  • we look at the line, everything will depend on the published results
  • February 15 foreign websites leaked details of the latest Macbook Pro:
  • New Macbook Pro with a new amorphous alloy body, lighter and stronger than magnesium alloy, reduce 15% -20% Macbook Pro Weight. 13-inch belt drive only 1.69kg, 15-inch belt drive 2.09kg, 17-inch belt drive 2.40kg.
  • New machine with a new battery technology to extend battery life by about 20%, 13-inch battery life of up to 12 hours, 15-inch and 17 inch can be up to 11 hours.
  • A small change in the appearance of the edge will not be too sharp as now, the transition will be smoother.
  • The screen is a new, more energy, the specific details of the unknown.
  • Custom machine to upgrade memory and SSD hard drive prices down.
  • Macbook Pro to upgrade to a full range of sandy bridge processor.
  • 15-inch and 17 inch were increased a USB interface, 13-inch unchanged. New USB interface, is located on the right.
  • 15-inch increase in ExpressCard slot. 15-inch and 17-inch optical drive into the removable HDD! !
  • A stronger graphics card 17-inch optional.
  • Price: from $ 1,099 13-inch, 15 inch from $ 1549, 17-inch starting from $ 2,099.
  • Apple press conference on March 1, involving content: Verizon iPhone sales, iOS4.3, the new Macbook Pro, iPad 2.

Sounds good but this makes no mention of Thurs 2/24. Don't think they'd have a conference a week after releasing a major product. Is there any precedence for this?

My guess:

- New MacBook Pros will taper down like the MacBook Airs do. But, will be slightly thicker near the screen to allow better heat control because of the tapered design. This will mean the palm rest isn't as sharp edged, and will be almost as thin at the end as the MacBook Air.

- There'll be no more glass on the display, and the 13" will get a matte option. All displays will be high res ones.

- LightPeak won't debut on this refresh of MacBook Pro.

- They all lose the optical drive.

- Longer batteries

- 13" gets dedicated graphics, but nothing amazing

I just wanted to report that the Danish online store still has all models except the 2.66 GHz 13" listed as shipping "Within 24hrs".

I am looking very much forward to the new products!

- There'll be no more glass on the display

Not happening. Apple has decided that glass is reserved for its premium displays (Macbook Pros, iMacs, Apple Displays) and they are not reverting back. Plus, the glass is beautiful. I actually like when the light hits it and reflects off the black bezel. To each their own.

lol it is said on that page that their info comes from a foreign website, which in this case, is MacTrast.

I cant wait for it.... Macbook Virgin here....

I just hope we will be able to spec it up with 16 gb Ram I don't care about anything else the CPU's are fast enough, ODD would be good to have but you can always get an external, SSD Is an option and I couldn't care less for graphics cards

Please GOD give me 16 GB ram. or I might consider a boring lenovo!!!

Fist full of cash and waiting....

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

I thought I'd be clever. I downloaded an iPhone app to send me push notifications every time there was a new story on MacRumors.

Somehow I thought this would keep me from refreshing incessantly. Instead I just have an alarm that reminds me that I need to read every post as soon as it's written.

Unless they made an announcement tomorrow about an upcoming event on March 1 and thus releasing the new MBP then too. Usually they make event announcements one week in advance. Not saying that's what is going to happen but we still have time. Feb 24th seems likely but never confirmed by Apple themselves. We're all just waiting..

so why are the high def screens with anti glare cost more

Is Apple ditching optical drives?

I don't think so.
I really hope they add Bluray support. :D

Do you hate Steve that much? It's his birthday, not his...given his supposed health problem, I won't say THE word.

I also hope we see a redesign on Thursday, but as we haven't had any indication or leak, I don't think we will see any cosmetic change.

I'd be happy if the 13" got iCore processors (I think the base model is going to have the 2.1 GHz Turbo Boost-less crappy i3), a better video card (AMD or NVIDIA is ok with me as long as it supports OpenGL 2.0 which the crappy Intel does not) and SSD standard (the blade SSD speed is fine) and a standard spinning drive HD. Ok, I know, I'm dreaming.

I'd like to see a SuperDrive-less 13" MBP with the above, but I don't think this will be the case this time around.

However, IF Apple does not offer SSD standard, the base 13" will be significantly slower than the base 13" Air in daily tasks.

Bye

Because it is not a standard option (just because it isn't standard and costs more doesn't make it more premium) and they have to go out of the way and make it using a different process for relatively few machines in comparison to the millions with glass. Naturally the less of something is made, the more it costs. Also, neither iMacs or Cinema Displays have an anti-glare option. Most people actually do want the glass, or they would have went with the matte from the beginning. Sorry, without the glass is a no-go for me. It looks cheap without it in my opinion. They could easily make hi-def displays with the glass. The Macbook Air should have had glass.

Yeah and considering MacTrast has 0 credibility and most likely wanted to profit from this refresh by linkbaiting with some completely made up BS...
It looks like it worked too, they got links from so many major sites in just a few days and their traffic probably exploded...

I personally don't believe a word of it

Lol I'd laugh my ass off if nothing happens on Thursday. It's all been hearsay so far. That Chinese site seems more believeable with it's rumors about stuff coming on march 1st.

Sounds good but I think it should be fairly obvious by now that NO major refresh will take place...

Possibly 'sandy bridge' CPUs only by sound of it all - if that!?

No offense, but I don't get this line of thinking. How is it obvious? Unless Apple has said something one way or another, it's speculation. Sure, we can all opine... but until we have hard evidence, it's all a guessing game.

I wonder if there's a chance that 24th might be the date they announce the new macbook pro, or announce an Apple event where they announce iPad 2 and Macbook pro in march (and the same day as the event release the mbp)...

I hope not though..
