Apple Delays iPhone 3G S Pre-Orders to Prevent Early Delivery?

Premature ejaculation. Don't believe everything UPS tells you. Wait and see on Friday before blowing up.

Called UPS and they confirmed it. UPS also screwed a lot of people who took time off when they posted bogus tracking info. Presently in KY awaiting customs release, if you can believe that bull. No delivery on Sat, so most people won't get it till Mon.

Shouldn't have taken the time off work. Apple said the 19th why would you not expect a release this big to be held until the actual day they are suppose to be released?
As I stated above, it is common practice for courier companies to offer holds on deliveries until a specific date, here are UPS and FedEx special services that do just that:

AT&T offered the same options. I ordered one on the 9th from AT&T online to ship to my house (after trying to get it shipped from Apple.com didn't work).
I'm really hoping it gets here Friday - since I head out of town on Saturday and don't get back until late Tuesday. But AT&T's tracking still says "In Progress."
Can't wait to hear the bitching about how this is unfair. So I guess they'd rather camp than have it hand delivered to their door

I ordered my 3Gs from apple.com about 2 hours after the keynote. I got the email from apple about the technical mess-up:

Due to a technical error, we communicated an incorrect delivery date. We want to assure you that your iPhone 3G S will deliver on June 19th
Now, it Wednesday morning, and still hasn't shipped...

Umm, I think early delivery option means in the AM vs the PM, not earlier than the date promised or scheduled. ;-)
One more thing - AT&T did say in their email that they would be providing free overnight shipping. So I don't really expect my phone to ship until tomorrow. But I do still expect it to arrive on the 19th. I suspect the same holds true for Apple.com orders.
I hope thats right, because mine are:
I called Apple yesterday because the one labeled as "Not yet shipped" actually was "Prepared for shipping", then the status changed and now my FIRST order switched from Not Yet Shipped to Prepared for Shipping, it was strange. They assured me that everything was on the up and up however, so I guess I'll wait and see.

Same here. I also am a victim of the "technical difficulties" which shows it won't even ship until the 19th. Called them this morning and they assured me it would ship on the next business day and will arrive on the 19th. We shall see.
Right. People need to just calm down. They are going crazy with anticipation, but it's not Friday yet. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing to worry about until it's Saturday morning and you didn't get your iPhone Friday.

so you want to contact UPS and try to circumvent the system by telling them to deliver the item when the originator told them not to?
Looks to me like the technical glitch is the "June 22" delivery date. They confirm that your phone will be delivered on June 19 so I wouldn't sweat it one bit.
