Doesn't matter, it's in everyone's iCloud music account. This was a marketing deal between Apple and U2 which is being FORCED on users.

It is *exact* same tactic that VZ uses with Android phones. How would you feel if Apple did the same deal w/ VZ to auto install all iPhone 6's on VZW to include VZ Navigator? You'd be happy with that?

Same. Exact. Idea.

Here are some other things that have previously been "forced on" users:
Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto, iMovie. Poor, poor users...
Why don't I see people complaining about those? Oh right, because downloading and using them is entirely optional.
As is downloading and listening to the U2 album.

And like every other App Store or iTunes Store purchase, you could already hide it without this special tool.
But kudos to Apple for catering to the mentally challenged I suppose.

Oh noes, deleting a free thing is such a pain! Hey at least they could delete it - wish I could get rid of a Singstar from my PS3..

This is different. Even if apple didn't release this tool, you can still hide iCloud purchases. It won't appear in your library. Problem solved.

This ONLY happened after the numerous complaints. This is the same CRAP WARE issue that plagues Android that I do not appreciate the same things happening in Apple.

So, don't complain or use "Android has crap ware" as an excuse or when Apple makes similar deals in the future.

Because that is the issue at hand which you don't seem to understand.

Your examples as well? These should not be forced on users either. Period.

U2 is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and an argument could be made that they are indeed the greatest.

If you don't like U2's music, then there is something wrong with you. This is what happens when an entire generation of kids grows up on Britney spears and Justin Bieber. No wonder the millennials are the worst generation in US history.

That was entertaining, thanks for your comment.

I'm dissappointed that the album hasn't shown up on my devices or in my purchase history
I want to listen to it & I don't have it.

Edit: for whatever reason its not showing up on my iOS devices, but I have found it on my Mac. Could iTunes Match have something to do with this?

All you folks saying: "Just ignore it" or "Hide it" or "First world problems"

Ok.... fine, then next time you debate an Android fanboy, don't use this argument:

"Apple iPhones don't have CRAP WARE on it."

Because guess what, iPhone does.

Also, the fact that you use a term like "smugtard" makes me think you are a millennial.

I just think it fits Bono pretty well. :)

If I had the chance to throw Bieber into a pit of hungry squirrels that would slowly but surely nibble him to death over many days I would jump at the chance. Actually, thinking about it, I'd honestly pay a decent sum of money to do just that, as long as I could watch and throw popcorn at him when the urge arose.

I'm surprised at how much people were going crazy that it was on there. They could of just downloaded and deleted it or they could of went into the music settings and only show music that you have downloaded. It's not that hard.

I have not read the thread, but the fact that Apple creates a tool that lets you permanently remove a free album from cloud storage is really awkward.

Completely agreed that pushing stuff on you is bad, but that kind of apologetic approach is just awfully strange.

Who cares. I have a "One Direction" Album that someone gifted to me as a joke ;) I cannot get rid of that either.

PS> Which is by the way a great fun. Just try it ... the gifting I mean.

Because (for the 50th time), this was forced on the user. Just like VZW does with VZW Android phones: FORCE APPS ON USERS like VZ Navigator.

Don't complain in the future if Apple starts doing that.

guess you never use shuffle ALL songs on any of your devices.

Can't say that I do.
But it wouldn't be a problem either way, because guess what – I didn't download the album to my iPhone.
It was entirely optional, so I chose not to. This album was never on my iPhone and likely never will be.

Hi, I'm a millennial and a former U2 fan... I outgrew U2. They're pretty cheesy and passed their prime in the early 90s. Also, it's pretty early to make such a sweeping generalization about 75 MILLION PEOPLE. For all we know, we may be the solution to all the issues that the Baby Boomers left us, maybe not! It's still to early to tell...

Some people (like myself) really put a lot of time curating their iTunes library, and it feels tacky to have your library impregnated with an album that you've never even sampled. So I appreciate this move.

In such a bold and inflammatory statement you sound like one of those kids that was brought up on Britney Spears and Justin Bieber.

Wow. People are really this ungrateful.

STOP generalizing people....It's not that they ungrateful but it's just they don't like u2....why should they have u2 on their purchase list if they don't like the band. Maybe they should have miley cyrus on YOUR PURCHASE LIST.

Maybe then we can label you as ungrateful.

It's unbelievable how I complain about other's preference. Maybe I shouldn't care whether they complain or not.

I guess you can never make everyone happy.

Correction:fixed.

I don't get all of the hate either. so what if the album shows up in your account? that doesn't mean you have to listen to it or download it. The only reason I would want it removed from my account is if the artist was someone that I was for some reason morally opposed to being associated with in any way (for instance, they were anti-semitic or advocated hate in other ways). U2? I may not be a huge fan, but I don't mind having their album in my library for free and appreciate the gesture.

It's their preference...why do you care about others?

Saving this thread just in case Apple ever makes a third-party app deal in the future.

So many hypocrites on here.... so many.

Your taste in music is hard rock. U2 is modern rock and mainstream. I stand by my assertion that if you don't like U2, then there is something wrong with you.

Aww, crap. I KNEW IT! I told my Mom I was special. She always said I was just as good as everyone else. But now I can go back to her with this diagnosis from some kid on the internet and prove her wrong. I HATE U2, so there is definitely something wrong with me. Does this also count as a prescription for drugs?
