So who's idea was it to remove the headphone jack again?? Im happy they aren't rushing them out, but it's still creating more problems than gaining any useful features.

Microsoft dropped quite a bomb in their lap with this release 24 hours before theirs. Whatever Apple talks about will look like a response to ...all that. VR headsets and giant touchscreen workstations, vs... a little touch sensitive control strip and some wireless headphones.... man they better have some big news, or this little stuff is going to look like they've been twiddling their thumbs this whole time.

For two years straight Microsoft did well in their event and as a fan it's been a pleasure to watch but I do not want Apple to fall behind; not even the level 100 fanboy in me can deny the importance of Apple and more importantly Apple getting stuff right; I hope Apple pull something out of no where; as this will keep Microsoft honest.

I don't get why people make jokes or stupid comments about the AirPods and losing them.... there are MANY headphones now like this where there is ZERO wires yet they don't get any stick or jokes thrown at them...

People like to bitch cause its Apple. So annoying and pathetic.
It's not about the no wires, a lot of people have trouble with the apple earpods staying in their ear.

I'm disappointed. I've been holding out buying expensive BT earbuds (AirPods) and using my sub $25 BT earbuds for the past month. Bluetooth sucks with them. Static, intermittent disconnects, go to answer a call and it answers on the phone speaker instead of the earbud, manually having to tap "Connect" and toggling on/off Bluetooth in settings before it connects... ugh.

Same earbuds, but none of these problems in iOS 9.

Guess I keep waiting. Then it ends up being like Apple Pencil release where there aren't any available for several months after release. Apple has been frustrating for an early adopter the past couple of years.

Very annoying but I'm glad they're not releasing a product that isn't up to their standards. (Hopefully they'll add the ability to change volume on the AirPods themselves?)

It thought it was a bit strange that we'd heard nothing at all from the September event up to now.

Perhaps I'll buy a Mac in the meantime!

Hopefully we're talking no more than a month. Could be a few weeks. Please tell us more tomorrow Apple!!

You're asking too much. There will be no change that us customers will notice.

Um... well that's what you get for paying for a product that incredibly cheap -_-"

The website still says that they're being released in late October, so I'm still optimistic that they'll be released tomorrow (maybe just for preorder) and that this isn't true

Other sites have reported this too. Sorry. They've been delayed.

Has Apple ever presented a product at a keynote event and then added additional functionality after the fact? I genuinely can't remember that ever happening... I find it hard to believe they would do so now with the Airpods, and they're definitely not going to miss/postpone their release date because of added functionality.

Microsoft didn't drop anything, their stuff still runs on the same crappy operating system. Hardware doesn't mean crap, if software is garbage.

I open my machine, start Lightroom or PS and work. Most don't sit there gawking at how beautify their OS is and what wallpapers do for them.

I desperately in need a new computer and no chance I'm buying a year+ old iMac at retail. Apple needs to get it together and get core product to market instead of distracting themselves with crap products they can't even deliver on time - like these earbuds.

So very sad. I've been visiting MR every day for release news on these. Ordering replacements of my cheapo BT earbuds to tide me over.

Also, late comment about the tired joke and misguided trend of believing these will constantly fall out and get lost RIGHT WHEN YOU GET THEM:
  1. About falling out: They're the same shape as the wired earbuds, therefore they wouldn't fall out any more frequently than those. In fact, it's the wires themselves that contribute to the buds being yanked out of your ears anyway (whether your run the wire under your shirt or over).
  2. About getting lost: No. As soon as one pops out (which, sure, it will happen), you have two notifications to let you know one came loose; a) the music stops playing b) your skin tells you. You'll be able to tell as one begins to slip away from your ear and firmly tap it back in just like I'm sure we all do now. Hopefully tapping it back in doesn't also activate Siri though. That'd be really annoying. ;)

This is actually a really good thing. I would much rather Apple announce products that they're not quite ready to release than leave us in the dark for so long. Mac Pro, I'm looking at you.
No. it is not a good thing? They should know better when it comes down to sending out a product in time with good quality. They ****ed up

Ummm... Jaybirds for 149 give you an 8-Hour battery life.

But thanks for feeding us trolls.

"Enjoy 8 hours of play time with on-the-go listen-while-you-charge mobile charging (4 Hrs on-board + 4 Hrs with the included Charging Clip)."

So, literally one third the battery life of the AirPods... and on their website, they're $199.

I can see these being hard to find stock if releasing before Christmas. Really looking forward to trying them out.

Is this the first time Apple has delayed a product after they gave a release window? I can't think of anything else that's been delayed apart from maybe a software feature or two.

I'll say it again ... totally botched the removal of the headphone jack. Essential transition technology should have been ready day one, not a month and half later, and now with no ETA at all ... really inexcusable, especially considering how much time they've known this was going to happen. Probably won't affect sales of the iPhone 7 substantially, but really poor form considering all the other compromises customers who made use of the headphone jack have made since upgrading to the iPhone 7.

It's called a dongle, bro. Comes in the box. Take a chill pill.
