Great question. Hopefully someone can chime in on this question.

Does seem odd that they would delay orders only to ship you the model you ordered and not the refreshed. If the refresh is really different, you think they would have to stick with the model you ordered. But why delay it unless the stock levels are so low that they have difficulty ensuring orders are filled.

I remember reading on these forums (I think) that someone had actually ordered literally 1 day before an update and Apple had notified him to tell him that he was going to be receiving the updated model, which is lucky, and good for him.

If there are actually a lot of stories like this and had I known, I probably wouldn't have cancelled the order but I guess it's a too late now.

I thought, well if the MBP's are (possibly) being updated on Thursday and I'm going to possibly receive the older model on Friday, I may as well cancel and wait and then re-order. There was that glimmer of hope that the delay was only because they were planning to send me an updated copy but again, I've only read one story that someone had received the update instead of the one he had ordered.

On the UK store most are still shipping in 24 hours, only the top-end 13" is '3-5 days.'

Cool, I'm really looking forward to seeing what this new MacBook is like. Besides the new processor, I am interested to see if they can possibly improve on what is already a nearly perfect body that the current Unibody MacBooks (pros) have. Seriously they are the best laptops I've ever used.

Oh!I keep refershing MacRumors, and can't wait to see the New macbook Pros, it's the time to get one!

These new MacBook Pros will be the best yet. Incredible design, amazing performance and the most affordable pricing ever. Anyone who makes a purchase will be thrilled with their decision.

Last night before going to bed, ALL macbook were "In Stock" in Canada's apple store

This morning, ALL are "3-5 days"

I like it :)

Think this 13" will be the one I make the switch to osx on. Would love the higher res MBA screen and core i3 or i5. 128gb flash memory seems too expensive as of now but maybe $100 bto option. One can dream I suppose.

I know what you mean... I'm doing the same thing ;)

But I'm a bit concerned that it'll be just a spec bumb and no major design-change :(

let's hope for the best :)

Sounds good but I think it should be fairly obvious by now that NO major refresh will take place...

Possibly 'sandy bridge' CPUs only by sound of it all - if that!?

Predictions

Almost Guaranteed

  • Processor bumps across the board
  • Thinner and lighter, perhaps as a result of a switch to 7mm height hard disk and 7mm height DVD drive (or optional DVD drive)
  • Bump in screen resolution on the MacBook Pro 13 to match the MacBook Air 13
  • Support for SDXC cards
  • Bump in iSight camera resolution to match the iPod touch

Might Happen

  • Ethernet port gets moved to the power brick, so the MagSafe connector provides both power and the final link in the ethernet connection
  • LightPeak added, probably as FireWire replacement

I can't wait to get my first macbook

In the past, when Apple release new products, are they available in retail apple store the same day ? Or only online store has it the same day ?

thank you

My guess is that they'll be available, hence the black packages shipped out, just a guess mind. The girl in the apple shop seemed to think they'd be available the same day in the UK (Newcastle) as the US, so who knows?

By the way, the girl in the shop was speaking hypothetically...:D

I think I'm going to have to have a stamp made that says "there doesn't need to be an event to announce big changes."

Any ideas if all the models will have sandy bridge, or just 15 and 17 inchers?
