Gimmick device no matter how cool/desperate their commercials are. No point in having an apple watch when you must have an iPhone on you at all times that does everything and more than an apple watch. Plus, it's ugly... looks like a cheap toy from a mcdonald's happy meal.
DO YOU OWN ONE? I love watch, I ACTUALLY use it on its own. it allows me to peek at email, messages etc. without drawing dirty looks from supervisors when a phone is pulled out. you are obviously misinformed or do not have first hand knowledge of its capabilities. Oh, and I can even play Pong on it, case closed.

What a pile of politically correct garbage these ads are.

I'm still no wiser as to the compelling need for an Apple Watch. By all accounts, the health and fitness aspects have been poorly implemented, judging by numerous reports on these fine forums. Yet that is the main focus of these ads. And even if those aspects were strong, they will only ever attract a very small market.

The other ads here are insufferably hip and irritating. I believe that Steve Jobs would have absolutely hated them. I wouldn't deign to speak for him, so if I am wrong, I humbly apologise to him. But the whole fashion celebrity angle was anathema to him, so it is hard to imagine that he would have had much time for the vacuous direction that Cook has taken his company.

Apple should abort this failed device, as they did the Newton, but no-one at Apple has the balls to do so. Scott Forstall would have done.

Three videos, "Row," "Chase," and "Golf," featuring a rower, a runner, and a golfer, respectively, all focus on the fitness capabilities of the Apple Watch.

Speaking from experience here regarding using AW for sports -- I think the Cookie Monster ad was more realistic. Apple really undermines itself focusing on using AW for anything other than a pedometer and casual HRM b/c it can only disappoint from the high expectations Apple has given though marketing and advertising. I mean all the videos last year of Christie Turlington using it to train for a marathon, the Apple putting sensors on Apple employees to monitor their workouts, etc. all just turned out to be icing w/o cake.

Me thinks they are trying to hard (and often).

Yes, this has been a characteristic of Apple ads ever since it arrogantly went in-house. They have a crew of amateurs doing this stuff now. I can't remember the last time Apple produced a memorable ad. Of course when you have subject matter like the AW it's not an easy task to begin with. I do love my AW, but it's more basic than the jack-of-all trades image Apple wants to project.

Agree about the ads, though Jobs did love design and thankfully so, but in the universal classic mode, not ever changing high fashion way. Also don't think AW is failed, just miscast. It should have never been launched with the fanfare Apple gave it. It would have been better off with a quiet original Apple TV "beta"/"hobby' disclaimer and no high expectations.

Does anyone know who is performing the song “Ready or Not” that is heard at the very end of the “Chase” ad?

I’m familiar with The Fugees’ version of it, which I really like, but I’ve never heard this version.

EDIT: Never mind. SoundHound identified it in like half a second!

The golf ad makes me laugh because the ad basically shows that the watch does nothing that a golfer would want to do since it doesn't have GPS!

If apple indeed is going to make a 20 to 40% thinner watch, i'd be intrigued.

if it was the same thickness as the digital crown diameter currently AND had GPS I would pre-order one. If it was the same thickness and had GPS I would buy one at some point after release. If it doesn't have GPS I will not buy it. From what I have read many others feel the same way. If I want to run I want GPS, if I want to play golf I want GPS, if I want it for navigation I want GPS. I can't imagine Apples employees haven't been telling them that they really wish it had GPS

Eh? Everyone I know who has one really likes it.

Politically correct? Are you on the wrong forum?
