I might get one of these Macbvook Pro's for Christmas this year as now I got a piad job I could get a really nice high spec Macbook. This summer I'm looking in to upgrading my gaming laptop to a newer model possibly get an MSI GE63 Raider with an RTX 2060, and then later in the year get the 8 core Macbook Pro with 512GB SSSD and AMD Vega 20 graphics!

so the minimal difference between the 2.2 now spec bumped to be 2.6ghz, means the 2.6ghz which was spec bumped to be the same base and +300mh boost is now not needed leaving just 2 cpus options. I'd never go for the i9 with the heat issues it has, so my 2018 with the 2.6ghz will perform near identically to the i7 2019. Might have saved $100, I'll live with that.

Now if only they'll update the 12" MacBook. Love the design and fanless element, would like it to be slightly more powerful though.

Nothing against a cpu bump and an improved keyboard but I was really looking forward to a 16". :/

"Substantially reduce" keyboard problems? Not "eliminate" keyboard problems?

You are uninformed if you think any corporate lawyer would. Allow them to use the word 'eliminate.' this is they same reason you read 'kills 99% of germs" on soap bottles. No one can guarantee something 100%, becaise things happen in life they can't expect to test for. So maybe instead of assuming it's bad from looking at words on a screen, I don't know try it and decide?

I really wanted FaceID to make an appearance on the MacBook Pro. Can't justify spending so much money and still not get the latest hardware...

HOLY CRAP!

Yeah, I think this just sold me to get the AppleCare. Like with it, and with no personal fault, they usually either repair or upgrade right? I just realised, everything is glued in, at least in my older 2012non retina, I could upgrade ssd and ram to max and replace just as easily. Here, that's glued in to the motherboard right?

Applecare, yep yep!!

yes, if you have a 2016 or newer, DIY repair is a 0. I switched to Mac in 2007 and this is the first time where I've purchased AppleCare. The battery failure was within the 1yr warranty but it was 2017, before an official keyboard program was enacted. To be fair, I did have failures on my previous Macs (LG Screen, Staingate, Air's battery) and those were covered either out of warranty or allowed a DIY repair.

Apple has built up a lot of good will in me but the fear (and fact?) that you have to budget for Apple Care with every Mac purchase now is a big concern. It may eventually precipitate a switch back to PC/Android - but MS and Google would have to persuade me to overcome some major trust issues with them.

It's called the iPad.

I believe the MacBook was Apples experiment with Mac OS on a fanless design. Once MacOS can run on a A series chipset.. the iPad will dual boot mac OS and iOS.. mark my words.

Such a premium for a computer without an SD slot! There were no updates for months and then the Pro gets 3 updates in less than a year. I'd love one but I think I will wait for a model without a Touch Bar.

Why does anyone need an SD slot anymore with insanely fast wifi wireless connections?

So butterfly keyboard, no thanks.
Only four Thunderbolt 3 ports and nothing else? WTF?!
Still has that stupid gimmick touchbar? Ugh.

Guess I will keep my 2012 and 2015 MBP still. There's always next time. Or Hackintosh.

Also the idea of having the dock in the TouchBar is cool and I would love to see that being implemented by Apple at some point. Even now though, in its current incarnation I like the TouchBar a lot.
macOS could certainly improve Touch Bar in very significant ways:
  • There should minimally be an option to hide on-screen feedback of certain Touch Bar controls, such as changing the volume. I don't want to see a giant volume head up display on the main screen.
  • More Control Strip items, such as ability to launch a specific app, eject all external volumes, and invoke the dark mode.
  • Option to always show the Escape key on the left.
  • Dock mode. The entire Touch Bar becomes the dock, minus the Control Strip (with option to always show the Escape key on the left).
  • Multi-tap Fn key. For instance, single tab = Control Strip. Double tab = the dock. Triple tap = function key row.
