Wow. When everyone was hyping the hell out of the iPhone I mas a little surprised, but didn't care much. I had no interest in getting one. When there were no Mac-related (or even iPod related) products released at MacWorld I was a little miffed, but I figured it would be available soon.

Now I'm actually kind of ticked off. **** the iPhone.

Well as much as I think delaying Leopard for a telephone is a mistake, I will say that the current OSX (Tiger) is great, and right now I'm running both OSX and Windows XP at the same time (thanks Parallels), so it's much nicer to have a computer that can do both at once than only Windows.

I'm a PC user and was about to buy my first Mac. The New OSX has been delayed again and to be honest I'm losing interest. As much as I hate Vista it's here and now!!! Apple Inc. seems to have lost interest in there Computers also. The Suspense is gone now I'm just mad. I mean First appletv, Then iPhone, Next ibegone! Someone please talk me into staying the course.

Delayed again? Nope. Despite what some rumored it was never planned to be released before spring on in early spring. Don't blame Apple for false rumors even in the face of many folks stating that the rumors of an early release happened to be wrong.

It is also totally false that Apple has lost interest in Macs.

Just get one and be happier NOW.

eh.. might as well get it right the first time when the new OS is released than to have it all crappy.

as for AAPL shares, no worries there unless y'alls were already planning to unload it in the next quarter for some reason. company is still pretty solid for future growth so any price drop will just rebound pretty quickly. for anyone looking to buy though, might be a good time to jump in if it drops low enough

:apple:

The Apple experience does not hinge upon Leopard, it exists already, is great, and will hopefully get better in October.

Ladies, ladies. Tampon time.

It's only 3-4 more months. We as a people will endure. We will get through this crisis.

Awful news. While the iPhone was revolutionary and all, I wasn't getting excited because I probably couldn't afford it. Leopard was the Apple product I was looking forward to because it would usher in new apps from developers (Delicious Library for one) and bring new usability to my everyday computing. And not July, August, or September but October. Knowing Apple, this will probably be October 31st. Really disappointed. :(

You got it!

Mac OS Vista 10.5

Good time to buy Apple shares.

While Apple is making sure as best as it can that the iPhone and Leopard will be up to their usual standards, idiots will cause a drop in the share prices, the smarties will short Apple, then go in and buy them, all based on the same type of dumb reactions I am reading here above. Apple lied, Tiger is soooo bad I can't live any more-- so I will buy a Dell (great act of suicide, which for those posters based on Darwinian principles, should be strongly encouraged).

In reality, a very full featured phone that WORKS, followed by a typical first release OS-- some bugs, a couple serious-- rather than a disaster all round seems to me to be a much better scenario than TWO highly anticipated items that are awful!!! It shows how little some of the posters have ever had contact with creativity, originality and manufacturing, but like Imus, they are just as useful. Meanwhile, Apple HAS done the right thing and by end of year, the share price will reflect its decision to be best rather than mediocre.
I do hope though that any computers bought with Tiger on board, after June 11, will be eligible for a FREE upgrade to Leopard, otherwise I see very low computer sales for the next few months. Apple, think about it! Think different!!!

Hardware

.

The stupidest thing about this is that Jobs should just make things right, and let us know when we can expect hardware updates.

I'm beginning to fear that they will delay Santa Rosa, etc., until September 2007 too???

Did they calculate that people have Tax Returns burning in their pockets???? I'm tempted to buy a used C2D mac now, buy other crap, and wait a year to Ebay the used one and buy new from Apple.

uuuuurrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Disappointing, but I really can't say Im surprised by this news. I'm sure Apple has been well aware of this news for some time now. It seems pretty obvious based on the news (or lack thereof) regarding leopard progress and it's top-secret new features.

Speaking of those top-secret features, let's hope those a legitimate items to get excited over!

This is a good thing. Leopard was not looking like a compelling release to me, and the developer builds sure as hell have not been working as needed. We now know that we will see what we are going to get in June (hopefully with some rocking features!). There will be no more speculation. Further, Apple has the opportunity to give us a ROCK-SOLID build of Leopard come October. Instead of something half-assed in June. I'm ready for the iPhone in June. Lord knows, I never could have handled the iPhone and Leopard at the same time.

What you are saying doesn't make any sense. The os 10.4.9 is way better than xp or vista so why wait? They delayed it so that it would be a good product, not a rushed piece of crap. Yes, we are all a little bummed but you really have to put it in perspective. Either buy now or wait for the next hardware release, os x is too good to kill yourself for another 6 months without it.

dammit

first of all im so pissed with apple for doing this im so f*ing pisssed ahhhhhhhhh why apple why:mad:
i was planning on buying a mac pro right after leopard came out at WWDC but i can't wait until October so I will not get loepard with it so i will have to upgrade in the future.
I really hope that apple releases iLife 07 and iWork 07 at WWDC or earlier.
Does anyone think that that will happen.

Apple Still Rules:apple:

Bad News: Leapord won't come out til October (put $200 in the bank) and in 2008 there will possibly be new MB and MBPs announced

Good News: MB (maybe May) and MBPs are still being upgraded in june. Making them faster, stronger, and be alive longer. FOR THE SAME PRICE. And the iphone is coming in june too.

So to me, I'm getting a Macbook in June. It's still worth waiting until June.

You could really consolidate those sentences instead of saying "June" 50 times.

And yeah I'm pissed about this too, but some of you are seriously acting like 4 year olds smothering your posts with     ARRGHHHH!!1!

What bothers me is that as recently as lastweek, Apple came out and vigorously denied the report from Digitimes (which originated from Japan, no less) that stated that Leopard is delayed until October.

Apple KNEW one week ago that it wasn't going to happen. But they panicked thinking that consumers, if they thought Leopard was delayed for another 6 mos, would hold off on buying a Mac, ruining this quarter's revenue. So they issued this denial. Now what possibly changed in just one week that pushed back the release to October? It is not the delays that annoy me...I want a product that works. What bothers me is the manipulation and lying to maintain a profit. It backfired on Apple this time. Apple has successfully played this game for a while, hiding release dates and features to maximize profits (sucks for those buying a MBP the day before Apple announces a new MBP for the same price). Apple needs to come clean- let us know what the date of release of a new iMac and laptop is going to be, what the new features in Leopard are going to be, and whether it will be 100% functional with the current systems, or are there extra features that will only be supported by new hardware.

There is no more Microsoft Vista photocopier excuse- Vista is out. Apple stock is going to plummet, and nobody is going to buy a Mac if they are smart, at least until June's WWDC - and maybe later, depending on what Apple announces.

If MS was clever, they'd start their own ads to the effect of "Apple must be running their photocopiers, now that Vista is out. They must be surprised by something they needed to copy into Leopard" Likely not true, but Apple would have done this to MS.

I refuse to switch from my PC (running XP) to Mac until I feel Apple is being honest...

Apple denies Mac OS X Leopard delays
Apple has denied circulating rumors of delays in Mac OS X Leopard, its next-generation operating system. A report by Michael Gartenberg of JupiterResearch says that Apple has confirmed Leopard will ship in the "spring", contrary a rumor floated by the somewhat unreliable Asian Digitimes publication. Last week, it claimed that Apple was going to delay the release of Leopard--until possibly October--to allow Leopard to support Windows Vista via Boot Camp. "The rumor mill is wrong again," Gartenberg wrote in his blog. The company, however, in February flatly denied delays in shipment of its revolutionary Apple TV set-top until just a few days before launch, despite published reports to the contrary. The much-anticipated device, formally introduced in January at Macworld Expo, was delayed by just over three weeks and began arriving in customers hands last week.

Can I restate this fact that nobody else seems to care about? Apple has stated REPEATEDLY that rumors were untrue. "Apple stands by a Spring 2007 release date for Leopard."
Now, is NOBODY upset that they lied? Or do we give them the benefit of the doubt that some programmer walked into Steve's office this past week and told him... "Oh we calculated wrong. It isn't going to be ready for another SIX months" Cmon... Apple knew for some time... or at least knew 10 days ago when theyclaimed the Digitimes report re: october were incorrect and Spring 07 was the release date. What changed in the last 10 days?
