Sorry Apple, I'm definitely not coming back. The last few months with a Pixel XL have been great. The best part is not having to install iTunes cancer on my PC and being able to copy media from any PC I wish has been liberating.
Yeah, some ios apps require itunes in order to get files on the device. Stupid Anki flashcards is one. Although you can use their website sync.

My two unworthy cents on this. Tired of the battles of iPhone vs Android. I've owned several iPhones and several Android phones. I see the benefits of both of them. I never judge someone's taste of phone preference. I love my phone and you should love your phone whatever kind it may be. It's simple as that. Can we all now go back to less talking and more starring at our [phone] screens.

I will switch back when iOS gives me the ability to customize the OS to my linking.

I will use iOS again when I can set all my default stuff to Google stuffs.

I will use iOS again when I can use Google Assistance as default.

The most importantly, there are lot more choices with Android and for certain things, Android is actually easier.

And I can find cheaper Android devices and runs like champ

You can use your current wired headphones with iPhone 7 out of the box.

No, I can't. Thanks to Apple's modern software quality. I have Bose QC25 and SoundSport headphones, both with Android remotes. I was okay with the remotes not working as is the case with the iPhone 6s. But with the 7 through the adapter, it's nothing but intense clicking in your ear. Pressing the buttons repeatedly for half a minute helps for a while but it comes back, and I've had the problem come back during phone calls and dropping the call.

There is simply no excuse for that and just more shoddy quality from Apple.

I'll take structured and boring. I like my devices to be secure and work consistently. Wasting time endlessly troubleshooting things that stop working for no reason is far from my idea of fun; though granted, it's certainly not boring.

If that's the worst people can say about iOS, personally I think that says why it's the best.
Honestly I find iOS being structured and boring to be a great feature. It's great that I can pick up any iOS device and I know exactly how to get to wherever I need to go. It's very useful for helping people. I use to love fooling around with devices, and I still enjoy that sometimes, but at the end of the day I'd rather not have to.
Now if Apple Music wouldn't jack with my library.

It is so much easier! Made the move last Nov after using Android for years. A couple of times a week I still look at my iPhone 7 Plus, shake my head, and wonder why I put up with the lack of OS updates and poor customer for all of those years. Awesome phone. Worried the battery wasn't enough but its been great too! So happy I made the change. I'll be keeping an eye on how well Google manages its Pixel line. But Apple has so much more experience on the hardware manufacturing and customer support that I can't see them ever catching up to a point where I'd go back.

The pixel line has me interested for two main reasons: truly stock (and tuned) android, and Google Project Fi.

I switched to android a while back when the Moto g3 came out. For how little I paid, it was an excellent, water proof phone with awesome 1 handed gestures for camera and flashlight.

I got a galaxy S7 used and the screen and camera are top notch, but the software is crappy.

The biggest problem I've had, though, is Verizon. Amazing coverage everywhere except my home. For what I pay per month I am frustrated to no end with V. Project Fi might be the deciding factor for me.

Cheap price of android is not worth getting hacked.

Unless you go to the Moto g line for real value, Android isn't really cheap anymore. There are always crap phones but you can tell instantly.

Annoying is slighting different than none existent. Which of the adapters (dongles as they are called) have you tried? When the 7 first came out it was an issue because they didn't have them but now you can buy all kinds of two in one dongles even though they annoy you. So charging and music playback are possible.
Possible? Yes. Convenient? Hell no. I just wanna plug my headphones in. I don't want to have to look for an additional adapter, that only allows for playing audio. Then buy another adapter that allows for playing audio and charging? I thought Apple was all about "it just works"? The headphone thing is still ridiculous IMO. With my S8, it feels great to be able to charge my phone and listen to music at the same time. Instead of wanting to listen to music on my iPhone....but oh wait I can't just yet, b/c I have to charge my iPhone first. That's the main thing about my 7+ that truly drives me nuts. I dont want to have to buy extra adapters or get apple's overpriced wireless headphones. I just wanna plug my headphones in and listen to my media

Apple releasing/revamping this ''Switch'' site just a few weeks after the release of the new Samsung S8.

Coincidence??

I dont think so...

"Life is easier on iPhone'', not at all Apple. After 7 years using every new released iPhone I can tell you my life is much, much more easier (and a lot more productive) with my new S8 then every other iPhone from the past.

"Why is iPhone so fast'', no Apple. My new S8 is in some cases even faster/smoother then any of my previous iPhone 7 (or any of my earlier iPhones)

That 2nd video is pure nonsense
My experience with the S8 in stores begs to differ. It's still a laggy POS experience, thanks to the whole VM mess.

inb4 "ya but don't judge store display models" and why not? iPhone display models are always flawless. Just because the phone is capable of being ruined by installing a handful of apps or widgets doesn't mean it gets a free pass.

It's business as usual with Samsung and their S8: beautiful hardware ruined by some of the worst software in the industry.

Capture precious moment ... iPhone locked. Thanks to stupid Ive symmetry for 3 years now.

Never done that myself either. Can you show us how you hold the phone, so we can see why that happens for you?

For my iPhone SE, I do find the current case that I have interferes with my ability to actually press the buttons while holding the phone in a comfortable way, but that's no fault of the phone. And the Sleep/Wake button is on top, so I don't have the symmetry problem that you do.

I do think you highlight a problem that still needs a good solution, though. Taking photos one-handed is probably my biggest beef with my SE. Never had that problem when I used other cases, so I know the solution - get a different case, not a different phone. :)

No, I'm specifically referring to the Android experience. Everything from the colour schemes to the animations to the aesthetic of the apps it attracts. Just doesn't compare to iOS.

That's not how Android works. Because Android is so open source, you can customize it to your hearts content.

On a basic level, you can download a "launcher" from the app store such as Nova Launcher. FYI a launcher is basically a homescreen replacement made to replace your default homescreen UI. Launchers either come with a pre-designed UI, or a barebones UI that you can customize from scratch. Heck, I think there is even a launcher in the play store that exactly mimics the homescreen on iOS!

Don't like your default icons? Well now with most launchers you can replace all your default icons with thousands of beautifully designed icon packs from the play store.

Smart Launcher is one of the "pre-designed" homescreen UI and I gotta say it is a very nice one.
01umHorvoMLDphfXH0WExxGt7ID8n8vzf-9iFW9qbBLtlRbFQxLJU9AOsVdG0wSQlOah=h900

BUT, if you truly want to make your homescreen as aesthetically pleasing as possible, you'll have to manually do it yourself with Nova Launcher. There really is no limitations when it comes to Nova Launcher, here are some very nice themes that others have built (source: reddit @ /r/androidthemes):

But that's just the homescreen. If you really want to change the aesthetics of everything (animations, system UI), you'll have to flash a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod/LineageOS through your Android's custom recovery. FYI a custom ROM is basically the same concept as a launcher, but it applies everywhere throughout the device. I'm currently running my Android device on a ROM called ResurrectionRemix and I can change everything from the fonts to the animations and I even get features that I've never even had before like double tapping on the status bar to lock your device.

[doublepost=1495483175][/doublepost]DISAGREE WITH THE CLAIMS ABOUT BATTERY LIFE. IOS10 KILLED BATTERY LIFE.

I get great battery life with my SE. Did you upgrade an older device over top of the existing installation? That's known to have issues, and doing a fresh install quite often solves them.

There's other factors, too. Do you disable WiFI and Bluetooth when you don't need them? Do you let the device power-manage itself, such as adjusting the screen brightness? Do you have any bad actor apps that may not sleep properly when not in use? I have a few apps like that, and quitting them solves the issue.

It's a shame that the one they make is made cheaply so it stops working in one or another after a couple of months (I've gone through 3 of them already).

Oh and if you want to charge your phone and listen to music (because good luck getting the iPhone 7's battery to last the day), you're utterly screwed.

I love my iPhone 7 to bits, but my god, the removal of the headphone jack was the most stupid and anti-consumer move Apple has ever made on the iPhone and seriously makes me consider switching to an iPhone 6S Plus or something.
This!!!!! I still have a soft spot for my iPhone 7 Plus. Still think it's an overall solid smartphone but damn it the headphone jack removal was such a terrible idea from a customer standpoint. As a person who sells phones for a living, the number 1 complaint that I've heard against the i7 is the lack of a headphone jack. It's seriously annoying as hell.

"but you can just buy an extra adapter that charges and has a headphone jack" Like what the hell? Why should have to buy an additional dongle to charge my phone and listen to music? I've already dropped damn near a stack on the phone. Now I have to buy more crap just to get a feature that 30 dollar tracfones have? The simple ability to play music and charge the damn device? And no I'm not buying some overpriced hideous looking apple wireless headphones. All I wanna do is plug in my headphones and hit the play button in the music app. I can do it on my PC. I can do it on my S8+. But I can't do it on the one device that's supposed to be "so easy" and "magical" and "it just works" aka my iPhone

Life was easier on Android. I could control profiles extremely easily, allowing me to control exactly what apps and people made sounds. No beep beep beep from Facebook and SMS.

On iOS - noisy or silent. Neither are appropriate for work or family situations.

Going back to Android when my 6 is no longer usable.

EDIT: And on Android it was much easier to download the music I own, rather than having to rent that music from Apple.

This is huge. Being able to actually transfer the files without the mess that is iTunes - and having to pay for the things you already own - makes it so much simpler.

I think a lot of people were quite rightly turned off with the awful ugly skins from Samsung and others 4-5 years ago. It's only in the last two or so years have they produced aesthetically pleasing products. Google's OEM machines have been nice since day one, but they're marginal to many people's experience of "Android".

That will change.

On Android I can use programs like JuiceDefender, that aggressively protect power when I need it, and allow me to use power-saving modes all the time if I want. Apple's iOS version is a poor substitute for an actual power manager.

unless you decide to keep your current wired headphones.

<Yawn>]
Are we still bleating on about that?
You get an adaptor, free, in the box with the 7 which makes that statement all the more lame.
It certainly didn't affect sales and Apple's last few quarterly reports so it seems this is a minority thing.
All that and the Air Pods have turned out to be the best product Apple's come out with in years.

You "but, but, no wired headphones" lot are starting to remind me of the same folks who said they couldn't live without a real keyboard on their phone.
?
Yeah, thought so...

My midnight black S8+ is a thing of beauty. It's fast and stable. That always on display is trick and those edge notifications are beautiful. I've really enjoyed using the Gear VR headset. The Infinity qHD display is top notch. Battery life is very good. The experience has been excellent. It's nothing like Android phones of 4-5 years ago. The Samsung Experience software has came a long way since the S3 Touchwiz days.

The last thing is I don't see Apple Pay as an advantage over Samsung Pay. Samsung Pay works on just about every card reader and they have an awesome rewards program and tons of freebies.

Now with that said, I also own an iPad Air 2 and I can totally understand why iOS appeals to certain crowd. It's boring, but it's simple. Simple sells well.

The strong competition between Android manufactures (especially Samsung) and Apple means we all benefit with better products.

Yeah, i don't know about boring..IOS has the best music apps that actually work and are released for Iphone first.
But the integration with the mac is excellent which is what sells most people I think. I can't wait to see how fast the next processor is!

I could never recommend Android phones to my family and friends, unless they are specifically looking for a cheaper phone. Poor update policies and inconsistent experiences from manufacturer to manufacturer, both in terms of hardware and software, make this a non-starter. Most people I know do not even contemplate installing a different launcher or flashing a ‘ROM’. iPhone remains the solid, unfortunately expensive, choice every time.

Integration with the Mac is good, but if you have to live a life with a PC in the mix I find Google to be easier to integrate. As long as you stay all Apple iOS is great, but if you throw other platforms into the mix life gets a bit more messy. Ever used iTunes on Windows? :)

You clearly don't get it do you. I'm sick and tired of you guys comparing the removal of the 3.5mm jack to other entirely different hardware changes such as the shift from the 32-pin to 8-pin port or what you just said. There's an obvious difference, and it's that there is NO replacement for the 3.5mm headphone jack, it's GONE. The shift away from physical keyboards was replaced by virtual keyboards, and the shift away from clickable physical home buttons was replaced by a home button that had a motor to mimic the physical click. Well now instead of a replacement for the 3.5mm audio jack, it is now merged into the 8-pin connector. THIS is the REAL problem.

No, I am saying they don’t care. Even many of the technical-minded people I know keep everything vanilla. It are mostly the enthusiasts that are doing this.
