All of these people who are saying “OMG! This is the end of Apple!” Obviously weren’t Mac users in the 80s or 90s.
I fear that’s where things go in a lot of growing companies. I see it all the time among friends working in growing companies in different industries. The business grows. The market grows. The customer base grows, but the executives are pressured/threatened and/or given powerful incentives to actually reduce employee headcount. This is of course to drive down labor costs and ultimately please Wall Street more than anything else. It’s harmful long term. But it’s hard to get investors and boards of directors to look long term anymore. Too many want to get while the getting is good and move on to plundering the next company.
Companies used to be too big and inefficient (and many still are) so there was a movement a generation ago to become lean and mean. But like most good ideas, now that’s been taken too far.
Back on topic, well I’ve enjoyed the jokes and puns on this thread. But some of the comments show a low tolerance for the whimsical side of life. I can’t stand Disney or Mickey Mouse, usually...though I’m fond of my 47 year old Mickey Mouse watch. But I know plenty of adults who like to collect Disney memorabilia and they possibly would enjoy these. Live and let live.
Beats is about color and fashion and pop culture. This fits in with Beats.
Oh and as for the founders of Apple, remember they weren’t button down straight laced types. Nor did they found Apple for those who are.

Yep. With all of the questionable moves, crazy pricing, and getting political....my 2016 MacBook Pro will probably be my last laptop from Apple.
Coca-Cola Limited Edition will be next. Who said Apple can’t innovate...? Just remember not to open the box, that will ruin the value!!!
Beats doesn’t make mid-sized tower macs, so you may be barking up the wrong tree. For ****s sake, give us proper hardware already instead of these gimmickey toys...
Yes, but that doesn’t mean Jony works there or has anything to do with it. Apple also owns Gravenstein LLC and Braeburn Capital. Do you think he lurks in their offices micromanaging their business too?Is Beats part of Apple Inc?
When you make your largest acquisition ever then you make sure your top industrial designer approves ALL designs from the acquired unit. That's common business sense.Yes, but that doesn’t mean Jony works there or has anything to do with it. Apple also owns Gravenstein LLC and Braeburn Capital. Except there’s no evidence that it’s true. Jony has never been linked to beats, has never mentioned having that responsibility, etc. And they bought beats for Apple Music, not for the headphones. They’ve already made their money back multiple times from subscription fees alone. When you make your largest acquisition ever then you make sure your top industrial designer approves ALL designs from the acquired unit. That's common business sense.
And by the way, Braeburn capital is far more important to Apple than Beats. And jony doesn’t work there either. When you make your largest acquisition ever then you make sure your top industrial designer approves ALL designs from the acquired unit. That's common business sense.
I had a pair of those and promptly went back to the shop: the sound sucks.
Now you can buy headphones with a sound that sucks with Micky Mouse on it. It just fits in today’s product culture, nothing really shocking about it.
Our today’s culture is not about what you get to buy, it’s about what cash you put on the pile...
You’ve never been to Disney world or Disneyland and seen adults without kids, dressed in Disney regalia, trading pins, etc.?
He’s taken a job with beats has he?
Yep. With all of the questionable moves, crazy pricing, and getting political....my 2016 MacBook Pro will probably be my last laptop from Apple.
Would you imagine Steve Jobs on stage telling "one more thing" and showing this? This single question shows what's the current Apple situation.
People forget Steve Jobs was on the Disney board of directors, and at one time he was the largest single Disney stakeholder (because of the Pixar acquisition). I'm pretty sure his wife still is on the board, and Iger is on the Apple board maybe? There is/was a long-standing connection there.
The folks here are right about the adult Disney fans. This isn't aimed at kids at all. This will sell out. I have two pairs of Mickey Ray Bans that cost $250 each, and I'm 46 years old.
I don't like Beats at all or these would be mine.
Actually it does. It revolves around each individual. You might want to figure this out before it gets to late for you.As with everything Apple releases these days, everyone on MacRumors takes it as a personal insult towards themselves that they would release such a product.
Sigh.
The world doesn't revolve around you.
As a great man used to say: "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face."
This does not apply as there are some windows based laptops that are outstanding...and much cheaper. Heck...It might be more like adding a second nose![]()
Doesn’t matter what the topic, a lot of the comments make me laugh with their ‘threatening’ nature along the lines of ‘this is likely my last laptop from Apple’ ... ‘Looks like I’ll be switching to android’ etc. Hahaha.
Your comment is both hilarious and concerning. This is absolutely disgusting. At these prices this is clearly aimed at adults. Man children. We should not encourage grown adults to continue to have some sort of youthfulness in their hearts. It's as disgusting as grown men wetting themselves over the Batman films or Marvel films. This is toxic for adulthood. I know my sister-in-law is gonna be giddy over these ridiculous things because her husband is a Disney fan, but, really, at 36, he needs to grow up and be a man like me.
