Major fail. Not having a headphone jack sucks. I'm dealing with it based on the fact that I'd soon have a good solution. This new news does not impress me much.

Take one of the most uncomfortable products in Apple's lineup and make it wireless. (Oh wow.) Nothing like sticking hard plastic into your ear canals. Would it honestly kill Apple's profit margins to enhance the user experience and add a silicone tips to these things? Surprising coming from a company that supposedly designs its products with the end user experience, comfort, and ergonomics in mind.

They are paying homage to Jobs. That design goes back to iPod. Enough, is enough. Apples earphone should be setting the tone for the industry. What the hell are they doing with all that cash? Oh yeah, paying each other.

"They include advanced features like infrared sensors to detect when they're in the ear,"

So, I take it Apple is discriminating against Zombies and Vampires. Just in time for Halloween too. Crimmany Jickets.

I always imagined Ive was in Milan "marketing watch bands", when he got the call urgently requesting a headphone design, to which he responded: "just cut the bloody wires off the one we got, cap it with a silver grommet and squeeze everything into that. Haven't you morons learned anything from me? Now don't bother me any more I have several more parties to attend to give away $20,000 Editions".

Being unable to control the volume, advance or back up and pause music without using Siri or touching my phone then this product is not for me.

I don't understand Apple announcing a delay at the time a product should be shipping. Shouldn't the product have been in manufacturing weeks ago?

C'Mon man!

Um... well that's what you get for paying for a product that incredibly cheap -_-"
Did you miss the part where the problems didn't occur in iOS 9? Or were you just going for a quick zing and missed?
Same earbuds, but none of these problems in iOS 9.

Will be interesting to see if an iOS update precedes the shipping of AirPods. I'm guessing there might be a few updates, in quick succession. An iOS update means bugs in Bluetooth were causing problems; which would likely affect AirPods AND other Bluetooth devices. Considering iOS 10.1 SPECIFICALLY pointed out Bluetooth as an area of improvement, we know they're working hard for some reason (Hint: AirPods). Sure will deflate the balloon Apple so-snarkily filled with hot air when they called into question the quality of other Bluetooth devices at the AirPods announcement if all these Bluetooth improvements end up making all those cheap headsets work much much better too.

Part of the product appealed to me as you can switch from iPhone to Watch to iPad etc where you're signed into iCloud on those devices.

Are there any third party competitors who offer anything similar or is it just an Apple only thing for now?

I hope they're taking the time to make them stay in your ear better. The shape of the wired earbuds don't stay in at all. It's ridiculous

I know people don't like the design, but if it's as clear to talk as people are saying than I would be perfectly happy with the design. I really like my Bose wireless earphones, but the mic on them isn't that good.

If airpods added the ability to change tracks, and increased the sound quality, I think they would have a winner!

I'd rather rather they get them right, even if that means a delay. They're running against the clock though. Too late and they miss the holiday shopping season.

Funny, I don't have to be signed into any thing to easily switch my earphones between devoces. It's just a simple pull of a cord, and a quick insert of a plug and i'm listening to a new source!

I've been rocking the AirPods for over a month now, and I can surely say that they will be worth the wait, regardless of how long the delay will be, stay happy and positive people! They are right around the corner!
Are you finding any bugs or problems on yours that might indicate a delay? I'm speculating it's just a matter of production yield myself.

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad," Shigeru Miyamoto
That's a factor of Nintendo games not being able to update after release but.

I think it's awesome that they are getting it right though they should have prepped the release date more carefully. They aren't new to this thing so the notion of them changing it seems a bit amateurish.

But, the overall view, get it right before they'll have to recall the entire line like another manufacture we know of who can't even advise to turn their device on.
