I say they do a FaceTime commercial where the IRS is invading a home and taking away all the property while the children and parents scream and run in horror. I think that would relay good emotion to America.

If those deadbeats can afford iPhones but don't pay their taxes then they deserve it.

I Love the commercials because *I* can see myself relating to them. And it you look at the evolution of the iPhone Advertising it really makes sense as they have gone from marketing the phone/Browsing to the Apps commercials and now to Facetime.

It's very classic and modern and it's not like other commercials where people look like Hipsters who wandered out of urban outfitters or those awful zoom and stop motion camera angles.

I swear every time I watch blackberry a commercial it doubles as an American Eagle Outfitters commercial.

I really like these ads. I saw one late last night and immediately knew it was an Apple ad - that is good marketing if the consumer just sees a random face but connects the ad's style to a specific brand.

Big News scares me though, hope I don't get a call like that...

Exactly and if Blackberry is trying to appeal to business customers those commercials don't get that job done. I honestly think that's makes the marketing for the iPhone great they have always appealed to their target audience and never tryed to be all things to all people.

And i'm not sure why Apple even has to do commercials at this point because the iPhone is so widely known.

The only one that i kind liked was the "meet her" one, but the acting on all of them is awful, or rather the script

These are well filmed and full of emotion. Apple does well at creating and associating feelings.

BUT, I don't think FaceTime is the selling point of this phone. At least not for me.

More proof that we will be seeing more of Facetime in the months to come.
No way Apple would be pushing it this hard if it wasn't going to appear on the iPod Touch and iPad. The iPhone4 sells itself on other features aside from Facetime. This is just a good opportunity to get the idea into people's heads.

You don't know anything. This is great acting it's real and true. No editing just real. You hate and that's your fault.

You'd have to be pretty clouded in the head if you think these ads are anything close to being real, they're not.

And the video itself looks to be put in in post.

And they're definitely some of Apple's worst.

As for the ads, "you're holding it wrong."

If they feel they owe them, then by all means they should most definitely pay them. Otherwise...

I followed that link and all I can say is if you don't love your country no one is forcing you to live here. If you don't want to pay taxes move to Mexico.

Also, side note: Isn't it convenient that "grandpa" has both wifi AND an iPhone 4? Call me crazy, but I don't know anyone that age who can operate a normal cell phone, much less setup a wireless network, successfully use an iPhone 4, and place a FaceTime call with anyone...

I don't know if you're crazy or not. But you should get out more.

More than half of iPhones are owned by people over 35, and 17% are owned by people over 55 - which is roughly the same percentage owned by people under 24. http://gorumors.com/crunchies/age-demographics-of-iphone-users/

I have an 80-year-old uncle who has an iPhone and set up his own wireless router.

Cellphones and computers aren't hip devices that were just invented last year and can only be understood by the young. Personal computers are more than 30 years old, and have been in almost every office for 20 years. Cell phones are 25 years old, and have also been common for a long time.

Four excellent examples of where to not use a phone but rather talk to the other in person. What is wrong with their lives? Did they all missed what's important? And why is everybody so shy?

It hurts to see this happening. At least put some music there, so it becomes the cheap hollywood clip whose feeling it already delivers.

the only thing that bugs me about facetime is the whole wi-fi thing, and i know that's been said a million times.
but you can video chat on a laptop/computer from your house,
doing it with iphone 4 is cool because it's portable. but still, if you can't do it on the go, it seems way less useful/cool.

you pretty much have to sit down and plan to facetime someone, rather than just do it. if you want to show someone something, you can't be like. oh hey, check this out. it's more like, hey man. are you in a wifi area? ok, get to one. now turn on your wifi. alright. now look at this.

At the very least, i can see people using this a lot at home. Many homes have wifi in them, mine does at least, and these examples were all at what looked like their houses. Also, in the city (New York City anyway...), there usually is a wifi area nearby if you know where to go... They mentioned that it's only wifi "for now" if i remember correctly. Apple seems to realize that AT&T's network is pretty overloaded as it is, this would make it even worse. It would mean that people will be using data even while making a call.

Is it me or is the haircut one a little too stereotypical? The female is almost asking for permission to like her new haircut from the husband/boyfriend.

Am I the only one who got that feeling?

She already got the haircut, so she can't be asking for permission. She's looking for validation so she can figure out if people like it or not.

Don't Americans have "phone/chat/sex" adverts in the back of loads of their glossy magazines on the shelves of most newsagents?

Even computer games machines have "sex chat up" telephone adverts here in the UK.

Video Sex Calls are going to be major big business if this catches on.

Can someone explain why facetime cannot utilize the 3G network that users pay for? What the heck?

Do you read the news or are you a hermit? AT&T's network is overloaded. I'm fairly certain that apple isn't going to be putting anything more onto 3g until the current troubles are dealt with. Also, they said "for now" it's wifi only, so it should change in the future, like i said, when the troubles are dealt with.
