Bought jaybird freedoms with my 7 plus. So easy to connect / pair, better sound profiles, fit options and the battery clip that charges while I use them, I've never had them drain to the point that I couldn't get to a charger (and I use them daily for 8+ hours with my old MacBook / phone for work). I'll pass on earrings ... errr... Airpods lol

Massive bummer... for those who were planning on ordering them. I've already got a full suite of bluetooth headphones I'm not in any hurry to replace.

Dammit!

Well, they're going to sell a ton of these, so hopefully this delay avoids an AirPod-gate happening.

(but I really wanted them NOW )

Such a shame, I really wanted to get these. I hope they arrive in time for Christmas.

Hopefully they are going to deal with the criticism of not being able to skip songs by developing some new touch mechanisms to allow this to happen.
You can skip songs by tapping. You can toggle either Siri control or song pause/skip via iPhone control panel. But maybe they're considering even more software toggles now...

They are avoiding a Samsung incident by releasing something that is not ready. They are not adding features ....

Its strange that Apple leave it until the last moment to announce a delay. Either they were trying to fix an issue with a work around or have found an issue. If its hardware then that means that they have no stock of an issue free product so meeting demand for xmas will be impossible.

I must have wrong ears, because apples headphones have never stayed in and have always been painful.
Their current version with their somewhat asymmetric shape fit so well that I have managed to start searching for them while they were still in my ears. In contrast, my Jaybird X2s both hurt and fall out more easily.

Point being that any earphone type will fit some people better than others. Every manufacturer has to make a choice, delighting some customers and annoying others. And any manufacturer worth its salt will try to pick a shape that maximises the size of the first group and minimises the size of the second. But different manufacturers will select different strategies, in the choice of material: pure hard plastic (current Apple earphones), hard plastic with rubber inlets (previous Apple earphones), silicon tips, foam tips, and the shape of earplug: round (previous Apple earphones), asymmetric (current Apple earphones), with wings (Jaybird X2), etc..

Part of that strategy is also whether to choose earphones that almost everybody is ok with or earphones that 90% prefer over an only-ok version but 10% find worse than an only-ok. It seems the current Apple earplug shape has moved from a 99%-ok to a 90%-good with 10%-bad version.

So Apple release the iPhone 7 plus with 2 major features/changes. Two camera's but you cant benefit for over a month, then its STILL in beta. Removal of the headphone jack.......(Apple)"But we have a solution....but you can't use our solution for a few months"

Apple your really dropping the ball lately. So disappointed. I was weighing up the competition, after I have got over the ugly look of these things, now with this news, they look ugly again and the downside of the competition is my weighing points.

Those Dash might get a lot of people reconsidering now.

Booooo! I was so looking forward to ordering them tomorrow. I'm curious, though, what in particular is "not quite ready"? Software? Hardware? Manufacturing yield? I feel this doesn't bode well as to when we will see these ship...

They've lost their focus.. it's really showing with announcements like this. First of all.. put out a statement yourselves.. or just change the info on your website. Techcrunch really?? And you wonder why stock dropped on previous announcements. This will send it down again. Of course they'll rebound tomorrow which is why this is announced at the end of the day today. But in after market trading it will keep sliding, though not crazy. If there's any sort of delay in the macbook line up I'd say they are about to see some serious backlash from stockholders. Frankly I'm not touching anymore Apple products till the end of 2017 if not longer. Love the stuff they've put out but these last couple years have shown a huge lack of focus. With all these crazy car rumors, same phone design, ipad's getting bigger?? and issues with IOS being super buggy, it's clear they no longer have a clear indication of where they want their future to go and are just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

First the iPhone 7 & 7Plus Jet Black delivery snafu, now AirPods delay. Heads in Apple Production Planning should roll.

Plus making the announcement on the day Microsoft introduces interesting new products, makes Apple look like they are falling behind.

This is disappointing I was very much looking forward to buying these.

Despite the paid for positive reviews, those same reviewers have probably mentioned a ton of bugs.

Which is no surprise. BT headphones are crap.
Actually reviewers have had them for weeks with little to no issues. Instead of making up things maybe do some research. Its most likely a manufacturing issue causing hiccups in mass productions.

I would however like them to add some sort of skip/volume control (Like hold left bud to lower and Right to raise volume. Double tap left bud to skip back a song and right to skip ahead)
