first generation iPad. It's unusable. navigating around the device is painful.

I hope they address this.

Chris

It's pretty sad when losing access to email is considered "very bad". Tens of thousands of people dying in US hospitals each month because of infections and wrong prescriptions is "very bad". Loosing your email for a few days is nothing.

Well then get your sorry butt off this forum and go help slacker. That's bad too. But if half the world can't get any work done the we sure won't have time or resources to help others.

So what made you decide to go on an obscure tech forum today tti spread te word about infections? What a ...

Apple must really be on the bleeding edge of internet delivery at the moment.

It's hard to think of many other companies that :
- Has such a massive user-base (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Mac - and PC iTunes too)
- Has a 'lunatic fringe' userbase where a significant percentage of users will try to upgrade within minutes of a new version becoming available, rather than being nagged into upgrading.
- Is going "all in" on digital delivery. Mobile apps, Mac apps, Mobile OS, Mac OS, video store, audio store, cloud etc..etc..

I'm not surprised they're having problems.

I understand what your point was. I wasn't trying to be a jerk with my reply, I just think that it would be less stressful if those who are having problems chill out a bit and let Apple take care of things.

No worries, I did not think that you were trying to be a jerk at all.

Maybe we should call Al Gore. You know, since he invented the Internet maybe he could fix this. :D

anyone else getting error messages in the mail app on the mac? Keeps telling me "The iCloud IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user"

when I login on the website, I use my password and it gets me into iCloud but won't let me access my email. Contacts, Calendar, Find my iPhone all work etc.. just not mail...

??

iCloud on Mac OSX?

So the only way to access iWork files in iCloud is through a web browser? Are they freakin serious?

It updates automatically on my phone, but on my $2500 Macbook Pro, I have to:

1. log in to the iCloud website
2. Download the file I want
3. Make Changes to the file
4. Re-upload to iCloud

Seriously? I thought this was supposed to be seamless workflow between devices?

Yes, I am getting that too. I think it is just system problems, give it a few days till the traffic dies down or they make networking fixes.

Mine has been going out off and on most of the day. Seems to work better in my iPhone then my iMac or MBP. At least push still works.

It did just come back online for me within the last 10 mins and has been working fine. (but again it's been doing that off and on all day)

Patience, folks. The servers are overloaded with new users. Heck, some Internet peering locations are overloaded just from the pure IP traffic caused by initial Cloud syncs.

Oh the humanity!

Like most of you, I read about the release of 10.7.2 and iCloud and hit the Software Update. I started around 2pm on Wednesday and it was extremely slow. The downloads were installed and then iPhoto was downloaded next. It was around 8pm that I started getting the username/password error and it continues today. OOPS, I have a iPhone 4S coming and that should be interesting how it interacts with this outage. Do you think that RIM is too close to their problems to laugh at Apple?

Relatively trouble-free

The only problems I had were two: I couldn't reformat my iPhone 4 using my encrypted backup, because iTunes rejected the password I typed. So it'll be a few days reconstituting my folders, etc. Too bad, but nobody was killed in the process.

And upgrading to iCloud from Mobile Me? Simple. I got one warning about "high volume, try again later," and then, five minutes later, it happened just fine. I accessed all the iCloud apps except Mail, which gave me a server error. Might just be volume. I'm getting all my mail, just fine. I'd say it was a massively difficult transition -- new iOS, new Lion, new iPhoto, new setups, etc. -- in remarkably little time.

Of course, updating all these elements at the same time caused some difficulties. Remarkably few, it seems to me.

iCloud = MobileMe

I still can't get my icloud mail on my phone or ipad. It thinks I'm putting in the wrong password. Seems to me not to be any better than MobilMe when it came out. At least they already had the bugs worked out of that, now we have to start all over.

The bigger problem is the multiple Apple ID's

The bigger problem is the multiple Apple ID's

come on apple this is an ease of use issue what gives.

I can't even use my two email address in I message because of this... one me.com and one private email but because both are apple ID's I'm screwed oh and ps if I wanted to ditch my personal address and use my me.com for my apple I'd won't let me do that either because it's already one :(

ps. miss u Steve but u must be happy now in the cloud.

Back up and running 100% on all devices.

As a precaution I deleted my iCould Mail account on all devices (including Mac) and then re-added it.

Did the same for any Gmail accounts on the same devices that were routed through an Apple app.

All good now, and every last bit of information I had (Contacts, etc.) is intact.

Given that this was a mass-migration to a new system, I'm rather impressed that the down-time was as short-lived as it was.

Yup, my email is now nonfunctional.

Reset your MobileMe/iCloud Password.

make it comply with the stupid "capital letters" requirement of the password.

This is the secret to getting Email to work again

Google "p99-imap.mail.me.com"

for that error and it's fix as it relates to busted Email with iCloud.

no that wasn't it, iCloud Mail has been down for 2 hours and just went back online.

Just to add to the pile:

iPhone 4 and 2010 MacBook Pro running Lion:

Upgraded Lion and iTunes first, no issues.

Setup iCloud on the Mac.

Upgraded to iOS5 which took about 2 hours to complete (after the download was finished, so add a few more hours) No error messages, just took a very long time to process.

The final sync of my data processed while the phone was not locked for syncing, so I could interact with it and watch my apps fill in the screens. Weird to see them all with progress bars at the same time. Also strange to see a seperate Music and Video app, like an iPod touch.

Contacts were blank even after the sync was complete, but filled in later after setting up iCloud and waiting for about a half hour.

So far I'm happy with the upgrade, I was worried during the process as it took a long time to do it's thing.
