I'm expecting a new design. I remember that the current Macbook Pros have been around for like a year and a half, right? I think it's time for a new model. I know I sound spoiled when I say this, but compared to all of their other products, the current Macbook Pro feels kind of thick and "clunky" for an Apple product!

That's because you don't use a Dell laptop for your work computer. Want to see thick, clunky, plastic and slow all rolled into 1? My 2.5 year old MBP is svelte by comparison, but nothing like my wife's new MBAir.

:):):):)Hopefully it will still be there :):):):)

I think it will be. The Mac app store isn't robust enough yet and the average consumer hasn't been contitioned enough yet to go disk-less for software and media. I think next year we'll see the the ODD gone, along with an aesthetic redesign.

okay those are awesome! really well designed! so i guess your college prepared you for enough to just start out right away. did you have any experience from highschool?

Not anything worth mentioning. Yeah, anything surrounding computers, as we all know here at Macrumors, sort of expires quicker than anything in any other area. Being right out of school will give you that "current version" of designing that all companies need to stay ahead of the rest. And you will have used the newest prgrams in school, not be learning them like the "veterans." :D

Edit: Oh, and thanks alot!

yup this is true :) im in the AP graphics program in my school and also in design for the 21st century

edit:and youre welcome :)

If it has a blue ray burner I will get a new one. Otherwise I will wait.

So what I hear you saying is that you'll end up never buying an MBP.

Steve said no to Blue Ray...true he has a history of reversing himself...but if the ODD is going away in the near future...why put in Blue Ray just to yank it out?

what the hell??!!! Not even one apple store employee has the balls to do that? If I were working at apple right now I'd sneak a few peak and take some pics. If I get caught, I'm sure at first I would be like

imho, since switching to to intel apple seems to be working a bit harder at keeping ahead in their form factors.

so am tending to think at least a small external redesign would be in order just to keep ahead of all the lower cost window unibody clones. slightly humourous that one company even uses name 'envy'

also, with the current 13' mba having the same resolution as the 15 mbp, i would think there's going to be a bump in that area. dreading that apple might make their current upgrade 1680x1050 the new standard. so close, and still not, 1080i

and hard to believe apple would let the more expensive 'pro' line of laptops lag behind the ipad and mba, with those snappy start up times. so some bit of cross over seems inevitable

cant afford a new anything right now, so whenever the new mbp's start appearing i'm sure i'll be feeling a bit of envy myself

edit:look at this! it looks exactly like the pro..well not exact but really similar i dont think apple could keep the current design
